The rear bunk end door on this 2017 Jayco Jay Feather X17Z hybrid travel trailer does not fully latch or lock while traveling at highway speeds due to a known widespread manufacturing defect. Jayco factory installed canvas retainer strips with no pre-drilled holes and no washers causing the plastic retainer strip to crack and fail. This caused the entire rear bunk end frame to shift out of alignme
... nt making it impossible for the door latch to fully engage while towing at highway speeds. This is a documented defect affecting hundreds of identical units. Jayco was already replacing these under warranty proving they knew about the defect. Jayco subsequently redesigned the attachment system eliminating screws through plastic entirely — part numbers 0858182 and 0858183 — proving the original design was inadequate and dangerous. The bunk door not fully latching at highway speed poses a direct safety hazard to other drivers on the road.Read more

Water is leaking through back tailgate every time it rains. Water pools on the back floor and gets into the tailgate control unit. As a result, mold has grown on the floors and water has gotten into the power tailgate control unit causing my tailgate to stop opening and propping up (I have to manually hold the heavy door while lifting items out). This has caused electrical problems with cruise co

I have had the engine and transmission all tested and everything is working properly in that regard. The conclusion is that these electrical malfunctions are due to water damage. Subject: Paint Failure – Known Defect (Honda White Paint Peeling) Vehicle Information: - Year: 2016 - Make: Honda - Model: [Fit or HR-V — fill in] - Color: Orchid White Pearl (NH-788P) - Purchase Date: August 2016 Complaint: I am reporting a paint defect affecting my 2016 Honda vehicle with Orchid White Pearl paint. The paint has been actively peeling since early September 2022
... and has progressively worsened over time, now affecting numerous areas of the vehicle. The peeling is occurring without any external damage, impact, or misuse, and appears to be a spontaneous coating failure. Honda previously acknowledged this issue and issued a warranty extension for affected vehicles. However, I was denied assistance solely because the vehicle is now outside the extended warranty period, despite the defect clearly matching known failure conditions. This issue is widely reported among Honda vehicles with this paint color and model years. There are also class action lawsuits alleging that Honda vehicles suffer from defective white paint that peels and delaminates due to manufacturing defects. Safety Concern: While primarily cosmetic, peeling paint exposes underlying metal surfaces, which may lead to corrosion and long-term deterioration if not addressed. Request: I request that this issue be documented and investigated as a manufacturer defect. Consumers should not bear the cost of widespread premature paint failure that has already been acknowledged by the manufacturer. Additional Notes: Honda corporate has denied assistance based solely on warranty expiration, not on the nature of the defect itself.Read more

The fuel tank protective shield underneath my vehicle has severely rusted and corroded, with visible perforations forming through the metal (photos attached). This shield protects the fuel tank from road debris and also helps secure the tank to the vehicle. The corrosion appears to be caused by galvanic corrosion: the steel fuel tank shield is bolted directly to an aluminum heat shield, and the co
... ntact between these dissimilar metals accelerates corrosion of the steel component. This is a known issue affecting numerous vehicles of this make and model, suggesting a design defect. Safety concerns: The shield is structural — it helps hold the fuel tank in place. Continued deterioration could compromise the tank's mounting and lead to the tank dropping or shifting. As the shield fails, the fuel tank itself becomes exposed to road debris that could puncture it, creating a fuel leak and fire hazard. There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms inside the vehicle. The damage was only discovered during a visual inspection underneath the vehicle. The component is available for inspection upon request. UNKNOWN whether the manufacturer has issued any formal acknowledgment, but the failure pattern is consistent across many owner reports.Read more

I own a 2020 Honda Odyssey and I am currently having a safety issue with the power tailgate. Upon inspection by my Honda dealership, my vehicle requires a new power tailgate control unit and floor harness and my roof rail and clips need to be re-sealed and replaced. It was discovered that due to the break in seal the connectors corroded due to a water leak.In April of 2026 I received multiple war
... ning messages on my dashboard. The first was Power tailgate problem and the second was keyless remote problem. At first I noticed my car continuously beeping while driving along with the warning on my dashboard. I attempted to turn the vehicle off to see if it would reset, but it did not. I attempted to open and close my tailgate. I could only open my tailgate with the push button on my dashboard. I had to manually close my tailgate due to my buttons on my car and my key fab failing to work. Next while driving, I could hear the locking mechanism on my tailgate continuously locking and unlocking. Of course this particularly concerned me because I have 3 young children and their safety as well as mine was in danger. It was unclear if my tailgate was going to open while driving. Such an action could potentially cause a serious threat or harm to myself, my family or other vehicles on the road.Read more

