On April 29, 2024, I was driving my 2012 E350 Mercedes and the brakes failed upon leaving an appointment. There was less than 10% stopping ability. Fortunately, I was able to use my transmission toggles and Emergency brake as back up, if needed. I immediately stopped to pick up brake fluid and filled the reservoir which was virtually empty. Drove the vehicle home, left it parked for two hours and
... then tried to then drive it again but to no avail. The system had "bled" all over my garage floor and driveway. As such it was taken to the dealership on a flatbed. Estimated repair... $1,700 This follows having to replace the cargo springs due to corrosion and breakage, the rear suspension sub assembly currently being replaced due to corrosion which Mercedes acknowledged is a problem and is covering under an extended warranty. In my mind, all of this is related and certainly a safety concern, beyond the expensive repair costs already and now currently being incurred. Can you help?Read more

Noticed a noise in the front suspension and took it in to dealership to get looked at. Dealership inspected and told me some internal component of the strut had failed and it wasn't operating correctly. The vehicle is a 2015 Subaru Forester. At that time, the car had 47800 miles on it. I started to sense a shaking or vibration on the steering wheel, especially at highway speeds. I took it to a local Subaru dealer and the dealer technician found the lower control arm bushings to be work/torn. I have been driving for over 40 years and have never had to have the bushings replaced in any of my (
... Toyota) cars, especially at 47800 miles. I bought the car new. I live in the city and do not do any off road driving. I bought the car because of the Eyesight safety system. I didn't realize Subaru's quality was not at the same level as Toyota. According to J.D. Power, "The bushings prevent metal-to-metal contact (friction) hence safeguarding the metal joints." and "Driving around with worn-out bushings can pose a threat to the driver and other road users. Worn-out bushings may also cause damage to the vehicle when its components snap." (website: [XXX] ) I believe it may be a "lemon". I have had to take it to the dealership regarding the transmission problem of hesitation on acceleration. The technician tested it and (of course) found nothing wrong. The service advisor did inform me, over the phone, that the technician experienced the issue during testing. Subaru denied my request for reimbursement of the defective battery. They indicated that I was not eligible for reimbursement because I did not pay the dealership to replace the battery. I had bought an Interstate battery at Costco and replaced it myself. ... em! I'm not sure how a four year old car, just out of 3 year warranty by a year, is needing all this excessive amount of work. Just this last year EVERYTHING with the suspension and tires were completely normal and healthy! Within that year only putting 10k miles on it, never been off roading or drive crazy- we both have a great driving record. So, all of this is absolutely sudden and worried for our safety. The car has NEVER notified us of low tire pressure at anytime, ever. Having the Honda service center telling us the tires have "adnormal wear pattern of tires" (all of which is, inner wear). Not allowing us to get the normal tire rotation due to that and the tread depth measure was unevenly worn. Just a reminder, not one of the sensors have NEVER alerted us- other than due for oil change. We went in thinking oil change and most safety recall repair would be it. Then being told 4 tires $1,000 and front control arm replacement $561 (not including service charge) is NEEDED! Bridgestone tires P245/60/R18, is the brand we currently have and need to replace immediately. I have all receipts from previous oil changes (Honda dealership in Charleston sc- where we bought the car from) and multi-point inspections, seeing as this is sudden and very dangerous to not only us but to the cars around. Exact wording from our Honda service report- Not fixing this issue front control arm will be unable to stabilize the suspensions fore and aft movements. On my recent visit to my trusted independent service center, which specializes in Mercedes-Benz, they noticed serious corrosion problems. There were no symptoms to alert me to any problem. Also, I never received the notice from MB so how would I know? My mechanic asked me to sign a waiver (which I never have had to do before) that stated the rear subframe was rotted completely through; needs to
... be replaced ASAP; and is unsafe to drive. The rear brakes lines also had corrosion. This tells me the car is unsafe to drive, and must be fixed. It seems that MB issued an "extended warranty" to cover the rear subframe, but not the rear brake lines. I contacted MB Corporate who said they 'may' offer some assistance. I have an appointment next week with a MB dealer who must provide an estimate of the damage and cost to MB for their approval before doing any work. As a result of learning what's eating my car underneath, I won't take it on any extended trips. I really am afraid of something bad happening. And it has, to many others. No one should ever have to get into a car and worry about these two safety issues. It’s very important that Mercedes-Benz recognizes its responsibility to not only its customers, but to all the other drivers on the road who can be negatively affected through accidents caused by these corrosion issues.Read more

