BMW issued a warranty extension covering air suspension struts for certain vehicles (8 years / 80,000 miles). I own a 2018 BMW 740i. I reported front suspension concerns to an authorized BMW dealership (United BMW, Alpharetta, GA) at 64,354 miles (8/16/23) and again at 77,582 miles(3/19/24. Service records document front suspension issues, including thrust-rod and suspension defects. During thes
... e service visits — which occurred within the warranty-extension period — the strut warranty extension was never disclosed or applied. The suspension defect progressed, and I later had to pay out-of-pocket for air suspension strut repairs totaling over $8,500, including OEM BMW front struts. BMW North America has denied reimbursement solely based on mileage, despite documented pre-80,000-mile service visits showing the defect was present and evaluated. This appears to be a failure to disclose an active warranty extension for a known suspension defect, resulting in unnecessary out-of-pocket repairs for a safety-related component.Read more

The front suspension lower 'lateral link' bolts that go into the subframe side of the lateral link fell out. One completely fell out of and was only held loosely in place by the undercarriage plastic. The other bolt (there are two holding the lateral link into the subframe) had backed out about two revolutions. This resulted in a very loud banging noise and the us having to stop the vehicle to
... inspect. We had to slowly drive the car back to a safe area to diagnose and temporarily rebolt this prior to getting Tesla to inspect. I have photo and video documentation that I can provide showing the incident and how I had to repair this to make the car safe to drive again. There were no warning lamps or messages on the vehicle, just a very loud banding we heard when starting from a stop and or turning the vehicle. Prior to this we heard a faint thump that we could not diagnose. Fortunately the second bolt did not come out and we did not have a catastrophic failure while driving the vehicle. Bolts were not properly torqued and do not appear to have any sort of paint pen marking to document the torqued location.Read more

When I turn to the left or right I hear a clicking/popping noise. Took it to the dealer and they said it was the CV axle. So they replaced the driver side. After the repair, it would make the same sound from time to time so I took it back in to the dealer(Northside Toyota in San Antonio, TX) they couldn't recreate the sound and notated my account. This was all when the car had less than 30k miles.

I am reporting a catastrophic suspension failure on my 2023 Tesla Model Y that matches the description of Recall 22V-895 (Manufacturer No. SB-22-31-002), despite my vehicle being excluded from the official recall population. On [XXX], the front driver-side lateral link separated from the subframe while driving. Tesla Service /confirmed the separation in their repair notes, stating the cause was a
... "separation in the lateral link and subframe" which resulted in damage to the wheel and halfshaft. Recall 22V-895 was limited to only 26 vehicles due to a "manual torque validation" error on November 2, 2022. My vehicle's failure suggests that this manufacturing defect is not limited to the identified 26 units. I am urging the NHTSA to investigate whether the scope of Recall 22V-895 was insufficient and if a larger population of 2023 Model Y vehicles is at risk of sudden suspension collapse. This is a major safety concern. Luckily I was not on a highway and was driving around 35mph when the bolt fell off. Tesla is not responding to me with the details. They just fixed the issue under warranty and are saying, we do not know what caused the issue. Please investigate. I purchased this car new in 2018 and recently replaced the front lateral suspension arm due to worn bushings. During the process, I discovered that one of the 14 mm bolt threads on the right side of the suspension arm had a helicoil inserted. While removal was straightforward, reinstalling the bolt proved difficult. I spent several hours reattaching it to the new suspension arm, but did not apply
... full torque, as I was concerned about damaging the helicoil or stripping the thread. My main concern is that the factory has stripped the original thread and used a helicoil instead of replacing the affected part. Although the repair has held so far, I am unsure if this is a safe long-term solution, as the helicoil could fail while driving. I contacted Tesla, who advised me to visit their service center. At the Centinela location in Los Angeles, the supervisor informed me that, since the warranty has expired, they can only perform a visual inspection.Read more

The lateral lower front right suspension link and its securing bolts failed, causing the control arm to drop and the vehicle to become uncontrollable. (The bolts actually fell out on the ground) This was the second repair involving the same suspension area, with prior work performed on March 27, 2025. The replaced components should be available for inspection upon request. The failure caused th

