The door lock of the driver's door is stuck in the locked position and the door cannot be unlocked or opened. It will not unlock using the key fob, nor with the manual control inside the door, nor with the emergency key from outside the car. This could trap an inured driver inside the car in the event of an accident. The car has not yet been inspected by anyone. There was no warning lamps or mess
... ages prior to the failure. Earlier that same day the door failed to open while in gear but did so when I shifted to park. As this car was very recently purchased by me and I am still learning about it, I failed to recognize this a symptom of an impending failure. Regardless of that warning, total failure occurred the same day. As a graduate engineer who has worked in engineering related fields for more then 50 years I can recognize that a failure mode such as this is both a health and safety hazard to occupants in the event of an accident and a design defect that should not be allowed to be sold to the general public. Thank you for any consideration you give this complaint.Read more

I am submitting this complaint regarding a persistent water intrusion defect in my 2022 Nissan Rogue Platinum that Nissan has not formally addressed through a recall, despite published Technical Service Bulletins acknowledging the issue. During periods of heavy rain and when using automated car washes, water enters the cabin from the sunroof area on both the passenger and driver sides. I discover
... ed this only after observing blue soap residue running down the interior side panels, and upon further inspection have since noticed signs of mold growth inside the vehicle within the past month. After researching this problem, I learned that this issue is well documented and widespread among 2021–2023 Nissan Rogue vehicles. Nissan has issued multiple Technical Service Bulletins, including TSB BT21-020B, identifying defective sunroof drain clips and revised repairs. However, Nissan has not issued a recall or formal owner notification, despite the clear pattern of failure reported online across consumer forums, Reddit, and Nissan owner communities with hundreds, if not thousands, of similar complaints. I was forced to seek repair through a local Nissan dealership, which charged me $289.24 for the repair. This defect is not the result of wear and tear or misuse, but of an inherently defective design component that allows water intrusion into sealed vehicle compartments. This defect creates health risks from mold exposure, risks damage to interior components and electronics, and reduces vehicle resale value. I believe Nissan should have issued a safety recall rather than shifting financial responsibility to owners for correcting a known manufacturing defect. Continued water intrusion and mold formation represent a health and safety concern that warrants NHTSA review. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this matter and require Nissan to issue a recall or provide reimbursement coverage to affected owners. Thank you for your consideration.Read more

The 2016 Toyota Frame Rust Settlement (Burns v. Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.): This $3.4 billion class action directly addresses premature corrosion in 2007–2008 Tundras (and similar models). ... even after HOF. My rusted-through fuel tank strap and holes in the rear cross member qualify. HOF RO# XXX. Claim #XXX My 2008 Tundra SR5 TRD was treated with HOF in Nov 2017. In November 2025 my mechanic told me the gas tank was falling out as the straps that hold the tank in place were completely rotted out. And rust perforation was on the rear cross member. He instructed me to get a safety inspection at a Toyota dealership to document the rust. Toyota of Waldorf didn’t even schedule a appt, they told me to call the Brand Engagement Center and that there was no possibility of repair because Toyota had no frames. Brand engagement refused to provide any guidance. I scheduled an inspection at Koons Toyota of Annapolis, which it failed inspection with multiple >10mm frame holes and a rusted-through tank strap (held by bungee). They deemed it unsafe to operate and unrepairable. They kept leaving out the information about the rust or the holes until they realized I was not leaving until they documented it properly. I have 3 versions. Despite ZH7 expiration, this is a post-HOF recurrence and safety hazard. I requested goodwill repurchase at 1.5x KBB (~$12k) under the settlement’s intent. The Brand Engagement Center had me call them and [XXX] ” announced she was my case manager, then almost as quickly announced it was going to “Internal Dept” for repurchase review, that she would no longer be my case manager, and that they would get back to me in 60 days. The power tailgate on my 2021 Honda Odyssey suddenly failed. A “power tailgate problem” warning appeared, and the tailgate became completely inoperable. It would not latch manually or automatically, even when applying force. The latch would spring back open, and no mechanical sound came from the door. Because the tailgate would not latch, the interior lights stayed on, and the vehicle continu
... ed to display “tailgate open” warnings. I could not secure the tailgate for driving, which created a safety hazard since the door could not be properly closed during travel. A few days later, both sliding doors also stopped functioning, and none of the powered doors (tailgate or sliding doors) would operate from the interior switches, exterior buttons, or key fob. The Honda service center inspected the vehicle and reported that the tailgate control module was corroded and had clear evidence of water damage. They stated that they would not replace the module until the vehicle was evaluated by a body shop because a water leak was likely present and would continue damaging components. The body shop later confirmed that water intrusion was entering through the upper left rear pillar, caused by a leak in the roof seam area. Water traveled into the rear side panel and damaged the tailgate control module and related electrical systems. Their findings were documented and also confirmed by my insurance inspector. Prior to the failure, there were no symptoms. The only warning occurred at the moment the system failed (“power tailgate problem”). The issue occurred without any impact, accident, or misuse. The defects caused multiple powered doors to become inoperable, which is a significant safety risk for both passengers and the driver. Based on publicly available information, this appears to be a recurring problem in 2018–2021 Honda Odyssey vehicles involving water leaks near the rear pillar leading to electrical control module failures.Read more

My 2022 Acura MDX A-Spec developed an electrical problem where I heard an extremely loud pop come from the stereo system before it stopped working and then the infotainment screen stopped working as well. ... By searching the internet, I found that this was a known manufacturer’s defect with this specific model that had been made known to the dealership and they did nothing about it.