My steering wheel on my 2018 Tesla Model 3 Long Range, began to groan louder and vibrate periodically when the steering wheel was turned, especially at lower speeds. At speeds roughly under 50 MPH, the front wheel fender area would vibrate frequently, and more often when I encountered speed bumps or dips in the pavement surface. I contacted Tesla early 2024 through my Tesla app, explained what I
... was experiencing. Tesla determined I may set a mechanical appointment for 01/14/2024 with a "repair estimate" that was approximately $175.00. Upon preview by the service-intake representative (I do not remember name), he pushed down on my front fender area, heard the "groan" and informed me that my vehicle's issue was "very common and easily correctable, that should not cost me more than $200” in his estimation. A couple hours after dropping off my car, I got a call from another representative from the Berkeley Tesla Service center, informing me that the damage was more extensive and would be approximately $2100 (labor included), which involved a broken control assembly, replacing Front Upper Control Arm Assembly, Right hand and Left hand, Front Lower Compliance Link Assembly Right and Left sides, Lateral Lower Front Links Right and Left sides, an alignment, and various bolts & nuts parts.. or if I choose to not move forward with repair, I can come back to pick up my vehicle without repair costs. On the phone, I brought up that I read the NHTSA and Tesla issued a recall on some vehicles within the same year as my vehicle, however, I was informed over the phone, since I was not notified nor was "on the list," I was NOT covered. I was very concerned with vehicle operating safely so I paid for these repairs out-of-pocket. If my front suspension failure / safety matter is very similar to over 400 Tesla recalled vehicles whose vehicles experienced the same issues, I am hopeful my vehicle can be included in this matter and be reimbursed for my paid repairs.Read more

This vehicle continues to have "Death Wobble" (violent shaking of stearing & suspension) when driving at or above 55 mph speeds. The current odometer mileage of vehicle is approximately 23,500 miles. The problem first occurred at around 9,000 miles at highway speeds. The dealer was promptly contacted and a replacement steering dampener was installed. The problem has returned at even lower speeds
... under any number of normal driving conditions. Problem occurs when tires cross any road boundary, road inconsistencies, or pavement changes at speed 55+ mph. The immediate sensation that stearing is failing or falling apart is only mitigated by immediate deceleration. This is extremely unsafe when attempting to maintain flow of traffic speeds on freeways or other roads. Stellantis, FCA, Jeep, etc. Has attempted to band-aid this problem by providing steering dampener replacement when harmonic vibration amplification is the main problem, based on various inerworkings of the deficient suspension & steering components on newer vehicles. This Jeep has not been modified in any way from factory settings and configurations. Work has ONLY been performed on the vehicle by certified jeep technicians.Read more

I had noticed that my car would sway when driving around a curve or when switching lanes and was going to take it to the shop to be checked out, but my back passenger tire went flat on my way home from work which was odd because they were brand new tires. When I went to change the tire I noticed that the inside of the tire was completely worn and wires were sticking out. I drove home at 35-40mph b
... ecause the sway was even worse with the spare tire. I had a mechanic come to my home to check the car out because I was afraid to drive it any further. When he jacked the car up to see what was going on, upon inspection he noticed the sway bar had come loose on the passenger and driver side of the car and that the sub frame on the driver side of the car was completely rusted through. The mechanic was able to reattach the sway bar, but advised not to drive it until the sub frame could be fixed. I contacted a certified welder and had my car towed to the welder to have the frame welded back together. The certified welder was only able to partially weld the frame and stated that the car would need the frame replaced because it was too rusted out to properly fix and that it was not safe to drive. Now I’m without a vehicle even though the car is in great running condition because the frame is unable to be fixed and the cost to buy a new frame and have the work done is more than the car kbb values the car for.
