The contact owns a 2001 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that while driving at 20 MPH, there was an abnormal sound, and the vehicle felt as if it had a flat tire. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that the rear driver's side tire was tilted inward and the rear axle was fractured. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V608

The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that in 2016, per the recall, the brackets were inspected to verify their proper installation however, the recall repair was not performed. The front cap above the drivers and passenger compartment come loose from the body. Mine has been to a few dealers and back to Thor's plant. They supposedly fixed it at Thor. But it is coming apart again. After Thor's head management came out and looked at it this last time they told me their is no internal support for the hole front cap. It's held on by self tapping screws where it meets the body
... of the camper and a few where it meets the truck cap. It is a fiber glass shell that flexes up and down while going down the road. The rear cap is the same way the screws that mount it to the camper are over tightened and fractures the screw heads. Both of these issues are very common on the Omni and Magnitude. The other issue is the suspension the chassis they put it on is to light for some models. Mine being one of the models the bh35. If a 18 wheeler passes you it will almost throw you off the road. Even if the rv is empty. Everyone with one of these. Has to put spring helpers on it to make it not such a handful. The tow hitch on them Is rated at 10,000 lbs and 1,000 lbs of tongue weight. However the ccc of the rv is only 1402lbs meaning if you put a 1,000 lbs tongue weight trailer on it. That only leaves 402 lbs of weight for inside. If you have a driver and passenger in it weighing 200 lbs a piece that leaves 2lbs for your clothes, food, water, bedding ,or anybody you might want to bring with you. The numbers here don't add up to me. And I believe this is a safety problem. Then the electric transfer switch. they put the fresh water tank in the same spot as all the electrical. Including the fuse panel, breaker box for 12v and 220ac power. They have left many wires loose on the transfer switch causing a buzzing noise. This has happened on many rigs. And the water tank leaks on many as well including mine it will flood the floor. Thor supposedly fixed this as well. Mine is still leaking. To me all these issues makes Mine unsafe to use.Read more

While accelerating on the entrance ramp to the freeway, which is free of potholes, or bumps, the front end of the truck began bouncing up and down violently. I was traveling approximately 50 mph. I immediately braked and the bouncing ceased. Luckily there were no cars behind me at that moment. I bought this truck used about 2 years ago with about 34000 miles on it. I do not know if the previous ow

This problem could definitely lead to a complete loss of steering control. Luckily I was only going about 50 mph and not on a curve, and nobody behind me. I have this vehicle scheduled for service at Elder Ford of Romeo on Dec 27 2021. They have indicated that it might be a stabilizer bar.Read more

I purchased the vehicle in 07/2021 through the Drive time Dealership. The first concern is that as you go over the agreement the cost of the vehicle is well over the actual blue book value which $24,000 plus. But then there is the blinded words which cover the interest rate and the false mathematics that is used to confuse you. I realized that in the end of that process it is stated that I would
... owe $70,000 plus which one can buy 3,4, vehicles or a home. I ask that this transaction be investigated. My ethnicity was the motivating factor to become victimized just the commission. My second complaint which also support my reasonings as to this filing is due to the lack of reply towards the recall ( NHTSA- 20V764) Manufacture Recall Number:N202308930. I called the GM Manufacture on 07/27/2021 and was told that the Remedy was not yet available. It has been over a month period . According to the initial date the Recall came effect which was Dec. 10/2020 it has now been 2 years 14 days sense recall and I have yet to receive relief about this serious safety issue. I am asking for an investigation to initiated. It is not good the way consumers are being manipulated for monies we work hard for as good unfortunate Citizens. The truck vibrates uncontrollably when driving on the freeway at speeds between 65-75mph. This typically occurs when the truck hits a bump when driving in this speed range. Doing a google search and reviewing videos of this issue reveals a pheonomea referred to as 'death wobble'. This has happened to me at least 8 times over the past 8-10 months. I had the shocks changed recently hoping that t
... his would fix the problem. This did NOT fix the problem. On one occassion while driving in Pennsylvania towing my boat, I was nearly in an accident. When the vibration/attenuation occurred I was driving approx 70mph and had to slow to 40mph nearly causing an accident. This is a very scary issue that apparently through research Ford is well aware of. I have my truck at the dealership as I write this complaint and they are saying they cannot identify the problem....So, the genesis of the Ford class action law suit was a similar issue. The dealership turned a customer away with a known safety issue. Wonder if this is going to happen to me? If I am turned away with a known safety issue and end up in an accident, you will certainly hear from me again! This is crazy. Merry Christmas!Read more

My truck has ~31k miles. On 12/15/2021 I was driving on the interstate at highway speed. A few hours into my trip the front end of my vehicle, suddenly and without warning, began to bounce violently. My ability to steer the vehicle was severely compromised. I almost hit the median wall. I was finally able to get the vehicle to the shoulder and out of the roadway. My first thought was that bot
... h front tires had burst. The violent shaking did not stop until the vehicle was at a complete stop. I got out and did a visual inspection of all four tires. They were fine. I did a visual inspection of the steering structures looking for something "loose". It seemed OK. I continued down the interstate and everything seemed ok. I had no clue what happened. After about 10 minutes, the same thing happened again. I did the same inspection again. Finding nothing, I continued to my home, driving below highway speeds with my emergency flashers on. Subsequent research by me revealed that I had a "Death Wobble", a defect in the steering mechanism that Ford has known about for years. There's even a class action lawsuit. Of course, none of Ford's agents/dealers disclosed this defect when I was buying this vehicle. For some reason, Ford hasn't issued a recall for this defect. A call to my local Ford dealer revealed that the service department, the "advisor" immediately diagnosed the problem. Ford has issued an extended warranty, but unfortunately, the authorized "fix" is inadequate and only temporarily masks the real problem. Ford is ignoring this problem, figuring as they did with the Pinto, that it's cheaper to ignore than to properly repair. Until, of course, someone gets killed. This defect manifests itself almost exclusively at highway speeds. And there is no warning. I invite anyone from Ford or the NHTSA to join me for a test ride to experience the terror. A signed waiver will be required.Read more
