Component: Tire – Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 P265/70R17 Vehicle: 2023 Toyota 4Runner (approx. 25,000 miles) After a standard tire rotation, I began experiencing severe steering wheel vibration (flutter) at highway speeds (55–65+ mph) and during braking. The issue started immediately after rotation and has not gone away, even after returning the tires to their original positions. The dealer replac
... ed rotors and pads, but the vibration remained. There are no warning lights, and no visible tire damage. This condition has been reproduced by the dealer. Upon researching, I found that Toyota issued Tech Tip T-TT-0602-20 for this exact issue — citing steering vibration caused by Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 tires on 4Runner models. I also found similar complaints from other owners on forums and the NHTSA database. The issue appears to be related to internal tire defects (e.g., belt separation or out-of-round tires) which are not externally visible. This problem affects safety due to potential loss of steering stability at high speeds, and could worsen over time. Tires have not been replaced yet, but I plan to pursue road force balancing and a manufacturer warranty inspection. I'm glad that I was able to find this problem early before it cause tire explosion. I purchased a used Toyo tire (model Extensa A/S or 436) from a tire shop in Houston, TX on [XXX]. I was assured it was in good condition, but less than three weeks later, the tire showed severe sidewall cracks, dry rot, and bulging. The owner admitted to giving me a discount because of showing up late to fix the tire, though I never asked for one I simply wanted a safe, working tire. A used tire should still last 1 to 3 years, and this one didn’t last three weeks. This presents a serious road hazard, and I believe this business is knowingly selling unsafe used tires. I’m reporting this because it endangers drivers like me and others on the road. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I bought tires from Walmart.com website in July 15 2023 and had them installed on a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 HD pickup. This was at the Walmart Laramie store. Between that time and Fall of 2024 one of the tires had a flat and Walmart Laramie, Wy replaced it. On October 7 2024 going to Riverton, Wy. the right rear passenger tire had a blow out. This was on I-80 going west towards Rawlins. It scared the
... beejeezus out of my young grandchildren. Four hours later, it was replaced with the spare (I did not have a jack in the vehicle and called a tow company). I took the tire to Walmart Riverton and they told me in the tire center that the tire was too badly damaged. They wondered where I had bought the tires. I told them in Laramie at Walmart. They looked me up online and found the tires. They told me they could not replace the tire although it was under warranty. The problem was that they are car tires and not light truck tires!!! They told me to call up Laramie Walmart and the tire manager would take care of me. I went home and did so. Jackson the tire manager said he wasn't going to replace them and that it was all my fault and that I forced them to put those tires on! He lied to me about what happened with the tires and them installing them. I went back to Riverton Walmart and again talked to the tire manager (Tyrone). He said that he would talk to the store Manager and they would make it right. He said he would order the correct ones, install them and then charge the Laramie store. I'm not driving the vehicle anywhere. What can I do about it? I know nothing about tires and have never been a tire company employee. This has been going on for months. Last week the Riverton store said they could mount and balance tires for free but I would have to seek a refund from the Laramie store to reimburse me after I buy new tires for $1200. I live on Social Security of $1229 a month!! 2 of 4 tires have failed and I don't have anywhere near the 60,000 miles warranty Can you help us?Read more

A little background information, on Dec 2023 I installed 4 new Hankook Ion Evo AS (255/45R19) for my Tesla model Y at the Correa Tire shop in Dorado Puerto Rico and the manufacture date on those tires was 4422 and at the time the car had close to 30k miles. On April 2025 one of the tires broke and I replaced it at the same place with the same tire model. Less than a month after the new tire
... was installed, while riding on the highway at close to 65mph the recently replaced tire completely broke off leaving only the sides and the rest of the tire flew off the car (see pictures attached). This happened suddenly with no previous indication or car notification of any issue with the tire. Fortunately, I was able to stop the car without losing control and apparently the tire did not hit other oncoming cars. This was a very scary situation, which could have resulted on a serous and even fatal accident. When I checked the new tire, or what remained of it, I noticed it had the same manufacturing date (4422) as the tires I had replaced in 2023. The next day I went to the tire shop and explained the incident and they informed I had to buy a new tire while they investigated the situation and if there was any issue with the tire. At that time I also opened a complaint with Hankook US. After waiting various weeks for a response, and expecting reimbursement for the damage tire, I have not received any information from the tire shop and Hankook said they did not receive a claim from the tire shop.Read more

I have driven on these tires 1800 miles since my purchase of the Forest River 5th wheel trailer in 2021. While driving on narrow country road at 35 mph, driver's side rear tire blew. It had little tread wear and blew the tread/belt off of 12" of the tire with a gash on the interior portion of the tire from sidewall to sidewall. The tire pressure was checked prior to driving the 15 miles until t
... he incident and was at 80 psi per the tires limits. The tires are rated to be driven up to 75 mph so I was way under that limit. Replaced with the spare and continued the 80 miles home. While the trailer was sitting in my sideboard on asphalt 5 days later, the tire in front of the one mentioned above blew! This time it blew the fender off the trailer and across the road. Again the same damage is seen to the tire with about 10" of the belt/tread blown off and the interior portion of the tire has a gash from sidewall to sidewall. Will now be replacing all the tires as this is very worrisome to a single woman driver. I am concerned how I would have handled my 32' trailer at hwy speeds of 60-65 mph. Neither incident caused any damage to other drivers luckily. First tire was replaced by Les Schwab Tires and employee was surprised as the tires looked brand new to him with extensive damage seen. No truck warning lights were issued prior to hearing the loud noise and seeing pieces of tire flying down the road. I am attaching the photos from the tire that blew in my driveway. Tire size: 235/80R18Read more
