The rear hatch will randomly close after it is opened. The hatch will not stop closing if someone is standing under it. Several times now it has closed while someone is getting something out of the back and you can not make it stop without quickly getting out of the way and pressing the button. Both, myself and my wife have been hit pretty hard on the head by the hatch closing on us. This is a
... HUGE safety concern as I have children that could easily be harmed by the sheer power of this hatch. I have had the issue inspected by an independent shop and was informed that it would need both new power struts at a cost of over $1,200! The van is only 5 years old with 75,000 miles! There are no warning lights, messages or problems prior to the failure.Read more

I am submitting this formal complaint regarding a serious safety incident involving my 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB, which directly reflects the defect outlined in Recall 20V-480 (Rear Spoiler Detachment). Although my VIN is not officially included in the affected range, the exact failure described in the recall occurred on my vehicle. On or about June 16, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., I was drivin
... g and I noticed an object in my rearview mirror that had become airborne and was causing vehicles behind me to swerve to avoid it. Moments later, two separate vehicles pulled up alongside me, and the drivers began waving their arms to get my attention. I exited the roadway and pulled into the Walmart parking lot, where a couple in a pickup truck approached me and informed me that the rear spoiler of my vehicle had flown off. I got out to inspect the vehicle, and indeed, the spoiler was completely gone. I returned to the area where I first saw the airborne object, attempting to locate the detached part, but was unsuccessful in recovering it. I contacted Mercedes-Benz USA and my local dealership on June 17, 2025, and was told that because my vehicle’s VIN is not listed under the recall, I would be responsible for the full cost of inspection and repair. Frankly, that position is unacceptable for the following reasons: - Recall 20V-480 describes a defect involving improperly welded rear spoilers on 2020 GLB250 models, which can detach while driving. That is exactly what happened to my vehicle under normal conditions. - The spoiler detached while the vehicle was in motion, creating a dangerous road hazard—just as outlined in the recall. - The vehicle has never been involved in a collision or sustained rear-end damage. It has not been subjected to outside interference. - My VIN has been included in at least five previous recalls, underscoring that my vehicle was part of broader quality issues during that production period.Read more

So I just had my oil changed. And when they shut the hood, the hood stop fell out the bottom. They really just glued the hood stop on? This is allowed? And they didn't even do it properly. And I'd know. I'm a former ASE Certified Master Tech. First, they used the adhesive as a spacer to make the square bracket sit 90 degrees to the ground on a curved panel. Unnecessary since you can't see the bra
... cket with the hood closed. Second, they didn't rough up either surface for adhesion and, they didn't put any adhesive BETWEEN the bracket and the body, (except for where they used the adhesive as a wedge spacer). They just put the panel bond over the bracket. Looks like they used half a tube on each one. The bracket has 2 holes in it for #8 screws. Why didn't they use those? The panel adhesive costs like $80-$100 bucks a tube. 4 bolts with washers and nyloc nuts are about $2. Imagine if that had fallen off while driving and bounced up and punctured the LP line, or fuel line, or tire, or G*d forbid a BRAKE LINE. Or even worse. What about when that chunk of steel come bounding out from under my vehicle and goes right through the car windshield behind me. And you just know it would have happened at the worst possible time like going down hill in a construction zone at night in the rain. Now those things did not happen this time. But have they? I pulled the remaining adhesive off BY HAND with very little effort. How many other parts have they just “glued on”? They make a lot of motorhomes. Is this their normal practice? How many accidents have they caused they don’t even know about? Please investigate this company’s production practices.Read more

