Visible indicators began to appear both inside and outside of the RV within the past 12-18 months that were indicative of a structural problem. First, we noticed separation underneath the front cap where it is sealed with the bottom molding. Next, we noticed the wood paneling facia board behind the front bedroom closet, in the front nose cap, had almost completely separated from the closet sh
... elving. Additionally, the adjacent closet, doubling as the Washer/Dryer closet, had wood paneling separating from framing. Most recently, we observed three separate nails/and or screws, protruding through the front, bedroom laminated flooring. With all of these indicators visibly present, we contacted Grand Design customer service on Friday, April 25, 2025 and reported these visible warnings indicators to Grand Design customer service and requested pre-authorization for a stress test to be conducted in at attempt to determine if our RV had frame flex. On May 7, 2025 we took our RV to General RV in Draper, Utah to have this stress test completed. This test was paid for by Grand Design. The test concluded that our RV did in fact have frame flex and required repairs. General RV filed a claim, on our behalf, with Grand Design for the frame repairs, but NOT the interior damages to the RV as noted above. Grand Design approved the frame repairs under the 5 year frame warranty. This work on the frame was concluded on Friday, May 30, 2025. To date, we have been diligently working with General RV, Draper, Utah to have Grand Design approve the claim to have the interior damages repaired that are a direct affect of the frame flex damages, however, to date Grand Design has denied to approve this portion of the claim extended under the 5 year frame warranty.Read more

While driving at approximately 70 mph on a highway, the rear subframe of the vehicle suddenly and catastrophically failed. This caused the vehicle to fishtail violently and nearly led to a serious highway accident. I was able to regain control and pull off the road safely, but the vehicle was no longer drivable and had to be towed. An inspection by a certified technician confirmed that the rear s
... ubframe rusted from the inside and experienced a complete structural failure. One of the suspension control arms even broke off of the subframe due to rust. The vehicle showed no warning lights or symptoms prior to the incident. The road was dry and free of potholes or debris, and the car had been properly maintained and garage-kept for the prior 16 years. This issue is a known defect in Mercedes-Benz vehicles of similar design. Mercedes-Benz has extended the subframe warranty for C-Class vehicles from model years 2008–2015 due to widespread internal subframe corrosion. However, this vehicle (2006 model year) is not covered, despite experiencing the same failure. The corrosion originated from inside the subframe, indicating a manufacturing or materials defect rather than environmental exposure. This failure posed a severe risk to my safety and the safety of others, especially since it occurred at highway speeds without warning. The problem has been documented in other vehicles and is the subject of a current class-action lawsuit (Case § 1:23-cv-00636 in the state of Georgia).Read more

On Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, the glass panel located between the windshield and sunroof on my 2020 Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG unexpectedly detached and flew off while driving. This posed a serious safety risk to me and others on the road. There were no prior warning lights, messages, or symptoms before the failure occurred. This appears to have resulted from heat stress weakening the bonding that secu
... res the panel to the vehicle—an issue consistent with NHTSA Recall 23V854000. That recall covers my exact year, make, and model, yet my specific VIN has not been included for reasons unknown, despite experiencing the exact same failure described in the recall notice. The issue was confirmed by Mercedes-Benz of Boston, where my vehicle is currently located. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. The dealer quoted me approximately $2,200 for repairs but declined to cover the cost under warranty since my VIN is not part of the active recall. I have opened a case with Mercedes-Benz Corporate to request full or partial reimbursement, and I am reporting this to NHTSA so that my VIN may be considered for inclusion in the recall.Read more

About a month ago I saw paint flaking off from about the front windscreen where the sunroof meets the body about quarter sized. The paint appeared not to hold to the body of the vehicle even though the primer was applied. A month later it's about the size of 2 credit cards and definitely the primer on the vehicle is not holding the paint and is a manufacturer defect. I reported this to the dealer
... but they said it's out of warrenty. Other owners with this vehicle reported the same flaking from the same area on online forums and on the news. I would like the manufacturer to fix this before rusting happens on the body of the car and more serious issues occur. The upper right front side of the fifth wheel trailer is separating from the trailer frame in the pin box area. The structure of the trailer seems to not be properly connected to the frame or there is flex in the frame that is causing the structure to detach. Grand Design has released a Technical Service Bulletin that covers fifth wheel models Solitude and Momentum that have this same issues but that Technical Service Bulletin does not cover Reflection models. The same issue that is plaguing the Solitude and Momentum models is affecting the Reflection model, but is not included to be repaired under the Technical Service Bulletin.Read more

Subject: Safety Concern – Hood Instability on 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid Dear NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a potential safety defect with my 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid. The hood does not close securely and exhibits visible gaps, uneven alignment, and noticeable movement or rattling at highway speeds. This raises serious concerns about the structural integrity of the hood and the possibility o
... f it disengaging while driving. I brought this issue to Lia Honda, where I was told the movement is “by design” and not a defect. However, the instability is significant enough to cause distraction and fear of hood failure at high speeds. I believe this warrants further investigation, especially as I’ve learned that other CR-V Hybrid owners have reported similar experiences. I respectfully request that this issue be documented and reviewed as a potential safety defect. I am happy to provide photos, videos, or additional documentation upon request.Read more

Component that failed: Driver-side mirror actuator on my 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T (power-folding, auto-dimming mirror). It intermittently malfunctions by tilting completely up or down without input, making it impossible to see out of the mirror while driving. Safety risk: Yes — this defect significantly compromises visibility on the driver’s side, especially when changing lanes or merging. It ha
... s nearly caused multiple accidents due to blind spot obstruction. Reproduction/confirmation: Yes — the issue was originally diagnosed and repaired under warranty by Genesis of Cumming in July 2023. The exact same issue has recurred. Genesis of Gwinnett has confirmed the mirror needs replacement but refuses coverage. Inspection: The vehicle has been inspected by multiple Genesis dealerships and was referred from Classic Collision (where mirror was replaced during accident repair). All agree the part is malfunctioning again, but Genesis Motor America has refused further assistance. Warning lamps/messages: There were no warning lights, but the failure presents physically as the mirror moving on its own without any driver input and staying locked in an unusable position until manually readjusted — sometimes repeatedly during the same drive. Assessment: This is a safety-critical failure that Genesis previously repaired under warranty and has now refused to take responsibility for. The issue affects visibility and endangers both the driver and others on the road.Read more
