Rear suspension subframe is rusted out and is not safe to drive by state inspection standards. The vehicle is not under a recall and dealer estimates about $200 to put on lift and inspect it. I am the owner of said vehicle and have had my own automobile repair shop for over 35 years, and am currently an official state safety inspection station. The local dealer says they need to inspect the veh
... icle and that I will be charged for it. I feel that since this is a defect in the vehicle and that it is a safety item that they should inspect it at no charge. I further believe that it will be recalled in the near future and will either repair it here and hope for reimbursement or get a new vehicle and hold on to this and see what happens.Read more

In August of 2023, Stivers Hyundai located in Columbia, SC replaced the rear shock absorbers on my 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited due to a rattling and knocking noise in the rear of the vehicle. The noise never completely went away, but was somewhat better. In July of 2024 the noise was back to the same noise as we were hearing in 2023. We took the vehicle to the dealership in August of 2024 compla
... ining of the same noise previously heard. The dealership stated that we needed new shock absorbers (same as which they replaced a year ago) and which only had approx. 20,000 on them. When we explained that they had just replaced them a year ago, they completely dismissed our concern and noted that they needed to be replaced and offered no explanation as to why they would wear out in a years time. At the point we visited the dealership in 2024, the vehicle was no longer under warranty and we were quoted over $3,000 to fix the issue. In looking through other online forums, this appears to be a common issue with this vehicle. My thought is that there is an underlying issues that is causing this to happen that may not be addressed through simply replacing the rear shock absorbers. Maybe there is an issue causing the shock absorbers to wear out so quickly and that issue has not been identified. Nonetheless, shock absorbers should not wear out in 20,000 miles under normal (mostly interstate) diving conditions.Read more

Clicking noise when turning
Incident date: Nov 14, 2024
I was in a blizzard a few days ago on the freeway & got caught in a ditch, but thankfully got out. I wasn’t going that fast & couldn’t due to not being able to see through the snow well so I can drive safely. In order not to crash because there were semi trucks around, I had to whip the steering wheel along with the weight of the car on the snow in order not to crash due to the car being big &
... it was sliding pretty heavy & somehow a couple things went out of wack after turning my steering wheel. Definitely a scary experience. It is very hard to turn out of no where, as well it’s rare at times when it turns just a little smoothly. Also, once when first pulling off, it makes a consecutive clicking noise coming from or by the tires. When I give it acceleration while turning, as well, it makes that clicking sound. Then there’s just something about the engine or the drive train that sounds off. I’m still learning as I go about fixing what needs to be done.Read more

Component/System Failure: The issue involves a clicking noise coming from the front of the vehicle whenever I turn the steering wheel to the left or right. Based on my observations, I suspect that the noise is coming from the axle, particularly one of the CV joints. The clicking noise is noticeable at low and moderate speeds, and it occurs consistently every time I turn the vehicle. Safety Risk:
... If the issue is indeed related to a malfunctioning CV joint, this could potentially pose a significant safety risk. If the CV joint were to fracture or break while driving, it could result in a loss of control of the vehicle, leading to an accident. While the noise itself is not an immediate hazard, the possibility of a sudden failure of the axle or CV joint is concerning, as it could impair my ability to control the vehicle and could potentially cause a serious crash. Reproduction/Confirmation by Dealer or Service Center: The problem has not yet been inspected by a dealer or independent service center. However, the clicking noise can be reproduced consistently every time I turn the car, whether turning left or right. Given the regularity of the noise, I believe this issue is likely to continue and should be addressed. Inspection by Manufacturer, Police, Insurance, or Others: At this time, the issue has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Since the noise has only recently started and has been persistent, I have not yet taken the car to the dealership for an inspection, but I intend to do so soon. Warning Lamps or Messages: There have been no warning lamps, messages, or alerts shown on the dashboard related to this issue. The vehicle continues to function normally aside from the clicking noise when turning. No other symptoms or mechanical issues have been noticed. When It First Appeared: The clicking noise first appeared around 1000 miles ago. As of now, the vehicle has accumulated approximately 5000 miles.Read more

We own a 2014 Nissan Altima. We are the second owners. About a month ago, my son was driving and the left rear lower control arm (Link) broke in half. After repairing and researching, there was an extended warranty offered by Nissan for 10 years from the manufacturer date. We are 13 months over that. When calling, I spoke to Chelsea and Trainsha (Who is the Northeast Regional supervisor) and both
... told me we are out of warranty and can do nothing. We were never contacted by Nissan to advise of this warranty. This was a known problem by Nissan back in 2018 they knew this was an issue on 2013-2018 Altimas in snow belt states. We are one of those states. I questioned why we were never contacted and why it wasn’t a recall. They said they do not decide on recalls and there are not many incidents. There is nothing they can do. So they are not only allowing all these vehicles to continue to drive on the road with risk of breaking and causing accident and possible injury, but they are also ok with not letting people know there was a problem to begin with. Why after 10 years can they say “Too bad for you” and risk peoples lives? This is a metal control arm. They acknowledge they made it incorrectly. Metal suspension components should last well beyond 10 years. Only the bushings and ball joints should need to be replaced. Why is a corporation allowed to get away with this. I am asking that someone look into this. They are saying they do not have a lot of incidents. Well, if they never let anyone know there was a problem, how would they know how many incidents they really had. We need to hold auto manufacturers accountable for their vehicles. Not just when they are brand new but for longer on metal components that are not wearable parts.Read more
