The vehicle was proceeding on the freeway when the drivers side rear tire blew out and went completely flat. The low pressure tire warning system that alerted us never indicated that the air pressure was low or getting low, but rather it had instantly dropped to 0 PSI. There was no integrity left to the tire which posed an extreme safety hazard to the stability of the vehicle. Upon contacting Brid
... gestone I was asked to have a third party company inspect the tire to which we complied. The inspection revealed that the tire had suffered a failure due to a manufacturing defect and not wear/tear or accidental damage. The tires equipped on the vehicle are approximately one year old with less than 3,800 miles on them. Bridgestone is refusing to honor a replacement due to their defect unless I purchase an extended warranty for all 4 tires. Tire Size: 215 / 55 R 17Read more

Castle Rock ST 235/80R16 on the drivers side rear axle tire. I had just exited the interstate when the tire violently exploded. Debris from the side of the trailer and parts of the tire scattered across the opposing lane of traffic. Fortunately, no one was coming. This failure was harmful enough but would have been catastrophic for someone had this occurred on the busy interstate. Tire examined, b

Examination of the remaining three tires, all Castle Rock, revealed one had underlying belt separation and was close to exploding and another had unusual wear indicating a separation was occurring. I have read multiple accounts of these tire exploding. The was no inspection by anyone. There was no warning at all. This explosion did approximately $1000 damage to my trailer. I know this because I have ordered repair parts. The trailer tires have 10589 miles on them, (my truck keeps the mileage.). Trailer with these tires installed was purchased in December 2019. Tire pressure monitored constantly and they were covered when not in use. DOT date code: 0619.Read more

Hi , My wife and I purchased a 2021 Venture Stratus in December 2020 from Stoltfus RV located at 1335 Wilmington PikeWest Chester, PA 19382. Since our purchase, we have traveled from our home in Wilmington, De. to Cave Creek, Az 3 times (and return),Wilmington, De. to Mebane, N.C. 2 times (and return) and Wilmington , De. to Cincinnati, Ohio once (and return). The total number of miles traveled is
... <10,000. Prior to each trip, I check over my vehicles which includes making sure the towing vehicle and Venture Stratus tires are inflated to the correct pressure (65 psi for Venture Stratus). The tires did not appear worn or distressed prior to any trip This year I left Cave Creek, Az for Wilmington De. in early May . On my trip home, just outside Rifle, Co., one of the front trailer tires on the driver side blew. The tire was changed to the original spare. About 15 miles down. the road in Glenwood Springs, Co., second tire blew (second original driver side rear). I purchased a new tire to replace the blown tire as well as a new wheel to serve as a second spare. So at this point, the trailer has 1 original tire, original spare and two new tires. The next day, just outside Vail, Co., a third tire blew (passenger side rear), I called a tow truck and the tow truck driver took me to a tire store Given 3 of the original 4 tires blew, I had no confidence in the remaining original tire. So, I purchased 2 new tires (replacing the one original passenger side that had not blown along with the blown tire)and put them on the RV. All original tires had been replaced. I have since also replaced the original spare.. First, I know the tires were made in China. Second, I have a picture of the blown tire attached for your inspection as well as a picture of the tire with a defective stem. I will file complaints for all 3 blown tiresRead more

Subject Castle Rock Radial ST 205/75/R14 tire was running 10 degrees F. hotter (around 110 F) than the three sibling tires after about 30 minutes of travel. This had been the case for an earlier trip of approximately 275 interstate miles. All of these tires are original equipment and similarly used and maintained. The tire eventually exploded (see uploaded pics). Subsequent inspection shows a
... bubble had formed between layers of the tread portion of the tire. The failed tire is available for inspection. Tire pressure before traveling in the morning was 65 p.s.i. (this is consistently maintained when in use). The load/speed ratings of these tires are D105/101L or 2039 lbs/75 m.p.h. Our running speed is typically 65 m.p.h. or less. The trailer weighs approximately 5600 pounds as loaded. Likely due to a combination of this safety margin in both weight and speed along with a weight distributing hitch with a stabilizer bar, we did not lose control of the vehicle when the tire failed. We were able to pull onto the emergency apron of the interstate immediately and replace the failed tire with a spare tire (not the original spare). The original matching spare with zero miles of use on the road suffered a similar fate (bubble/tire layer separation) in 2022 (NHTSA Reference No. 11490675). The failed tire was taken to a nearby tire center where it was inspected and replaced with a new tire. Subsequent to this trip, the remaining three (3) OEM Castle Rock tires have been replaced due to their high failure rate (40% to date for us).Read more