Had this occurred at road speed, it could have resulted in a complete loss of control, posing a risk to the driver, passengers, pedestrians, and surrounding traffic. Tesla service confirmed the failure during the January 5, 2026 repair and replaced the affected suspension components under Invoice #[XXX]. Tesla service technicians inspected the vehicle during both repair visits (March 27, 2025 and January 5, 2026). There is no record of inspection by police or insurance representatives. One to two times per month upon starting my Cybertruck I receive multiple notifications for systems not working including "Driver Assistance - Automatic Emergency Braking is unavailable" and "Steering & Braking - Adaptive ride control degraded/Ride comfort may be reduced." While the vehicle is still drivable, my ability to control the vehicle is greatly diminished, as is the safety of the vehicle without any of the accident avoidance and stability systems working. After driving in this condition, if I park the vehicle, exit it, and let it sit for at least 10 minutes, all systems are normal upon reentry. On 1/5 I experienced this issue and opened a service request for warranty work and Tesla demanded that I agree to a $200 charge before they would even look at it and said if they were unable to see the issue then it would not be considered as warranty. Since I cannot reproduce this issue on demand I cancelled the service request as I do not want to pay them $200 to say they couldn't reproduce the issue. Internet searches have revealed that this is a common issue among Cybertrucks and despite multiple software updates since owning my vehicle, it has not gotten any better.Read more

On 6/28/2023, without any type of advanced warning, my rear driver's side control arm on my 2015 Nissan Altima failed, almost causing me to get into a severe accident; noting the rear tire was almost completely torn from the vehicle. The steering wheel also abruptly turned and locked to the left with a complete loss of control of the vehicle. The only thing that saved me from getting into a head
... -on accident with another vehicle was that I was operating at a slow speed and was able to stop in time. I never received any type of notification from Nissan, prior to the incident, to advise me of the Voluntary Service Campaign P9324. Had I known this, I would have at least had Nissan pay for my vehicle being towed and repaired, instead of paying for it out of my own pocket. On 1/4/2026, my rear passenger's side control arm failed when I was backing up in a parking lot. I was not in any type of danger this time of getting into an accident, but I was still not aware of Nissan's related Service Campaign and again paid for the repair, out of pocket. Noting that both control arms had now failed on my vehicle, (at different times, which could have caused death and/or severe injury to myself and/or others), I decided to investigate the issue further and discovered for the first time the existence of the Service Campaign Notification P9324. On 1/6/2026, I contacted Nissan's Recall Support Line and reported to them, both of my vehicle's break down(s). I was then advised that Nissan had changed the Service Campaign Notification regarding the rear control arm(s), to a "warranty extension", which ended in June of 2025 and therefore, they would not be willing to reimburse me for either of the repairs. In closing, I would like to say that it is disgusting that I was never advised of this Service Campaign Notification by Nissan that could have caused my death and/or serious injury and that Nissan will not continue to stand behind the costs to repair their defective part.Read more

My 2022 Subaru Forester Sport, <24,640 miles, suffers from persistent, life-threatening safety failures. Thick white exhaust is present in every temperature, and a heavy burning smell fills the cabin during acceleration regardless of outside temperature. I have been dealing with these failures since March/April of 2023. My car was in a rear-end collision in May 2023 and was repaired at an authoriz
... ed Subaru body shop. Despite these authorized repairs, the mechanical and electronic failures have continued to deteriorate. My car has required 4 emergency tows and was out of service for around 90 days in 2025 alone. It has been to several independent mechanics and they tell me that since everything happens intermittently, I must take it back to Subaru as it should be covered under warranty due to the low mileage. However, four different authorized dealerships consistently claim "nothing is wrong". My car sits at these dealerships for weeks at a time without a significant change in the odometer. I had 2 claims with Subaru of America this year, including a claim for the vehicle randomly unlocking itself (not via remote), but they closed both claims and nothing was done. Ongoing failures in steering, suspension and braking systems make the vehicle unstable and dangerous to drive. I have a 2-inch thick file documenting repeated service visits for these specific issues yet Subaru refuses to acknowledge or repair them. The primary computer system, media system, and Eyesight (ADAS) safety suite fail daily. The dashboard lights up constantly when these safety features fail. The system frequently freezes and resets while driving, which disables all safety and navigation features without warning. The remote start fails to warm the car after 10 minutes in cold weather; once the heat functions, the car is filled with chemical fumes. Vehicle: 2018 Honda Odyssey Component: Suspension – Rear Shock Absorbers Mileage at Failure: ~50,000 miles I am submitting this complaint to report a premature and potentially unsafe failure of the rear shock absorbers on my 2018 Honda Odyssey, as well as what appears to be a systemic defect affecting 2018–2024 Honda Odyssey vehicles. At approximately 50,000 miles, the rear shocks on my vehic
... le failed suddenly. Inspection revealed that the upper portion of the shock absorber housing had rusted completely through the metal, causing the internal hydraulic fluid to leak out and rendering the shock absorber inoperable. This is not surface corrosion—the metal housing itself failed structurally. The affected component is the factory-installed rear shock absorber, Honda part number 52610-THR-A02. Based on owner reports and service findings, this failure appears to be common across 2018–2024 Honda Odyssey models, typically occurring between 50,000 and 80,000 miles, often shortly after the factory warranty expires. Rear shock absorbers are sealed, safety-critical suspension components. They are not expected to rust through the metal housing or leak fluid within 6–7 years of normal use. This type of failure suggests a materials, coating, or design defect, rather than normal wear and tear. Failure of rear shocks can negatively impact vehicle stability, ride control, braking performance, and passenger safety, particularly in emergency maneuvers or adverse road conditions. Given that the Honda Odyssey is marketed as a family vehicle, this raises significant safety concerns. Due to the repeated nature of this failure across multiple model years, I believe this issue warrants investigation by NHTSA for a potential defect trend and consideration of corrective action.Read more

