I have a 2014 Audi sq5. Had vehicle in for service today and the tech discovered a huge rust hole in the rear subframe on both the left and right sides under the plastic shielding. This is a huge safety issue and this is not normal on a 10 year old vehicle to have this massive rust problem. After doing some research this seems to be a very common issue on this chassis, someone is going to die if o

While travelling on an interstate freeway, towing our 40 foot 5th wheel RV at 63 mph, our trailer lost its front drivers' side wheel & tire. Upon realizing something was wrong and stopping to investigate, I recognized the wheel spindle had separated from the axle at the welding point, which allowed the wheel, bearings, disc brake assembly and tire to separate from the axle. The wheel, tire & all o
... ther parts were not found. An incident report was filed with the state police, who responded and assisted in attempting to locate the lost wheel & tire with negative results. Pictures of the axle, which remained attached to the leaf springs, were taken. The pictures clearly show evidence of rust approximately half way around the axle where the welding of axle to the spindle failed, as evidenced by brighter, fused, metal that was holding the spindle until the break and separation. Our safety was put at risk due to the immediate loss of the trailer's brakes due to the fluid loss from the brake lines being torn apart as a result of the loss of the left, front brake assembly, wheel & tire. In addition, the loss of the weight-bearing tire placed the trailer in an unstable condition for maneuvering at freeway speeds. The other major safety concern was the other motorists traveling nearby could have hit or been hit by the wheel and tire while traveling at speed on a freeway. We were able to get our trailer to a nearby trailer repair facility that confirmed our damage and the potential safety risk to other motorists. While an incident report was filed with the state police, there was no inspection of our trailer by the police, trailer manufacturer or insurance other than by photos. Prior to our traveling on this trip, I did have our trailer's suspension inspected by an RV repair & service provider, however, they had no reason to inspect the spindle/axle welds. There were no symptoms or warnings of a problem with the spindle/axle welds.Read more

I was driving to work on 7-25-24 at approximately 65 mph and suddenly my jeep started to shake . It was so violent I just grabbed the wheel so tight , let off the gas and hoped I didn't crash. I brought my vehicle in for a recall that replaced the rear toe links. The factory adjustable toe link was replaced with a solid non-adjustable toe link. This dealer stated there is no way to adjust the toe. My vehicle feels like the rear is “dancing” when I hit most road imperfections. In the rain, it gets significantly worse. I will be taking my vehicle to an independent shop, but the reca
... ll work has unintentionally created a dangerous condition due to no longer being able to align the rear of the vehicle. The recall done was Safety Recall 20S62. I feel at a minimum, Ford needs to cover the costs incurred by owners paying to have the new toe links removed and replaced with aftermarket adjustable toe links, as well as paying for the alignment. I have reached out to both the dealer and Ford. The dealer stated they performed the recall as described by Ford. However, the recall states to align the rear as the last step, but the dealer states the toe link is a single piece, which is therefore not adjustable. Ford customer service told me there is no updates to the recall at this time and to bring my concerns to my local Ford dealer. Thanks.Read more

I took the van into Honda and they said the back 2 rear springs were broken. But the parts (springs) were on back order. One dealer, before I eve
... n gave the part number, stopped me and said your calling about the rear springs because they had so many inquiries. To me this sounds like there is an issue with the rear springs for Honda odyssey from the year 2018-2020 and that this should be a recalled item. No way is it a coincidence that there no springs available because of a random part shortage. It’s more likely it’s a poorly manufactured part and they are all breaking 5-7 years in to their life span. I believe this should be investigated as Honda probably knows the part is defective. This should be a part that is recalled and the cost of repair covered by Honda. Currently my odyssey can’t e driven for safety reasons until the parts (spring) comes in which could be month. 2024 brand new Acadia Denali trim with 1k miles was brought in to the dealership because of 'popping' and 'grinding' noise when turning, most loudest when turning to and from the right. It was also very much felt on the steering wheel. Dealer took apart the front right strut assembly and said that it was not 'installed' properly, causing the springs to hit the fender everytime the wheels turned.
... They inspected it said that nothing needed to be replaced, installed it properly, test drove it and determined that it was fixed. Driving home, I sped through potholes and bumps, especially during turns, to really test their repairs. Luckily, the sound was gone, steering was smooth. And I hope it stays that way. Out of curiosity, I took a picture of the strut assembly post Repair You can see the coil is bulging out of place from the strut. This is only in the right side. The pictures show the suspension with wheels fully turned to the right, left, and pointed straight. The picture even shows the part of the fender where the spring made contact with. I communicated in online groups of acadia owners and they said it’s also the same issue, wherein that they experienced the symptoms themselves or the struts look misaligned already. I believe this is a concern GMC should address the soonest as it could lead to road hazards for everyone involved.Read more
