Since 2023, my vehicle has had water leakage coming from the back right passenger side from the seat belt opening and right side of the back trunk. This is a major concern because my son’s car seat is seated on the right back seat where the water leakage is coming from. I don’t want any mold to grow under his car seat or on his car seat. The cabin vent system appears to have a design defect, specifically the passenger-side vent located in the back of the cabin. This component is available for inspection upon request. The dealership, Santa Cruz Toyota, has declined to replace the part despite acknowledging the issue. The concern lies in the vent's design, as it allows water to enter the cabin instead of just expelling air. The wate
... r intrusion caused by this malfunction poses a safety risk in two ways. First, the presence of water on the floor increases the chance of an electrical fire due to the numerous electrical wires running underneath. Second, mildew spores can grow on the wet undercarpet padding, creating a health hazard. This problem has been confirmed by Santa Cruz Toyota, and we have video evidence to support the claim. While Santa Cruz Toyota has inspected the vehicle, our request for a direct inspection from the manufacturer, Toyota, has not been successful. There weren't any warning lights or messages prior to the failure. However, the issue became apparent after the heavy rains of 2023 in California, when we discovered water accumulated under the passenger-side carpet padding.Read more

After driving on the highway for approximately 20 miles with no warning lights illuminated or any signs of issue, the driver's door opened while driving at highway speeds. We were in a right hand turn on a highway exchange ramp at approximately 65 mph, when the door popped open an audible warning began to sound and visual door ajar warnings illuminated on the dash. This was not just an erroneous
... alarm of the door ajar alarm; the door came unlatched opening enough to see daylight around the seal. My wife immediately grabbed the door and pulled it shut while driving. After closing the door the audible and visual alarms extinguished. I witnessed the incident from the passenger seat and can verify she did not on purpose or by accident touch the interior door handle to release the latch. This occurred with the vehicle having approximately 6,000 miles on the odometer. Doors should not inadvertently pop open while driving, this puts us at extreme risk of injury or death. If this were to occur while someone was leaning against it the outcome could be fatal.Read more

Subject: NHTSA Complaint - 2024 Grand Highlander Hybrid XLE Rear Windshield Shattering To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a concerning incident with my recently purchased 2024 Grand Highlander Hybrid XLE. On [XXX], 2024, the rear windshield/liftgate glass spontaneously shattered without any apparent cause. The vehicle was merely six months old at the time
... of the incident. This unexpected and potentially hazardous occurrence has prompted me to investigate further, and I have come across multiple reports online from other customers who have experienced similar issues with the same rear windshield/liftgate glass on this specific vehicle model. This pattern of incidents raises significant concerns about a potential manufacturer's defect that may compromise the safety and reliability of these vehicles. Given the frequency of such occurrences and the potential safety implications involved, I am urging the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to investigate this matter thoroughly. It is imperative to identify any underlying issues or defects that may be contributing to these incidents to ensure the safety of consumers and prevent any potential accidents or injuries in the future. Please consider this complaint as an urgent matter, and I implore the NHTSA to take appropriate action to address this issue promptly. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to a swift and comprehensive investigation into this concerning issue. The regenerative braking doesn't work when I hit a bump. There is a bump that can't be avoided in my route to my house. Every single time, without fail, when I hit that bump my regenerative braking goes out and more stopping time is required for me. This is especially dangerous because this bump is near a traffic light. If I have to slam on my brakes to avoid running a light (which has happened a

Additionally, when this happens and I press the brakes to help slow me down there is a "hiccup" feeling where it feels like neither the regenerative nor even the normal braking is working. Once I turned off the engine again, the smoke then immediately started from the right side of the hood again and quickly smoke started coming from the left side of the hood. I was quickly trying to grab my things to get out of the car as I saw the paint starting to peel off of the hood of my car. I am writing to submit a formal complaint concerning a persistent and costly issue with the 2021 Ford F-250 and models from previous and newer years, specifically related to the roof molding. It has come to my attention that numerous owners of these vehicles, including myself, are facing significant financial burdens due to a design flaw that necessitates the replacement of the roof molding. The
... core of the issue lies in the fact that replacing the roof molding is not a straightforward task; it requires the removal of the rear window, which significantly escalates the cost and complexity of what should be a simple repair. The trim pieces alone are priced at approximately $125 per side, not including labor costs, which can be substantial given the necessity to remove and reinstall the rear window. Given the frequency and consistency of these complaints across multiple owners and vehicles, it is evident that this is a widespread defect rather than isolated incidents. The financial impact on consumers is considerable, making it an urgent matter that I believe warrants a recall. As a safety and regulatory body, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has the responsibility to ensure that manufacturers like Ford address such defects that not only impose undue financial strain on consumers but may also pose potential safety risks associated with improper installations or failures of the molding in question. I urge the NHTSA to initiate an investigation into this matter and to consider mandating a recall to correct the roof molding issue at the manufacturer’s expense. This would alleviate the financial burden on current owners and ensure that future models are free from this costly defect. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and action on this issue.Read more

There are several issues with my Vanleigh RV that I believe warrant investigation and recall. The main structural element I believe common with all my problems is the under-designed frame in its entirety. I have had to have the rear portion of my frame strengthened by the frame manufacturer (Lippert) due to it going out of camber. This has caused numerous slide operation problems as well as contin
... ual floor damage inside the RV. There is also too much flex in the front portion of the frame causing continuous body damage. I applied the Vanleigh recommended fix of inserting wood slats into the aluminum channels on each side of the front end but things have gotten worse. The newly recommended fix is to remove the outer surfaces of the front of the RV and weld additional support into the aluminum frame structure. I believe these aluminum welds have broken due to the previously recommend Vanleigh fix with the wood slats. The slats stiffened the bottom aluminum but now pushed the movement further up the structure thus breaking the aluminum welds of the RV sides around the king pin section.Read more
