This is an original equipment Yokohama Geolandar tire with 26,650 miles size 225/60R18. We were traveling on I-80 through a work zone at 50 mph. We noticed our tire pressure indicator was lit. On a separate info screen, I could see the pressure on each tire and watched the passenger front tire at 14 psi and then decline. This told me we had a blowout rather than a leak. The other 3 tires were
... at the normal 35 psi. Through the work zone, the shoulder was closed, so I had to drive on the tire with inflation below 10 psi until I reached an area wide enough to safely pull over, about 2 miles. The blowout was surprising as we did not hit anything and there were no potholes. Everything was normal until the tire pressure light came on. On inspection at the Lexus dealer, they were unable to determine the cause but noted damage on the sidewall due to driving at low inflation.Read more

These tires are Good Year Wrangler Trail Runner AT size LT275/65 R20. My total mileage on these tires was 42,751. These were the original tires that were installed when the truck was purchased new. My Tires are rotated every 7,500 miles. Tire pressure is maintained at the exact pressure and in this case was just checked 4 days prior to the incident. I was driving on an interstate at 70
... mph. A vibration started. I checked the Tire pressure monitors and all showed normal pressures. About 4 minutes later the vibration increased and I decided to pull over. I had slowed to about 45 mph and had my turn signal On, as I was intending to pull on to the right shoulder. Suddenly the left rear tire exploded, and tread had separated. My truck was damaged . All the components in the wheel well are gone or damaged. The left rear 1/4 panel/fender is bent. NO repair estimate yet. After the incident I saw zero pressure on that tire indicating on the TPMS.Read more

While driving on a 55 mph 4 lane roadway I experienced a loud "pop" sound followed by rapid rhythmic banging at the passenger rear area of the vehicle. Thinking a tire must have failed I got as far to the right of the roadway and stopped. When the tire was changed it was apparent that the tread delaminated involving about one half of the length of the tread. The tire was not punctured and remained
... inflated. I was in danger of injury due to the proximity to high speed traffic passing by. I contacted Goodyear, the manufacturer of the tire, and they retrieved the tire for an internal inspection. They denied my claim citing the delamination was caused by "impact causing overdeflection of the tire and a fracture of the steel belt package". There was no impact with any object or defect in the road surface. There is no way the the rear tire could have impacted anything without the front passenger side tire also being involved. The tire was rendered totally unusable as a result. There was no warning nor was there any impact. The tire size is 265/50R20. There is extensive damage to the passenger rear area of my vehicle and the rear passenger door.Read more

The contact owns a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that six months after purchasing the vehicle, the vehicle experienced a tire blowout and upon looking for the spare tire kit, he became aware that there was no spare tire kit inside the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a nearby gas station where the tire was replaced. The contact contacted an unknown dealer and inquired about the spare
... tire kit. The dealer attempted to order the part unsuccessfully and later informed the contact that the part had been discontinued. The contact stated that he had contacted several other dealers in the USA and Canada and was informed that the part was no longer available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist and that the NHTSA could require them to install the spare tire kit inside the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 800.Read more

I was towing the trailer from Myrtle Beach, SC to Topping, VA. We had completed 286 miles of the trip and stopped for fuel and a 1 hour break in Stony Creek, VA. Upon stopping for fuel I walked around the trailer and checked the temperature of the tires and checked for any issues that could be seen during an inspection, such as irregular tread wear, punctures, and other damages that could have p
... laced the tire in jeopardy. After 1 hour of rest we completed another 25 miles before the drivers side rear tire separated the tread from the tire and subsequently blew out. Because we were driving at 65 mph, the tread was flung from the trailer into another lane and could have caused damage and potentially an accident at highway speeds if another driver attempted to avoid the separated tread. Luckily the separated tread did not cause damaged but I had to leave it in the middle of the highway due to the volume of traffic and high speeds. This now caused other drivers to swerve and potentially cause an accident from a swerving driver. The tire failure has damaged the body of the RV and is estimated to cost $2500-$3500 to repair. The tire that failed is a Westlake ST 235/80R16 load range E, with a maximum pressure of 80 PSI cold and a speed rating of N. I never exceeded 70mph with the trailer in the entire 2.5 years nor do I continuously tow above speeds of 65mph. The only time speeds of 70mph are reached is to overtake a slower vehicle. Once overtaken the speeds are brought back down to 65mph or lower. I have spoken to other RV owners that complain of "China bombs", tires manufactured in china that blow out or fail for no apparent reason. Tire dealers are also aware that this brand and others that are manufactured in China will fail randomly for know apparent reason.Read more

On march 17, 2022, I purchased 4-Michelin CrossClimate2 car tires (245/45R19/XL 102V) for my Lexus LS460. From the attached photos you can see how soft the rubber is as tested with a Durometer Meter reading of 54 compared to 64.5 Meter on the replaced Michelin Radial MXV.4 tire. Never had a single problem with the MXV.4 tires. Those tires came with the Lexus and had a hard rubber ridge just above
... the rim which protects these tires from damage. I don't remember ever running into a curb with the CrossClimate2 tires that caused the damage to the tire. The scuffing of the rim wheel is due to tall curbs, narrow tires, narrow drive ways and the driver of course. The CrossClimate2 tire was on the front driver side and usually never is a problem with contact with the curb, these rims have been rotated many times and show curb scuffing. The 4-Michelin CrossClimate2 rubber is very very soft and should have a protective edge to the tire and harder rubber like the Michelin Radial MXV.4 tires, there is no protection as is the case with the Radial X. I spoke to Michelin help desk twice and only received a directive, talk to your dealer. I purchased these tires from Amazon Business and had Walmart install the tires. I checked the Durometer on two of the CrossClimate2 tires still on the auto and the Durometer reading is not consistent on the rubber hardness, telling me there is a problem in manufacturing and quality control. The 4-Michelin CrossClimate2 tires are defective in manufacture and design and I would not recommend them 100%. As soon as I saw the slit in the tire I went to a Tire Dealer who said that the tire could rapture, so I removed the CrossClimate2 tire and replaced it with the spare, Michelin Radial MXV.4 on August 26, 2022.Read more
