We purchased this vehicle as a Honda Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. I have included a copy of the 182-Point Inspection Checklist that I received when I/we purchased the vehicle. The issue is the weatherstripping on both sides of the middle row. The material does not fit the area and causes wind and weather to effect the interior of the vehivcle. We feel that this issue is a manufacturer defec
... t and should have been detected/rectified during that 182-Point Inspection. My wife and myself are the only user of the vehicle and we never have a reason to sit in the middle row. Per chance, our daughter's dog was in the middle row and when I turned to check on him, I noticed that weatherstripping issue. Upon reaching home, I further noticed that the issue existed on both the passenger and driver side - middle row doors. I also found a Technical Information & Support Group bulletin addressed to "All Honda Service Managers/Advisors", "RE: Request for Parts: 2023-2024 Accord & CR-V Rear Door Weatherstrip". I realize this bulletin does not address my year vehicle but wanted to bring to light that this seems to be an issue that is prevalent on the CR-V. We notified the dealer who inspected and confirmed that the issue exists but were told that because the care is not longer under original warranty, the repair would cost us $600+. We have since notified American Honda USA under the extended warranty we purchased and feel that they are dragging their feet on this issue. I received a call from American Honda USA and agreed to a settlement to have the issue resolved at the dealer where we bought the vehicle for a total out-of-pocket to me of $200 + taxes. I was supposed to get a call from the dealer to schedule the repair but nothing. I contacted Honda America once again and am being told it is being looked into.Read more

I am reporting a recurring safety defect involving the front bumper assembly on my brand-new Toyota Camry Hybrid. The front bumper repeatedly detaches, separates, and pulls away from the vehicle during normal driving conditions. This has occurred multiple times despite repeated repair attempts by the authorized Toyota dealership. Toyota and the dealership have acknowledged that this is a known is
... sue affecting other vehicles and have admitted that there is currently no permanent repair remedy available. Despite this, the defect has been misclassified as “cosmetic,” which is inaccurate and unsafe. The bumper is a critical safety component designed to absorb and distribute crash forces. A bumper that is already detached or partially unsecured compromises crash force pathways and reduces occupant protection in the event of a collision. If an accident occurs, the bumper cannot perform its intended safety function, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, I can hear air intrusion entering the vehicle through the front area where the bumper is separating, confirming that the vehicle’s exterior seal and structural integrity are compromised while driving. This vehicle has never been in an accident and is operated under normal conditions. A front bumper should not detach on a new vehicle. This is not a cosmetic concern it is a safety defect that places occupants at risk. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue as a potential pattern defect and require Toyota to address it as a safety matter rather than mislabeling it to avoid corrective action.Read more

I’m unable to address recall NHTSA 25V572, Ford program 25S89, a rear camera issue affecting my 2015 Lincoln MKC. The dealership made two attempts ordering parts on backorder to address the recall at my service appointment today. After receiving parts last week, Ford told dealers they do not recommend installing these parts to address the recall—the dealer also said they do not know the proced
... ure or replacement parts Ford will recommend to address the rear view camera recall on a later date. They also believe Ford will now replace the entire camera vs replace components. I have no problem with the approach to replace the camera if that’s the case. And I also realize this is not the dealership’s fault; however, there is a huge disconnect and communication gap from Ford quality that must be addressed. It’s been challenging to order parts for this recall and wait months, only to discover Ford no longer knows how to address a fix my vehicle needs. I appreciate if NHTSA could investigate ongoing issues and delay for this recall. I’m happy to provide more details if necessary. Thank you!Read more

When I purchased the car new, and brought it home I noticed the windows seemed a little dirty, so I proceeded to wash them, At that point I noticed a blurry windshield with what appeared to be sticky spots. No matter how often I washed them it never got better. Went back to the dealer, they washed them, but no better. After making an appointment with the service department they confirmed the w

So even though the windshield has been replaced, it is no better with the same problem, also a little worse. When you drive into the sun it becomes very blurry and somewhat distorted, and more noticeable, And there is some sort of a film over the windshield causing the glare and blurriness. Since they replaced it there is nothing else the car dealer can do for me, So I'm stuck with it. It is very difficult to drive into the sun, it really effects me. This is not regarding an accident, but the fact that the dealer sold me a brand new 2026 Chevy Equinox with a defective windshield. Date of purchase: 7/15/25.Read more

