Knocking noise coming from front left tire when turning, accelerating, and reversing. Investigated noise and found a bolt hanging (unscrewed) from control arm/tie rod and another bolt loose and working it's way loose. If this bolt unscrew, I'm positive steering would be lost. See pictures.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at 65 MPH, the contact experienced the death wobble. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to control the vehicle and slowed down, and prevented the vehicle from driving off the road into a ditch. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with hesitation in the steering wheel linkage, sus

I have read a lot about the "Death Wobble." It appears there has been no recall on this but I believe there have been many incidents. Almost every day that the vehicle is driven and we hit a bump in the road going between 30-45 miles the steering wheel shakes aggressively. Would you not call this a definitely a safety hazard? The second issue is the dash board reading goes blank occasionally. Una
... ble to see the speed and or gas usage. Both issues I would say are safety issues. It appears that many Jeep owners have faced the same issues. Neither of these issues have been inspected. I don't feel that we should be responsible for the cost of the inspection. Jeep should stand behind their product.Read more

Drove car and heard loud noise issuing from the passenger side rear. Upon viewing the wheel was angled in at the top. After removing the wheel I found the rear crossmember subframe axle had a complete break in the weld holding the angle from the straight part of the beam to the wheel and suspension plate. After going online to see if similar issues happen on the same side of the vehicle, I found m
... any reports of weld failures on the same side at the same joint. This is an EXTREMELY dangerous weld failure--if it had happened during highway travel the potential for catastrophic injury or death is high, in my opinion. We have an unknown problem with a clunking/creaking noise while driving the vehicle we believe is coming from the front of the vehicle, possibly the suspension or steering. We are not sure we feel safe driving the vehicle since after taking it to the dealer three times in the past year, the dealer acknowledges the clunking but has not been able to identify and fix the issue. We have been told by
... the dealer it is safe to drive - but if they can't identify and fix the issue - how do they know that to be the case? Without being able to identify the cause of the noise and whatever resulting unusual wear and tear, will we have a catastrophic steering or suspension failure while driving the vehicle? Our 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4Xe Trailhawk, (purchased new) has an "air" suspension - not sure if it's an option or standard on the Trailhawk models. We have had it in to the dealer three times for this issue - this last time the dealer had the truck for 16 plus weeks. The front stabilizer bar has been replaced multiple times, the upper and lower control arms have all been replaced, all four air shocks have been replaced, and a mounting bracket replaced. The dealer told us they opened a Star case with Jeep and the Jeep engineer has been on-site to examine the vehicle. After the engineer requested three different fixes that did not fix the problem, the dealer returned the vehicle and stated they are aware the issue persists and the Jeep engineering group is working on a resolution (even though they no longer have the vehicle in their possession to test solutions). They will notify us when a repair is available.Read more

We got it fixed for the first time for 6.1k then they wires another fix for the back wheel because the entire wheel and more parts were damaged and they want to fix it for 1k more. and then today I got another quote for 1.3k for the strut. I am submitting this formal complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding a premature front CV axle boot failure on a Jeep Wrangler with only 16,000 miles. This failure occurred under normal operating conditions and is indicative of a systemic durability defect that could pose serious long-term safety concerns if left unaddressed. The vehicle was brought to an a
... uthorized Jeep dealership in New Jersey after grease was observed leaking from the front axle. Inspection revealed a torn CV axle boot. Importantly, photographic and video documentation confirm the vehicle was never subjected to off-road use, impact, or any owner-induced damage. Despite this, the dealership refused warranty coverage, claiming no cause could be determined—yet arbitrarily attributing it to external influence without any supporting evidence. This type of failure in a critical drivetrain component at such low mileage raises substantial questions regarding material integrity, seal design, and long-term reliability—issues which fall under NHTSA’s authority pursuant to 49 U.S. Code § 30118 – Notification of Defects and Noncompliance and 49 CFR § 573 – Defect and Noncompliance Responsibility and Reports. Additionally, Jeep Wranglers have a well-documented history of drivetrain-related problems, including steering instability, axle vulnerability, and component fatigue—many of which have already resulted in Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) and consumer complaints to your agency. This suggests an ongoing pattern of premature wear and reliability concerns that may meet the threshold for a safety-related defect investigation. While the failure in this instance did not yet result in an accident or injury, the CV joint and axle boot are vital components of the steering and stability system. A compromised CV joint due to undetected boot failure can lead to sudden loss of control, especially at highway speeds. The failure mode—occurring silently over time—is precisely theRead more

Car has been brought to KIA for transmission issues multiple times and the associate tells me to just tighten the gas cap to get the light to go off. I have noticed that the RPM's will jump and bounce around, seemingly down shifting, then shift again, and then down shift again, which causes jerking motion. The reaso
... n I initially took the vehicle in was for a "shake" or "wobble" when accelerating up a hill (semi steep incline) or at freeway speeds (55-70MPH). In these instances, the vehicle will have a hard time shifting and temporarily lose momentum causing concerns for me and other drivers on the road. The transmission light will go on and I call KIA to be told to tighten the gas cap. I recently brought it in for the third time and they diagnosed something different. I have mentioned the transmission each time, but they have focused on other items and not the transmission. I have had the shocks replaced, the tires replaced, alignment performed, and the problem still persist. However, the dealership will not look at the transmission and says that it is the other items, but the issue still remains after fixing the other items. The shock failure caused other items to wear out and the dealer should be on the hook for those items. I have brought the vehicle in dating to last year for the transmission issue with no help from the dealership. The vehicle has a vibration at interstate speeds 70-85 mph. The dealership has rebalanced the tires that came on the car, installed new tires and road forced balanced, replaced transfer case, rear drive shaft, but different size tires on car, and done another road force balance on the 2nd set of new tires that were put on car. FSE told dealership to give the car back to us and there was noting els

We have put less than 700 miles on the car and dealership has put close to 1100 or so miles on it test driving after repairs each time. This vibration could cause bearings, gears, and drive train failure that could result in potential death at highway speeds. While making a turn in a parking garage at low speed, I heard a loud popping sound. When I got out to inspect, I discovered that the front wheel had collapsed inward. There was no collision, curb hit, or external damage—just a spontaneous failure of the suspension system. This is the second time this same failure has occurred within the past year on this vehicle. The incident caused a complete
... loss of steering control, putting my safety at risk. Fortunately, I was not driving at high speed or on a public road when this occurred. There were no warning lights, noises, or other symptoms leading up to the event. The failed parts appear to include critical suspension and steering components (likely control arm, tie rod, or ball joint), and photos are available. The failure has not yet been inspected by the dealer or manufacturer, but the vehicle is available for inspection if requested. Given that this is a 2021 RAM with relatively low mileage, and it has experienced two nearly identical failures, this raises serious concerns about a potential manufacturing or design defect that could affect other vehicles. Attached are pictures from both incidents.Read more

The problem continued and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer a little over two weeks ago for the same problem. This time they sanded the surface of the brake pads to avoid them from rubbing against the rotar. The tech at the dealer told me that he beleives the issue may be that the brake caliper does not open wide enough to allow the pad distance from the caliper. Their solution is to sand the pad down. One, is this safe, and two, what happens when the car needs new brake pads, is the dealer going to cover the cost to continually shave the pads down for the life of the vehicle.Read more
