DEATH WOBBLE. While driving at freeway speeds hitting a road bump my Jeep went into a severe uncontrollable shaking wherein the entire car was moving sideways and in an up and down motion. i did some research online and found this condition to be a common Jeep Wrangler problem. i brought the car to the dealer and they said it is a known problem with the steering damper. In my research online, m
... any believe the problem is the tie rod, drag link and ball joints are the cause and the steering damper just masks the symptoms until it wears out. i had a third party off road repair shop look at the suspension parts and they noted the drag link had play within the bushings and recommended it be replaced. Upon not visit to the dealer, i asked them to check it out and they said everything was fine except the steering damper was bad. I had the replace the steering damper. I am still getting a shaking vibration at freeway speeds while hitting a bump in the road. it is not as severe but it definitely shakes the steering wheel and the vehicle enough to be concerned that something is wrong with the suspension. If you search DEATH WOBBLE you will find the exact condition i am experiencing. Jeep says everything is okay with the vehicle and yet I am still experiencing a vibration. my warranty expires 5/29/25. thank you [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

When entering a left hand turn at moderate speed, the vehicle will go into a lurching, bucking, hesitation period, usually when under slight or moderate acceleration. This results in an uncontrolled wobble that will eventually smooth out but can also result in a sudden burst of power that tends to rapidly propel the vehicle further to the left unless the throttle is quickly relaxed. Hard to descri
... be, but the sensation feels like you are being “squirted” out of the turn. I first noticed this barely a month after I took possession of the machine and thought it might be a normal handling trait. As I became more acquainted with the various user’s groups, I find it was not normal and a much more serious problem that apparently hasn’t been successfully addressed by the manufacturer over the years it has been reported. Unlike some of the others who have reported similar occurrences, my vehicle has not displayed any error codes on the display screen, nor has it gone into a limp mode. Due to these conditions, I will not take this vehicle on any road trips for fear of being stranded or involved in an accident being caused by this dangerous handling anomaly. I love this vehicle, but due to this issue, I don’t feel it is safe.Read more

Most recently, the contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, there was a loud sound coming from the rear of the RV. The contact stated that the RV fishtailed; however, the contact was able to control the RV. The RV was inspected, and the contact became aware that the rear panel and axle had detached from the RV, and the front passenger’s side tire had a blowout. The rear passenger side suspension coil was found broken with a clean break but embedded into the coil boot during a 70k service at the Audi dealer with ~61k miles. No alarming condition of the failure was present, and if it would have dislodged while at speed on the interstate would have resulted in complete loss of control and bodily harm to the driver as well as other vehicles on the road. Thi
... s was a CPO vehicle garage kept and routinely serviced by Audi, yet they denied any liability and provided no assistance when I escalated to corporate due to being out of CPO warranty by ~2 months. As a result, I had an independent VW specialist shop perform the work, document the observations as if they were to be subpoenaed in the future, and provide me all the parts from the repair (which I still have). The spring coating is completely intact on both rear coils and during the repair process it is evident that the part number has changed from what was originally installed to the current version. The clean break suggests part defect either in design for use or in the spring manufacture. Further investigation on various Audi forums as well as the NHTSA shows this is a prevalent failure for the 2018 Q5 and Audi should be doing something about this.Read more

There are 2 issues that I have noticed since I bought my car from a subaru dealership 10 DAYS ago. the first is that upon driving at highway speeds (over 50 mph) It feels like the car is jerky and pulls in a shaky rocking manner. this happened continuously, when I was using the cruise control and when I was not using the cruise control. It basically felt like I was driving in 40mph winds that wer
... e moving my car independently of what I was doing. The second is also something that happens at highway speeds, my driver side mirror shakes and vibrates so much so that I can't make out the surrounding space, cars and road at all. I scheduled a service appointment at the same dealership immediately. I told them these issues and upon inspection they reported that they do not see or report any such issues that I am concerned about. Stating that these are quote "characteristics" of the car. These are both potentially very dangerous problems that Subaru has stated is not an issue as far as they are concerned. There is a lawsuit about the driver side mirror that was filed in september of 2024. I just bought this car used with 10,500 miles on it and NOBODY mentioned anything in person or on the pre certified inspection checklist, CARFAX report or anything of that nature about these issues which Subaru must actually know about. If I was told about theses issues I would have not bought the car. And they are continuing to deny anything is wrong, saying its just a characteristic of the car. There are no warning lights or messages alerting of this issue within the car.Read more

My wife and I purchased a new 2022 Yukon around July 4, 2022. The vehicle came with a 36k or 3 years warranty. Around October 2023, we experienced several safety concern issues with the SUV and around 11/01/23, we reported these issues to a GMC dealer. Around 11/01/23, we took our SUV for service at an approved GMC dealer and reported issues with the steering suspension such as a knocking, snappi
... ng, and cracking sound when making a turn, and a bumping when making a U-turn or left turn into a parking spot. We also reported issues with the parking and key sensors. We were informed the issue was fixed and that some suspension bolts were loosed and needed to be torqued. On 1/29/24, we took the SUV back for some of these same reasons after other dealers declined to take our SUV under warranty. Once more, the issue was temporarily fixed. We have now scheduled another appointment for these same reasons of knocking, cracking, and bumping when coming from the front suspension and when making a turn or U-turn. In addition, we are now experiencing oil warning lights for a second time as oil comsumption. We believe these are serious safety issues, especially with any potential failure of the suspension under rain, fog conditions, and the lack of resolution and wonder if other similar issues have been reported or experienced by similar drivers of these vehicles. I am filing this complaint due to a serious and unresolved safety issue with the steering system of my 2019 Volkswagen Atlas SEL 4Motion R-Line. The vehicle was diagnosed with a failed steering rack, which presents a significant safety hazard due to impaired steering response and potential loss of control. The part needed for the repair has been on national backorder for over a month, with no est
... imated time of availability. This delay has left me without a safe, operable vehicle and has created a major hardship for my family. I contacted Volkswagen Customer CARE to request assistance and escalation. Unfortunately, they were unable or unwilling to escalate the issue to a Regional Case Manager, and offered no support, solutions, or alternatives to address the safety or mobility concerns caused by this prolonged delay. In contrast, the dealership—Volkswagen of South Mississippi—has been extremely helpful and professional throughout the process. They confirmed the diagnosis and are ready to perform the repair, but are completely dependent on Volkswagen to supply the required part. Through online research and owner forums, I’ve learned that steering rack failures and backorder delays are common with the 2019 Atlas, which indicates this could be part of a larger systemic issue affecting many owners. I am concerned that this situation poses an ongoing public safety risk, particularly if drivers experience steering loss unexpectedly. I respectfully urge NHTSA to investigate this matter and determine whether it warrants a broader safety recall or regulatory action. The current lack of support from Volkswagen, combined with the unavailability of critical steering components, is unacceptable and may leave affected drivers at serious risk.Read more