Year/Make/Model: 2017 Hyundai Elantra ________________________________________ Component or System Involved Exterior paint and primer adhesion on multiple body panels. Affected areas are available for inspection upon request. Description of the Problem This vehicle has experienced progressive paint peeling and delamination over approximately five years. The issue was first reported to Hyundai at a
... pproximately 60,000 miles, when peeling was limited. Since that time, large sections of paint have peeled from the hood, roof, and other exterior panels, exposing bare metal. Hyundai reviewed the condition and declined assistance. Hyundai has acknowledged similar paint and primer adhesion failures on certain vehicles through Warranty Extension Z05 and related Technical Service Bulletins. My vehicle, while not included due to paint color, exhibits the same type of paint failure. Safety Risk Paint delamination presents potential safety concerns, including glare from exposed surfaces, driver distraction, and the possibility of paint material detaching from the vehicle while in motion. Confirmation or Reproduction of the Problem The condition has been visually confirmed by the vehicle owner and reviewed by Hyundai. Inspections by Others The vehicle’s paint condition has been inspected by Hyundai representatives. Warning Lamps or Symptoms No warning lamps or messages are associated with this condition. The issue developed progressively over time. ________________________________________ Request for Review I am requesting that NHTSA review whether paint delamination and primer adhesion defects acknowledged by Hyundai may extend beyond the currently covered paint colors and affect additional vehicles of the same make and model. This is now the second time that we are having a rear hatch failure. with about 37,000 miles on this van, the control module shorted out due to water getting into it due to a bad seam (according to other Odyssey owners who are suing Honda for this). We could not get the hatch to open or close, so I paid the dealer to fix it. Honda did give us a check after the fact to cover some of the bill.
... Now, with less than 51,000 miles, it has happened again. The hatch will not open or close. In the event of an emergency, this is a major safety issue, to be potentially stuck inside the cabin. The hatch started going up and down randomly, and we could not control it. Now, it won't go up or down. This van is is a mess. Not only does it have this issues, but the rear back up camera still does not work, even though it was recalled...they would not honor their recall, and the brakes occasionally come on without cause, when going around a corner and there is oncoming traffic. It thinks that we are headed for a collision, and it's another safety problem here in the northeast. Honda needs to own up to their quality problems relative to these three safety issues.Read more

The front trunk (frunk) on my 2026 Tesla Model Y Juniper lacks both internal lighting and an emergency safety release mechanism. This design flaw creates an unnecessary and severe safety risk, as a small adult or child could easily become trapped in the frunk with no way to signal for help or escape. In low-light conditions—such as at night or in a garage without adequate illumination—the abse
... nce of a light would exacerbate disorientation and panic for anyone trapped. Without an internal release latch or glow-in-the-dark handle (standard in many vehicle trunks to prevent entrapment deaths), this could lead to a life-threatening suffocation or injury situation, especially if the frunk is accidentally closed on a person during loading/unloading. I discovered this issue while inspecting the frunk during routine cleaning and noticed that my four-year-old sat very comfortably inside the frunk listening to music while I cleaned the car. No incident has occurred yet, but the potential for harm is clear and warrants immediate investigation, as it violates basic entrapment-prevention standards observed in rear trunks and other vehicles. This defect compromises occupant safety and should be addressed through a recall or a retrofit that includes an illuminated emergency release. Please investigate similar complaints for this model year.Read more

I am filing a safety complaint regarding unresolved recalls on my 2018 Ford Explorer (VIN: [XXX] ). FIRST RECALL: Over two years ago, I was notified to repair the exterior A-pillar trim/window shields. The dealer in Yakima, WA, placed me on a waiting list and said the part was unavailable. I have been waiting over two years with no resolution. Recently, while driving on the highway, this part fel
... l off and struck the windshield of another vehicle behind me, creating a dangerous situation and potential for serious injury. The dealer refused to repair it for free, stating I must either wait longer or purchase the part myself, despite this being a manufacturer safety recall. This long delay and refusal put my safety and the safety of others at risk. It also caused stress, confrontation, and concern for my financial obligations, as I continue paying for a vehicle with unresolved safety defects. SECOND RECALL: The high-speed cooling fan motor relay recall was not properly addressed. The dealer only started the vehicle, stated the fan worked, and performed no inspection or repair, leaving a potential hazard unresolved. FORD RESPONSE: I reported these incidents to Ford Customer Service, but they said the situation did not qualify for opening a case. I strongly disagree, as these are confirmed safety recalls and one part already failed during driving. ADDITIONAL CONCERNS: I am still making monthly payments for this vehicle while unresolved recalls continue to appear. The ongoing failure to repair these defects, despite multiple reports, creates financial and safety burdens. I request NHTSA to investigate these matters, require Ford to complete all recall repairs properly, and hold the dealer accountable for their refusal to provide free safety repairs in a timely manner. Thank you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Immediately afterward, the rear window suddenly and violently exploded, sending glass shards into t

There was no prior damage to the window, no visible cracks before the incident, and no collision that would reasonably explain the shattering of tempered glass. The explosion appeared spontaneous and disproportionate to the minor contact with twigs. This incident raises serious concerns about rear window glass integrity and the risk of injury to passengers, particularly children seated near the rear of the vehicle.Read more

The passenger-side power sliding door system failed to stop or reverse when it encountered physical interference with the vehicle’s open fuel door. The door continued opening under power despite clear obstruction by a fixed exterior body component. The affected components, including the sliding door mechanism and damaged fuel door latch, remain available for inspection upon request. A powered sl
... iding door continuing to operate against an obstruction creates a foreseeable risk of injury to occupants or bystanders, as well as vehicle damage. If a person’s hand, arm, or clothing had been in the same position as the fuel door, injury could have occurred. The incident occurred during normal vehicle use and demonstrates inadequate safeguards against obstruction. The issue has been formally reproduced or confirmed by an independent service center which noted that the incident occurred as described during normal operation of the power sliding door, and no abnormal conditions were present at the time. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms appeared prior to the incident. The power sliding door operated normally and without indication of malfunction until it failed to stop when encountering the open fuel door. Fueling the vehicle with the fuel door open is routine and expected vehicle use. The absence of any interlock, sensor logic, or safeguard preventing a powered sliding door from operating against an open body panel represents a design deficiency rather than a maintenance or wear issue. This condition may affect other vehicles equipped with similar power sliding door systems and warrants evaluation.Read more