I purchased my Kia sorento in August of 2024 in April 2025 my Kia went into limp mode p1326. It was determined to be part of the ksds recall but all they did is replace the sensor. Hood wobbles crazy while driving highway speed as if it is going to open or come out. Seem the outer panel of hood has rust by the joints where it is joined to the inner panel of the hood. Almost all the joints seem to be not joined well together. This is a structural body issue, car is less than 3 years old. And Currently I have about 55K miles on it. Noticed the hood wobble when it had less than
... 30,000 miles but upon checking under the hood there were no visible signs of defect. But recently(51K mile roughly) after a car wash I opened the hood to see the inside of the car, that's when I noticed that the hood inner joints have rust and are not joint together properly with inner panel of the hood. Reached out to the dealership but they deny to fix this as it has been more than 36000 miles. At the dealership there was another person with 2025 Honda crv, I checked with the owner to let me see if his car had similar issue or not. Upon checking the hood his car's one of the joint was loose ( given that car is less than an year old so there was no rust.) Seems Honda is used some adhesive to stick the metal panels of the hood together which start to deteriorate over time. There are many crv owners who are having similar issue but the dealership resolves the issue for them given that they have less than 36000 miles on it. Honda does have "Rust Perforation Limited warranty" which is valid until 5 years, But for them to fix the car there has to be rust perforation aka hole in the panel inside out to fix it. Does this mean I have to wait for another 2 years and 5 months for the rust to progress and cause a hole in the panel inside out?? What if i start seeing the rust perforation right after 5 years. Honda will fix this for me or I have to pay out of my pocket to get it fixed. Also my car has never been in any kind of accident, it has the panel which came from the Honda Factory. Also it is not a flood vehicle either for it to start getting rust. Please see attached pics.Read more

The frame on my 2006 Toyota Tundra SR5 has severe corrosion and multiple areas of rust perforation despite being treated under Toyota’s Limited Service Campaign D0D in 2015. During that campaign, the dealer removed the bed, documented active rust on the frame, cleaned it, and applied Corrosion-Resistant Compound (CRC) to key areas as the preventative remedy. As documented in multiple repairs the
... corrosion was already advancing at the time the CRC was applied, the steering shaft boot was replaced the same day as the compound was put on at 93,822 miles, several other critical safety failure shortly after; the brake pivots seized at 94900, Rotors rust pitted at 99537, bumper had perforations at 109407, 1 brake line from master cylinder and 1 brake line from ABS actuator leaking near the junction block on L/S of the frame at 113422, 52 days later the shift cable was broken at 114904. The current perforation and delamination indicate that the D0D remedy failed to prevent structural degradation as intended. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle’s structural integrity is severely compromised, creating a risk of frame failure while driving. This puts my safety and the safety of others at risk due to potential loss of control or component separation. The problem has not yet been inspected by the dealer in its current condition but has been escalated to Toyota Corporate. I have attached the communications with them. The truck has been fully serviced through Toyota since new, with the last documented service in January 2021. There were no warning lamps or dashboard messages prior to the failure. Visible rust first appeared prior to the D0D treatment and has now progressed to full perforation. The vehicle is currently unsafe to drive.Read more

After filing my first concern with the vehicle and attempting to rack my brain with answers to why a 2018 is falling apart at the seams, I can only come up with either fraud, or the vehicle has been modified in major ways and glued together only to fall apart every bump I go over. After some reading I’m questioning 49 CFR part 565 form that was turned in after I purchased the vehicle means that
... I possibly have a replica, “remanufactured”, or altered vehicle. I’m not sure of the legality of selling a vehicle built from whatever vehicles I have, I do know that parts are not all the same years upon scanning modules I got some strange replacement identifiers that I will send. I also question if it really passed emissions being that my short term fuel trim sensor passed the catalytic converter on both sides stays over 99% consistently, also one of the “inspection” reports was done 2 minutes apart and the paper states that the vehicle passed at 5:08 then failed at 5:10 pm the same day. Not many vehicles tend to try again after passing and 2 minutes apart. I would have never bought a vehicle that not only has random foreign parts but a 2015 vehicle is also showing up under module information. I’ll never have recall information, and it seems that every system in the vehicle meant to warn or save me and my family when driving is compromised completely, yet somehow someone was allowed to pretend that I was buying a 2018 jeep Sahara unlimited with no record on carfax that what I am paying over 50 grand for with tax doesn’t just get bad gas and jump half the road when I hit a bump “because it’s a Jeep”. I should have been made aware that I was buying something scrapped, and that the odometer could be from any of them. I would like to receive a report of the form filed months after I purchased the vehicle and my entire jeep changed description and was no longer being monitored for safety. The rear hardtop panel on my 2022 Ford Bronco has developed serious cracking and surface separation after only three years of light, garage-kept use. The fiberglass is fracturing near the seams, exposing the underlying material. Water is now visibly collecting in the openings, which will lead to internal moisture intrusion, mold, and eventually corrosion of structural components underneath the har
... dtop mounting area. This poses a serious long-term safety concern, especially in the event of rear impacts or rollover situations. A Ford dealer inspected the issue and submitted a warranty claim, which was denied. The Ford representative acknowledged the damage but said they could not act without a recall or broader investigation. No warning lights or messages appeared; the issue is external and has progressed gradually. The damage began well before my bumper-to-bumper coverage expired, but has recently worsened. Ford’s own General Service Bulletin GSB 23-7174 lists rear hardtop panel cracking and edge delamination as warrantable conditions. My panel clearly fits those descriptions. Still, I was quoted nearly $10,000 for a full replacement, which is unreasonable. This is not an isolated case. Many 2021–2022 Bronco owners have posted identical problems online. Ford is clearly aware of this issue—which is why they issued that bulletin—but is denying claims unless pressured through complaints. I believe this is a materials or manufacturing defect and ask NHTSA to investigate this clear and ongoing failure.Read more