I am filing a complaint regarding what I believe is a manufacturer defect in my BMW vehicle. During a recent visit to an authorized BMW dealership for a routine oil change, I was informed that the front tension joints (tension struts) must be replaced because the rubber bushings/gaskets are cracked and leaking fluid. My vehicle has fewer than 33,000 miles, and I drive infrequently. This was misse
... d during the last oil change which was 6-8k miles ago. This type of failure at such low mileage is unreasonable and inconsistent with normal wear and tear. The dealership quoted approximately $1,800 plus tax, not sure if it includes a required wheel alignment, to repair the issue. BMW has declined responsibility and stated the damage could caused by road conditions. However, after researching this issue, I have found that premature failure of BMW front tension strut bushings is a widely reported and recurring problem affecting many BMW vehicles at low mileage. This indicates a design or manufacturing defect, not misuse. This defect presents a serious safety risk, as failed or leaking tension joints can lead to: Loss of steering control Poor braking stability Increased risk of crash Despite the known nature of this problem, BMW has not issued a recall or provided coverage, placing the financial burden and safety risk on consumers. I am requesting that this issue be formally investigated and that BMW be held accountable for repairing or reimbursing this defect, as it poses a potential vehicle safety hazard and appears to be systemic.Read more

The CV Joints on both sides of the front axel (left and right) were failing and replaced in December. They are already failing again and have to be replaced again. But Honda is just replacing them with the same parts, seemingly unconcerned that it poses a significant safety risk. Here is the summary as I understand it: A failing CV joint on a Honda Prologue often starts with clicking/popping nois
... es when turning, vibrations, and potential power loss, but can escalate to the joint disintegrating, causing the axle to break, leading to the wheel locking up and potential loss of control, making the vehicle undrivable and unsafe. Many owners report issues with premature CV axle failure, characterized by these symptoms, sometimes leading to a complete axle replacement under warranty. The clunking noise is what has been the biggest teller for us, confirmed upon inspection. This started around 8k miles and was repaired around 8,900 miles. We're at 9,100 miles and it is failing again (january). It is covered under warranty - for now. But since they're just replacing them with the original parts that are failing (presumably because of the weight of the vehicle) this will keep happening. I shudder to think not only of the safety issues but the potential cost once the warranty ends - which isn't much longer.Read more

I am reporting a repeated safety defect that happens only in rainy conditions. My 2022 Tesla Model Y repeatedly shows critical safety warnings including “Automatic Emergency Braking unavailable”, traction and stability control disabled, and “Vehicle Hold unavailable”. This has occurred during normal driving in rain every rainy season for 3 years, despite 4 service visits and parts replacem
... ent including the inverter. It started when I was pregnant and is now ongoing with my newborn in the car. The system failures happen while driving in normal wet/slippery conditions and greatly increase the risk of a crash. The component that failed is the charging system alternator on my 2020 Range Rover Sport HST (mild-hybrid). This vehicle has experienced three alternator failures prior to 100,000 miles. The failed alternator and related components are currently in dealer possession and are available for inspection upon request. Failure of the alternator creates a safety risk because loss of charging capability c
... an lead to battery depletion, electrical system shutdown, warning system failure, reduced vehicle functionality, or potential loss of power while driving. Electrical warnings and system faults increase driver distraction and may impair safe operation of the vehicle. The problem has been confirmed and reproduced by an authorized Land Rover dealership, which diagnosed the most recent alternator failure promptly. All maintenance and repairs have been performed exclusively at authorized Land Rover dealerships, with no evidence of owner neglect or misuse. The vehicle is subject to a Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) recall and related charging system software actions, which affect voltage regulation and the charging architecture that supports alternator operation. The vehicle and charging system have been inspected by the manufacturer’s authorized dealer on multiple occasions. Prior to failure, the vehicle displayed charging system warnings, battery-related messages, and electrical fault notifications. These symptoms appeared before each alternator failure and prompted service visits. Over the past two years, the vehicle has been out of service for approximately 178 days due to repeated electrical and charging-related issues. Given the repeated alternator failures, recall-related charging system involvement, and safety implications of charging loss, this appears to be a systemic electrical defect rather than an isolated incident.Read more
