Vehicle had 14,000 miles and tires were rotated by dealership twice, last one 3 weeks ago. Was driving 55 mph and had a sudden complete deflation and stopped immediately. Tire is completely separated. The outer sidewall is completely separated from the rest of the tire. The tire has never had an injury or other issues. The tire rotation was at Gerry Lane Chevrolet in Baton Rouge, LA. I took the ti
... re in the same day to Gerry Lane Chevrolet service department and they were not helpful. They did not even look at the tire. I am having all 4 tires replaced tomorrow at Costco and will keep the damaged tire and 3 others for any forensic evaluation by your department or designate. I am concerned that this maybe the canary in the coal mine and if there is a manufacturing defect other lives may be at risk. Look forward to urgent follow up. Continental tire has had similar problems with sudden blowouts. 14000 miles properly maintained.Read more

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? My passenger-side rear tire blew out, while I was driving on I-85 in NC. I have a photo of the tire while it was on the rack at the AAA repair shop. The temperature was normal outside, and I did not see any debris in the road. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This
... occured at 3:50 p.m. on a weekday, and the safety of myself and the drivers around me was at risk, when the tire blew out and it was difficult to control my car on the intersstate. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The car was towed to a AAA service center, and I have photos of the tire that blew out, as well as the driver's-side rear tire that is also deformed. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, but I emailed Toyo with a report that I thought there might be an issue on Nov. 9, 2023. I was towed to a AAA service center. I have photos and the reciept from having to replace both rear tires, and get a re-alignment. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. This was a sudden blow-out on the interstate while traveling. However, the car did begin shaking, so I was trying to pull to the slow lane when the tire blew out.Read more

Tire size ST225/75R15 Camper was purchased in 2021. Luckily, it was a dual axle. We left on a cross-country trip in 2023 with the original Castle Rock tires. Tires were in good shape and had good tread and pressure. On 7/28/23 @1PM (Day 1), the passenger side front tire blew out near Sparks, GA causing damage to the skirting. It was replaced with the spare Castle Rock tire. We purchased another t
... ire at Five Star Tire Service for $107.41 to replace the blown tire and the spare was put back underneath the camper. On 7/29/23 @10:30AM (Day 2), the passenger rear tire blew in Glenrose Heights Atlanta, GA. We replaced it with the spare tire. We purchased a new spare from T.P.S. for $160.50 to replace the blown tire and put the spare back underneath the camper. On 7/29/23 @5:30PM (Day 2), the driver side front tire blew in Ringgold, GA causing damage to the water barrier and cracking the sewer tube holder under the camper. We replaced it with the spare tire. On 7/30/23, we purchased a new Carlisle tire at Walmart for $101.00. We put it on the driver side front and put the spare underneath. We travelled through South Dakota, Wyoming, Oregon, and into Utah. On 9/22/23, the driver side rear tire blew out and ripped through the floor of the camper. This caused enough damage to delay our trip to get an estimate; and get a repair that required two insurance claims. We purchased 4 new Carlisle tires from LES Schwab at $158.78 each, keeping the previously purchased Carlisle tire as the new spare. We are reporting this as we feel the Castle Rock tires are not safe. The tires were not even 2 years old, had less than 4000 miles on them and were well taken care of. Luckily, we had dual axles, and no one was hurt, however, it was very costly. We feel that Forest River should discontinue the use of Castle Rock tires made in China.Read more

Lionshead Castlerock ST225/75R15 Tires on XLR Boost Toy Hauler Trailer. Within 5 weeks we had 3 tires fail in 2 incidents. I have already filed on the 2nd incident, but since it asks for tire location I am filing this second complaint for first incident. In the incident in which the front passenger side tire failed, we were traveling along Hwy 2 outside of Monroe Washington headed up Stevens Pa
... ss to a campground in Eastern Washington. The tire blew out traveling about 55mph on a paved highway. When it blew a large section of tread turned into a flap that damaged the underside of the trailer tearing off insulation and vapor barrier. We had to change the tire on the side of the road with traffic passing dangerously close. Since it was almost dark when we were done and we did not have a second spare in case of another incident we took it slow up pass and had to sleep in a rest are until tire shop opened. It was dangerous changing tire on the side of the busy road and nerve wrecking crossing pass without spare, however at that time (5 weeks ago) we did not bother with reporting or contacting mfg. as we thought it was a isolated incident and maybe we ran over something. When we had 2 more tires fail within such a short time leaving us stranded again with more damage we realized this is probably a defective tire situation. At this time we have reached out to the mfg of both the tire and trailer but have not heard anything back. We had this tire replaced by Les Schwab in Wenatchee WA and put it back as the spare. There was no warning before the blowout and we check pressure and visually inspect tires regularly. This was only about about 30 miles into our cross country trip.Read more