I am reporting a significant safety issue related to my 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport involving sunroof water intrusion that has caused serious electrical failures throughout the vehicle. Shortly after owning the vehicle, I began to notice water leaking from the sunroof area, which has now caused malfunctions in the electrical system. These include: •Unresponsive or erratic infotainment and
... dashboard displays •Malfunctioning electronic safety features •Water pooling near or inside the footwell •Warning lights and errors on the instrument panel •Intermittent failure of lights, power seats, and other electronic systems This defect poses a safety hazard because electrical components exposed to water may fail while the vehicle is in operation, possibly leading to loss of vehicle control, disabled safety systems (e.g., airbags or brakes), or electrical shorts that could result in a fire. Upon researching, I discovered that this is a known issue in multiple Land Rover and Range Rover models, including Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) issued in prior years. It appears to stem from poor drainage design or faulty sunroof seals, and the location of sensitive electronic modules beneath areas prone to leaks. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue to determine whether it qualifies for a recall, and to ensure Land Rover is held accountable for resolving what appears to be a widespread and dangerous design flaw. Please contact me for additional documentation, photos, or repair records. I am currently working with a dealership, and I may pursue action under New Jersey’s Lemon Law if this is not resolved.Read more

The paint has severely faded, chipping, and it is not from environmental factors- I have less than 30,000 miles on a 2016 Buick Verano. There are multiple websites confirming other consumers have had the same issues with their 2015/2016 Buick Verano.

Dear Highway Safety Authority Officer I am writing to formally request an investigation into a potential safety concern involving structural rust on the engine subframe (engine cradle) of the Audi A6, particularly in models from 2012 There have been growing concerns among owners and independent mechanics regarding excessive and premature rust and corrosion affecting the structural integrity of the
... engine mounting frame. In some cases, this corrosion could potentially compromise the stability of the engine or the safety of the vehicle during operation. Given the importance of this component to both drivability and crash safety, this issue merits further inspection. I am bringing this to your attention in hopes that your office will investigate whether this represents a broader manufacturing or design defect, and if a recall or safety advisory might be warranted. For your reference, the vehicle in question is: Make/Model: Audi A6 Model Year: 2012 VIN : [XXX] Description of issue: Extensive rust to the frame and some cracks I am happy to provide additional documentation or photographs to assist in the review process. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Ensuring the structural safety of vehicles on the road is of utmost importance, and I appreciate your diligence. Hi there - I know my vin number doesn't recall the front stationary roof panel replacement but this came to my attention as I saw that the panel has faded the top coating and the edges have some very thin cracks I will say. I was not aware of such a thing but googling the issue I found out that NHTSA did start a campaign for this particular safety issue last year. Campaign No. 2024010012, March 20
... 24. My Mercedes falls completely on the requirements for repairing/replacing this front panel as the model, year, and type of material of this panel but yet no recall with my vin number. Just wondering if this is a mistake or something else that I don't know. For now I haven't driven the car for the safety concerns until I have any explanations. Your response in this matter will be very appreciated ! Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
