Rear frame rails rotting thru from the inside out, causing potential suspension issues
Incident date: Aug 12, 2024
Rear Subframe has severe rust through caused by plastic covers that trap moisture. This is a danger as the rust is so severe it will impact suspension, lower control arm in the rear. It was not inspected by anyone other than myself. No warning lamps. I noticed one of the plastic pieces hanging down from the vehicle that led me to inspect the cause of this part coming loose.

I have brought my vehicle back to Tesla 3 different occasions for the same issue ( Suspension failure) The first time, I was told that it was a malware issue. The second time in November 2023, I was told the compressor was bad. They charged me $623 to repair. The same problem with the suspension happened again the end of June 2024. Tesla told me that I had a leak on my suspension and that they co
... uld see the leak without me bringing the vehicle into the shop. They gave me an estimate for repair of $2,044. They told me that I had to wait until August 16 to bring it in to get repaired. When I get there the service manager states that they are backed up on repairs and it will take another 3 to 5 weeks before my vehicle can be fixed. I have been paying for a rental car out of pocket for over a month and now I won't be able to get my vehicle until September 6th. Tesla is using this knowledge about the suspension to make money! There should be a recall on the suspension at Tesla's expense. They have cost me thousands!Read more

The rear passenger control arm broke off of the subframe due to severe corrosion despite Hyundai applying a corrosion preventative under recall 17-01-013 on 12/1/2015. During all service work following the preventative in 2015, corrosion was never brought up as a concern by the dealership (we have all service records since date of initial purchase). Thankfully we had just reached our destination a
... nd were parking the car when the failure happened. Had the part failed 5 minutes earlier, we would have been on the highway at over 60mph and could have been seriously injured or worse. We had our Tucson towed to the dealership for repair as well as additional recall work under Campaign 952 for corrosion of the fuel band. We were contacted by the dealership on 8/22/24 and told that the new subframe could not be installed as the corrosion was so severe, the body mounts had also corroded away so there was nothing to attach the new subframe to. The dealership advised us that our Tucson is now totaled and it is SOLELY due to corrosion that Hyundai has been aware of and has been subject to multiple class action lawsuits over it. This is absolutely unacceptable. This car is still in perfect mechanical condition and the exterior has absolutely ZERO rust but now it can no longer be driven due to Hyundai’s shoddy subframes.Read more

This happened on my 2006 Dodge 2500 truck. I have had this truck since brand new and have maintained vigorously. Fortunately I was only going 25mph on the back road from my house. If this had happened on the highway I may not be here to tell this story. I felt like I had a flat tire so i stopped and didn't see anything so I started again and drove about a foot and then heard this loud crunching s
... ound. I got out to find the center of my wheel had separated for the inside of the wheel. When I bought the truck I got the premium wheel package. The chrome covers are made on the wheel. I think what happened is because the chrome covers are made on the wheel there is no way to see that the wheel is rusting from the inside out and the owner has no idea they are driving a time bomb waiting to happen. My truck is almost rust free. I always took care to wash the salt off it in the winter 3 or 4 times a week. The truck has spent the last 10 years in Florida. I have never in my life ever seen this happen. I have no idea where the hub cap or the chrome cover went.Read more

I’ve been hearing a creaking noise in the rear when coming to a stop. Independent mechanic inspected it and said the subframe was severely rusted and that I probably should not drive long distances until it is fixed. They researched and said others have had similar issue. Mercedes apparently is aware and offers an “extended warranty.” I have an appointment in two weeks (!) to have it looked
... at by a Mercedes mechanic. They will pay for the repair/replacement IF warranted. Should be a recall, IMO. Can’t imagine that the part in question, which according to my mechanic, “essentially holds the back of the car together” wouldn’t be an immediate recall. Car has 120k miles on it.Read more

DEATH WOBBLE. Loose, or misaligned mechanical parts shake violently when driving on highway causing the “wobble” in the front end steering and suspension. Exactly the same way the 2018 and 2019 Jeep issue occurred, as noted by NTHSA in 2019.