The driver’s-side rear spoiler on my 2014 Toyota Highlander Limited AWD has melted, bubbled, and warped. The vehicle has been stored 100% of the time in a fully enclosed garage with no windows since new. It has only 65,000 miles and has received all service exclusively at authorized Toyota dealerships. This appears to be a materials/design defect in the black plastic spoiler. Similar melting/warping issues are reported by other owners on Highlanders and RAV4s, even on low-mileage garaged vehicles. Dealer replacement quotes are typically $2,700+. I request NHTSA investigate this recurring plastic failure as a potential defect in materials and workmanship. I was driving on in the left most lane on a highway at 70 miles speed with multiple trucks speeding from behind. My car suddenly lost acceleration and saw multiple warning messages on my car display. ... the car to nearest dealer I understood that a stone went through the front grill of the car and it got the radiator converter leaking all the coolant and that created the loss of acceleration. This is a safety issue in the design of the car grill as it has unusually large holes leaving a critical part vulnerable and failure leads to loss of acceleration and a safety hazard. For similar other hybrid models in Lexus or Toyota Sienna the same grill is protected with smaller vents in the grill.Read more

No warning lamps or prior symptoms appeared before the failure. The component is available for inspection. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer or manufacturer representative, though I intend to bring it to a Honda dealership. This issue poses a significant safety risk, as spontaneous shattering of glass over an occupied cabin could cause injury to passengers. I am aware of a class action lawsuit (Tappana v. The failure involves the driver’s side door latch/lock assembly and emergency access system. Specifically, the mechanical emergency keys for the door did not function, and the door later did not fully close or seal due to two loose bolts near the lock. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This created a safety risk because I was unable to manually unlock the vehicle in an emerg
... ency when electronic systems could fail. Additionally, while driving, the driver’s door was not fully sealed and allowed wind into the cabin without triggering any warning alert, raising concern that the door was not securely latched. The issue was reproduced and confirmed by multiple authorized Volkswagen dealerships. In December 2025, a dealership confirmed that neither set of emergency keys worked. After replacement keys also failed, a faulty door lock cylinder was identified and replaced in March 2026. In April 2026, a new issue arose where the driver’s door was visibly not flush with the frame. A dealership technician identified and tightened two loose bolts in the door lock, which resolved the issue. The vehicle has been inspected by authorized Volkswagen service departments on multiple occasions. No inspection by police or insurance representatives occurred. There were no warning lights, alerts, or messages from the vehicle prior to or during either failure. The issues first appeared in December 2025 (emergency key failure) and again in April 2026 (door not properly sealing). Based on repeated failures and repairs involving the same door/lock, I believe there may be a defect related to the door latch/lock system or prior repair work that impacts safe operation and emergency access.Read more

A vehicle was taken to a collision repair facility following minor front-end damage. At intake, the repair facility documented visible exterior damage but did not perform or document an underbody inspection, which is necessary to assess high-voltage battery integrity in electric vehicles. After the vehicle entered teardown, the repair facility later claimed that the high-voltage battery was damag
... ed and recommended that the vehicle be declared a total loss. This determination was made without documented evidence of required OEM diagnostic procedures and without initial intake documentation supporting battery damage. The sequence and timing of documentation raises concern that the battery damage determination was made after teardown rather than through proper inspection protocols. A subsequent manufacturer-level evaluation did not support the claim of battery damage. This situation presents a safety concern regarding whether proper high-voltage battery inspection and handling procedures are being followed by collision repair facilities. Misidentifying or improperly handling high-voltage battery conditions in electric vehicles can pose safety risks, including potential thermal events, improper classification of vehicle safety, or unsafe return to service. This complaint is submitted to request review of whether proper safety and OEM procedures were followed in evaluating the high-voltage battery, and whether this reflects a broader safety issue in electric vehicle collision repair practices.Read more