ST225/75R15 Castlerock Tires by Lionshead. We actually had three of these tires fail on this vehicle in 2 seperate incidents within 5 weeks. I will file them seperately as it asks tire location and doesn't give option for multiple. In the incident in which the Rear Passenger Side Tire failed, we were driving about 60mph on Mississippi Highway towing the 2021 XLR Boost Toy hauler trailer with a
... Ram3500 dually around 3am. We had checked pressures and visually inspected the tires before leaving Tennessee at midnight. The tire tread blew apart leaving a large strip that spun and severely damaged the underside of the trailer and ripped off wire harness. We were forced to change the tire and tie up wires on the side of a busy highway in the dark with semi trucks passing us at 70mph plus. We definitely felt in danger and after finding delamination and missing tread on second tire found ourselves stranded in Mississippi sleeping in GoodYear parking lot after "limping" 30 miles in the middle of the night. Sleeping in parking lots in random cities where you don't know anyone is also risky in my opinion. I had all 5 tires replaced at that time to avoid future issues. I have reached out to the manufacturer of both the tires and the trailer 2 days ago and have had no response at this time. There were no warning signs or lights before the tire blew, it seemed to be going smooth on paved highway. The trailer was not overloaded, at the time of this incident we did not have our motorcycles loaded in toy hauler, just clothes & food etc..Read more

While driving in second lane from Left on I-90 at approximately 60 MPH an indication of 'tire pressure low - Pull the car over' was observed on the screen. Car was pulled over and it was noticed that driver side rear tire was blown. It was separated at the wall. Tire pressure was per the recommendation from manufacturer as there was no deviation indication prior to the incident. After driving on s
... ame section of the road for at least two times no potholes were observed as the section of the I-90 around that area appears to be relatively recently laid. The tire was inspected at home after the incident and there was no FOD found in tire. As a first impression it appears to have failed at the tire wall. Expectation is that after failure the tire wall should be able to sustain the vehicle weight and operation of vehicle at least for a very short distance to pull over the car from the traffic on a highway for safety of driver/passengers and other vehicles on highway. In this case the consequence of incident could have been a very serious life threatening event. A detailed analysis of design specification and manufacturing process of tire including quality program and sustainability would make sense to verify if this is a design and/or manufacturing failure, to validate and re-evaluate the certification and prevent this type of issue. Also it is quite surprising that tires for this make of vehicle are not covered under warranty. It would also be important to find out idf similar incidents have happened but not reported. For the owner of this vehicle there was no satisfactory and technically convincing response to questions about probable cause and concerns about safety at the authorised service center except the replacement of tire by same make and model of tire with cost of replacement paid by owner/customer.Read more

I actually love my Bronco Sport! I had car less than a month when tire developed a slow leak! The Ford dealership said I was going to have to buy a new tire at 268.00! REALLY? They said it was leaking due to Road hazard! I have not hit anything! The tire sidewall looks like it separating! I started doing research on the Tire and found out this tire has major structural issues!on Continental’s o
... wn website it gets 2.7 stars! Almost all the bad reviews are related to weak sidewalls! Separating, blowouts, sidewall bubbles! My trouble is that these tires should be discontinued and recalled! From Reading the reviews they are dangerous! My biggest disappointment is that Ford would actually put such poor rated tires on a New Vehicle! I am going to have to Replace all the Tires! Ford blames the tires I blame Ford for putting such crap on a new car! Especially a Bronco Sport! This Tire cannot even handle smooth pavement much less unpaved! Warning! If you are buying a New Ford MAKE sure it does not have this crappy dangerous tire! “Continental ProContact tx”Read more