In Sept. of 2023 I had my routine maintenance on my vehicle, oil change.at Tempe Auto Nation Hyundai. My drivers side 3rd row headrest was not staying up and needed to be replaced. I also mentioned to my extremely rude service agent Jake that my vehicle also had oil dripping coming from under the rear. I allowed him to do the oil change but not the headrest. I transferred location to have my vehic
... le serviced to Camelback Hyundai. My headrest was replaced by Camelback Hyundai. I also mention the oil leak to my service rep. Steve. I was also told that the vehicle was given an inspection. That I would need tires soon. My vehicle didn’t have 25000 miles on it. I purchased the vehicle new. It was also pulling to the right. The pulling was so bad I purchase 4 new tires. Costing over $700. The next day I took the vehicle to get an alignment, only to find out that my shocks/ struts are completely bad and needed to be replaced. I researched the issue with my Hyundai Palisade to see if there had been any recalls. It appears Hyundai is aware of the issue with the defective shocks. I am very disappointed and angry in the amount of time and money this has cost me because of an issue that The Hyundai Corporation knew was occurring. They knew there was an issue with the headrest and also the shocks. Due to the defective shocks, I had to pay for new tires and alignment for a fairly new vehicle that had not reached 25000 miles and still under warranty. I would not have needed new tires so soon an alignment if Hyundai would have corrected the defective shocks.Read more

Issue: Front End violent DEATH WOBBLE at interstate [XXX] speed of 75mph on [XXX] outside Benson AZ (unexpected and harsh). ... h initial test drive had no wobble. Dealer attempted to repair on 2 occasions in June 2024 but could not guarantee it fixed. They bled and primed its newer dampener which was empty/never primed. Supposedly it was the newer upgraded steering dampener that was to have fixed this issue but did not fix it. Had 3 more minor wobbles after Dealer fixes on the next 3 weekends driving on [XXX] at 70MPH but these were less intense and manageable (did not scare me so much as I was expecting them), Now I locally drive it with no major issues. Will have Dealer review at the next 5000 mile service. This Death Wobble should NOT be in a $58000 Jeep Sahara. Very scary. Dealer confirmed issue, but applied no permanent fix. Said to drive under 75MPH and be aware of the front beam axle feelings. No messages or warnings before, during or afterwards. The wobbles catch you by surprise. After these experiences I can drive it okay. I have owned over 10 Jeeps and none had this wobble issue. If informed about this Sahara's wobble, I would not have bought it. Dealer made no effort to replace vehicle or refund my money. So I am stuck. The Jeep forums mention this being an issue for 2024 saharas and some 4Xe jeeps. I recently bought a 2004 Toyota 4 Runner and the frame of the vehicle has significant corrosion to the extent of holes, weld failures and more. This 2016 Lance model 1995 travel trailer which I purchased new developed frame sag, which appears to have been fairly common in the 2016 model based upon a query of the Lance Owner's Association. The sag progressed to the point where the occupancy door of the trailer was very difficult to open unless a scissor jack (not part of the trailer equipment) was placed under the rear frame to temporaril
... y correct this each time the trailer was parked. My concern is that anyone cooking inside the trailer with a resultant fire may not be able to leave the trailer in time to save their lives. I have contacted the Lance Corp. and they will not admit that this problem exists in the 2016 model year, nor offer any solutions to the problem. At the same time, the trailer frame was changed during the 2017 year after only being utilized for a year. It seems unlikely that they went to the trouble of picking a trailer frame and then jettisoning it in only a year. I believe that frame failure to this degree after gentle use of a trailer only 8 years old constitutes a grave product defect that requires recall and repair. I have known that this problem exists since 2017 when I talked to another owner of the same year and model trailer. At that time this other owner was able to get the factory to repair his trailer since it was clearly under warranty. My trailer started exhibiting the first symptoms of this around 2018, but I didn't know that was what was causing the slight door opening impingement. I contacted Lance Corporation the first time 3 years ago an got nowhere with advice or recommendations for this problem. This year I again contacted them and emailed back and forth for over two months, even offering to drive my trailer from Alaska to their factory to get it fixed. Again, after slow walking the conversation, they ultimately had no recommendation to repair the problem and would not take me up on me paying my own way to their factory to get the trailer repaired.Read more

I had owned my car as the first owner. Within the first year of ownership, I experienced my first suspension failure. It happened when I drove my car during an off day to run some errands, driving locally at daytime with normal speeds. Mind you, here in New York, there’s a lot of street cameras. There aren’t many opportunities to go fast. During normal driving one day, I noticed a loud thump n
... oise, but the car did not go over any potholes or hit anything of the sort which led me to be confused. So I pulled over to a nearby parking lot to see what was going on. I later then saw some error messages about the air suspension. I got out of the car to see that my car was abnormally low to the ground. I also tried to raise the air suspension through the settings, but it wouldn’t work at the moment. I then called Audi to tow the car to the service center located at Audi Queens. They investigated on the matter, said that the front struts were blown out and had to be replaced. They refused to believe that this was anything related to a malfunction and insisted that I hit something. Unfortunately I didn’t have a dash cam, otherwise I would’ve solidified my case. Long story short, I later found out that the 2022 models have had a known issue with the front struts. I’m so lucky that when the time this happened, that nobody or myself got hurt. But this has got to be one of the most frightening thing, to think a car would fail on you suddenly like this!Read more
