Tire sidewall separation. Tire manufacturer has recalled other tires with different mold numbers for this exact same issue but this tire isn't included in recall but has now shown the same issue. This could have caused a catastrophic blowout failure had I not caught.

P275 / 65r 18 The passenger front tire had a side wall blow out that just about took me off the road. Luckily I regained control of my truck before getting in an accident. I purchased a set of 4 Cooper Ultra Touring (235/45R18) Tires in 05/2022. Within 40,000 miles of purchasing the Tires, I was traveling on I-10 WB at approximately 70 MPH when the Vehicle started to shake violently. I pulled into the Right Lane and slowed down significantly and was able to make it to my residence safely. The very next day, I took the Vehicle to a local Goodyear Franchise and had
... a new Passenger Front Tire installed on 10/24/2022. The Service Tech advised that the Passenger Front Tire was on the verge of separating and that was the reason for the Vehicle Shaking. On 08/28/23, I was traveling on I-10 EB and the Driver's side of the Vehicle started to shake violently again. I traveled in the Right Lane at a slow speed until I came up on a Toyota Dealership in Daphne, Alabama. The Service Tech put the Vehicle up on a lift and advised me that the Driver's Side Rear Tire had separated and the Driver's side front tire had an uneven wear pattern on the inside edge. I had both tires promptly replaced. I have done my due diligence and have discovered many recalls on Cooper Tires as of late. The same descriptions I have read online are exactly what I have experienced with my two tires that have separated. I did check to see if these Tires were apart of any recalls and they are not. One thing I would like to point out is that these Cooper Tires were apart of a Promotion that Tire Choice Auto Service Centers were running in the Summer of 2020 to buy 3 tires and receive 1 free. For this reason, I do not know how many of these Tires were sold as it felt like they were just trying to get rid of them as they were heavily discounted. I do suspect that these tires were made in the same factories as many that were recalled. These Tires do have a 70,000 mile Warranty and I am currently in the process of trying to get the Tires from Toyota so Cooper can inspect them for a refund. Reference #: [XXX]. Driving at 70mph on Interstate 69 near Charlotte Michigan at around 10 pm on Wednesday 8/23/2023. Passenger side front tire suddenly deflated. Limped the SUV into a store parking lot at interchange. Continental 235/65R18 106H tire was changed by road side service and spare installed. This morning , while examining tire and rim , found two long radial cracks approximately 50 to 75 mm in length on t

The reason I am contacting NHTSA is that the cracks do not look like road hazard/debris, rather a split in the sidewall. I have not taken the tire back to the dealer or a tire store. I did photo document the failure and cracks.Read more

I have a set of 285/60R20 Discoverer AT3 XLT tires that I purchased new for my ‘14 Ram 2500 in December of 2020. On June 7th of this year (2023) I had my tire “cave in” in the middle due to the belts in the tire separating. This defect on the tire caused an extreme wobble and made the vehicle unsafe to drive. The tires in question had 33k miles on them and my local dealer said they would not

This defect in the belts/cords again cause the tire to “cave in” and have a death wobble while driving down the road. I own numerous vehicles and have been through several sets of tires on each of them and have never experienced 1) an extreme failure of the tire like this and 2) this high of a failure rate (currently at 50%). These tires are unsafe for the road and need to be recalled!Read more
