I own a 2019 Hyundai Sonata with an original manufacturer set of 205/65 R16 95H Kumho Solus TA31 tires on it. I noticed around a month ago that all 4 of the tires have cracks in between the treads, mostly on the outer and inner treads of the 4 tread areas. These cracks are all around and significant. I am afraid to drive on them. I have brought this defect to the attention of Kumho tires over
... the phone and to the dealership I bought my car from. There is approximately 34,000 miles currently on my car. These tires are supposed to rated for 60,000 miles. They are trying to tell me that they will not warranty their tires with ozone or weather cracking over 4 years old from the date of the tire manufacture stamped on the tire. I believe this is not weather related. I believe it is a defect in the tire and they are trying to blame weather. Even if the problem is what they call "weather" related that should not preclude a consumer/purchaser of a vehicle with their tires on it from pursuing a claim. Their tires should be able to withstand any "weather" and if not they should inform consumers as such. This is a "safety" issue and should NOT be taken lightly. I would like the NHTSA to investigate this issue further. Thank you.Read more

Tire size: 245/75 R16 LT 120/116Q Tire: Kumho Crugen HT51 I was driving on [XXX] and had only been driving about 30 minutes. I heard a sound and could see rubber from rear passenger side tire separating from the tire. I assumed I had a flat tire and immediately pulled over to the right shoulder of highway. When I stepped out I was surprised to see a lot of damage due to the tire tread separating
... and thrashing around on rear passenger side of vehicle. A small section of the rear corner bumper that included a small door panel to get to propane tank was completely gone. There was a jagged hole in another section of bumper as well. A small section of the body panel had been torn off and was laying by tire. Also, tire tread had damaged side of RV with black rubber markings and scratches. There are some small dents too. The tire was NOT flat, but the tread was almost entirely gone leaving the tire without any rubber tread. This is a 2020 Mercedes Benz Airstream Interstate 19. So this is an RV Camper Van. Had this been the front tire, I believe it would’ve resulted in an accident or injury. Vehicle & tires were inspected by Mercedes Dealership just last June 2023. I’m very concerned that the remaining tires will have the tire tread separate as well. These are the factory tires that were on my vehicle when purchased new. I purchased this vehicle with only 17,500 miles. Vehicle only has 27,473 miles on it now and has only been driven on streets or highways. Tires do NOT show any signs of cracking or dry rotting. I drive vehicle often for weekend trips. So it hasn’t set for any lengthy amount of time to cause damage to tires. I believe these tires are defective and that’s why the tread separated with tires only having about 27,500 miles on them. I believe these tires are rated for 70,000 miles. I’m hoping for an investigation into these tires as I strongly believe they are defective. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

P215/55R18 94H M+S Nothing has happened yet, but we need to get all new tires! When we got these [XXX] they were 80,000 mile tires. The mileage on our car when installed was 33,231 and is now 74,434, so no where near 80,000 miles. There are cracks all around all 4 tires L Front the worst, on the sidewall by the tread! We have only been back to Sams once for rotation etc., because it is 20 miles
... away, so we do it locally at our Buick dealership, or the Les Schwab tire store every 3500 miles. Needless to say we will not be going back to Sams to get tires, ever again! I seriously have never seen tires so bad, and there isn't any recall on them. I know there are 5 complaints about these tires, at least the Goodyear Assurance MaxLife! One comment from a Sams in Kingston, NY was that, "that was the 19th one with the same problem". This was on the inner sidewall, and mine is on the outside, but I cannot see the inside, it probably looks the same! We hadn't noticed until the Dealership pointed it out when they serviced the car. SAMS, where we got them won't do anything, saying it is weather related cracking????? Seriously, I have never had a tire that looks like these do! As you can see from the photos attached, that there should have been enough tread to get us through the summer, but they are not SAFE! Just glad nothing has happened! I purchased a brand new 2023 Mazda Cx-5 on December 2022 from Daytona Mazda. The car has been great up until 34,310 miles when I noticed vibration in the steering wheel. I buy new tires and have them installed by Pep Boys because I was tired it the vibration. I have them check the alignment while I was there and the alignment came out great with all the numbers in the green. The tires still had 7/32nd left on the tires so that’s about 70% of tread left. The dealership downer warranty the tires and Yokohama won’t warranty them. They stated i needed to send the tires back. I let the rep know that ok so you wanted me to risk my safety to send those tires back to you to examine them. I let the rep know that I don’t have those tires as I had new tires put on on [XXX]. I am trying to get compensated for the new tires I had to buy because of a premature issue with the OEM tires. Blew two tires in one day. One in South Carolina on 95 and the other in Florida on 95. I check air pressure all the time and use two TPMS systems one that is tied to my GMC truck and one that came with the unit. I check tires at every rest stop and that is about every 150 miles or 3 hours. One tire the side wall blew out ( First one) and we were able to get off the road. The second happen on a b
... ridge and needed to keep moving because of safety concerns, that one was destroyed and had damage to my trailer. The first tire was hotter then the other when we stopped 10 miles before failure, tire pressure was normal. The tire was/is a Goodyear Endurance ST255/85/R16. It is important to note Goodyear did make good on the tires and the damage.. however this is happing to more and more owners of this Jayco Trailer with these tires. I am now learning Goodyear is no longer backing up this tire. This is a huge safety concern as Goodyear appear to be the only manufacturer of this size tire and the suspension system is design for the height of the tire. The Goodyear Endurance tire is a 10 ply "E" load rated tire with a speed rating of N. The tire load rating is to be good for 4,080 each there for the tires are to be good for 16K. I CAT scaled my trailer and It is at 13K. My complete combination truck and trailer is within specs, it is not over weight as I have a CDL and can not be putting my license in jeopardy. I am in a jam as what to do to replace these tires as I have very little confidence in them. My only choice is Goodyear or purchase all new wheels and G rated tires. It is very important to note: Goodyear customer service was very helpful, however the tire problem appears to still be there . Your welcome to look up ST255/85/R16t tire size and see if you see a "G" rated tire. Thank you for looking into this matter. I have huge concern for RV tires... we lost a Family of 4 in Pennsylvania in August 2023 from a LF blown RV tire on a Class A Motor HomeRead more

On [XXX], I bought a 2023 Nissan Rogue Platinum from Car Max, East Haven, CT with 15,500 miles on it, original tires. We noticed the Dunlap GrandTrek PT20 235/55R19 101V treads were warn for only 15,500 miles. Took the car on [XXX] to Town Fair Tire, Milford, CT to measure treads and they agreed that they were too warn for 15,500 miles. Their report showed remaining tread life FL-1, FR-1, RL-1, R
... R-1 and suggested I had one month left. I then took it to Paul Miller Nissan, Black Rock, CT [XXX] where their report showed "May require future attention" LF 5, RF 5, LR 4, RR 4 and said I WILL need tires before winter. Contacted Good Year claim number [XXX] and had the tires inspected by Jordan of Modern Tires, Shelton, CT who contacted Good Year after inspection. He got a response of tires not covered, too bad for you from Good Year. I'm [XXX] now because how can a 1 year old car with 15,500 miles need new tires?
