The coil spring on the front end suspension snapped on my Ford F-150. The truck is a 2019 with just over 43,000 miles. The truck has not had any performance or suspension modifications over the life of the vehicle. Coil springs are an essential component of the suspension system, absorbing impacts and maintaining vehicle stability. As the coil spring snapped completely, this is a hazard to the
... driver of the vehicle and anyone driving alongside the road. The vehicle is now at a independent service center, once they identified the coil had snapped, they contacted me immediately noting the vehicle is no longer safe for driving. There were no warning lamps or messages that arose due to the issue. The only warning sign was a "squeaking noise" at low speeds which I requested the mechanic review when doing a routine oil change.Read more

On September 4, 2025, I brought my 2001 Toyota Tundra to Midas at 5325 Olde Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80002 for an oil change and inspection. Midas advertises a “Closer Look Vehicle Check,” which includes checking steering, suspension, and wheels. Their inspection report marked the steering system as “OK” and only noted mild shock wear. Less than a month later, while exiting the highway,
... the lower ball joint failed completely, causing the front suspension and wheel to detach. I immediately lost steering control. Fortunately, this occurred at low speed; had it happened moments earlier on the highway, it could have caused a major collision or fatalities. The failed component (lower ball joint and related suspension parts) is still available for inspection. An independent mechanic later confirmed that the joint was severely worn and the failure appeared to be due to long-term deterioration that should have been detected during Midas’s inspection. No warning lights or indicators appeared before the failure. The incident endangered my life, my passengers’ safety, and other drivers on the road. The business has refused to take responsibility or cover repair costs, which currently total over $2,400, despite their advertised inspection and guarantee. This raises serious concerns that Midas and potentially other service locations may be failing to properly inspect critical suspension components, which poses a major public safety hazard.Read more

The rear knuckles on these cars are constantly going bad and the parts are expensive and so is the labor. The parts alone are $200+ and then you have to pay for labor. This is ridiculous for a faulty assembly problem due to GM.

I was driving about 35-40mpg when the right rear toe link snapped due to inproper torquing. I believe the bolt had backed out then snapped. After driving >2000 miles or about a month, I could hear a loud, grunting/grinding noise when accelerating aggressively from 1st to 2nd gear when on EV or gas mode. Brought the vehicle at the dealership service department 4 times already, each time MAZDA Headquarters in California confirmed that this is a known and documented condition. According to Mazda, the grunt noise you’re hearing when the
... vehicle shifts from first to second gear under medium to aggressive throttle is considered normal operation. It has been determined that this does not affect the drivability or reliability of the vehicle, and it is safe to drive. The transmission is operating as designed and performing within normal parameters. Mazda is continuing to collect data on this condition as part of their ongoing commitment to improvement. However, I totally disagreed to their answer and that the truth is that they don't know how to fix it, unless tearing down completely the transmission to find out what the cause is! I feel it is a safety problem as explained by a top transmission repair shop: "In most cases, a loud, grunting or grinding noise when accelerating from 1st to 2nd gear would likely be considered a defect that substantially impairs the vehicle's use and could also affect safety, particularly under the context of Oregon's Lemon Law. Here's why: •Impact on Use: Grinding and grunting noises suggest that the transmission is not functioning properly, according to Top Notch Transmissions. This makes the vehicle less reliable and less enjoyable to drive. If the problem persists or worsens, it can hinder the vehicle's ability to operate safely and effectively, potentially leading to hard or delayed shifting, or even transmission failure."Read more

Subject: Suspension Defect Report — Rear Shock Spring Rate / Stability Hazard To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting a safety defect report concerning my 2025 Honda Hornet SP1000. The motorcycle is equipped with Öhlins suspension, and from new, the rear suspension has exhibited unsafe behavior due to an inappropriate spring rate. Safety-related issues observed: The rear shock frequently to
... ps out and unloads over standard road bumps, causing instability and momentary loss of traction. Tire temperature measurements after a long ride confirm a load imbalance: rear tire 99 °F (underheated), front tire 124 °F (overheated). This indicates the rear suspension is not carrying proper load, forcing excessive stress onto the front end. The motorcycle becomes unpredictable mid-corner and during throttle transitions because the rear fails to remain planted. The resulting instability poses a clear risk to rider safety on normal public roads. I weigh approximately 150 pounds, and at this weight the stock rear spring rate is excessively stiff. The suspension is effectively tuned for a much heavier rider, which makes the motorcycle unsafe for a significant portion of its intended market. Requested action: That NHTSA investigate this suspension tuning defect to determine whether it constitutes a broader safety concern requiring manufacturer remedy or recall. Premature and abnormal tire wear on my 2023 Toyota bZ4X, confirmed by two independent tire shops, despite consistent Toyota dealer maintenance every 6,000 miles. ... a, OR) every 6,000 miles, with multipoint inspections and rotations. On 9/22/25, Toyota dealer inspected the vehicle and reported that alignment and tires were “normal.” On 9/25/25, [XXX] inspected the vehicle and documented severe outside shoulder wear on the right-side tires. They recommended immediate tire replacement for safety. Alignment was also adjusted at that time to bring values into balance (report attached). On 9/27/25, Discount Tire replaced all four tires at 27,562 miles. Their written notes confirm edges were worn on all four tires due to alignment (right side more prominent). They declared the tires unsafe for continued use and recommended full replacement.
