My vehicle was recently in for service and upon inspection the technician observed a rusted fuel tank shield. The reason this problem occurs is because of a process called galvanic corrosion. The fuel tank shield is bolted onto an aluminum heat shield, and the pairing of these two different metals accelerates the corrosion. While there is no specific national NHTSA recall for the 2017 Range Rove
... r fuel tank shield rusting out, it is a known issue caused by insufficient protective coating, often leading to severe corrosion where the steel shield meets the aluminum chassis. The issue is commonly discussed as a design flaw, potentially causing the shield holding the fuel tank to fail. Upon researching this issue, Land Rover has acknowledged this problem and has given priority due to the fact that this is a safety issue being that these shields are also responsible for holding the tanks in place. Furthermore, Land Rover will grant me a credit for the repair but the only way I can qualify is if I personally report it to the federal government then a customer experience specialist from Land Rover reaches out to me and offers me a credit.Read more

During normal winter operation with the heater in use, the center console area becomes excessively hot. I have measured surface temperatures exceeding approximately 130°F using an infrared thermometer. The affected area includes interior touch surfaces, cup holders, and a factory-installed wireless phone charging pad. The heat appears to originate from HVAC ducting routed through the center cons
... ole to supply the rear seat vents. Closing the rear vents does not reduce the console temperature, indicating heat transfer through the ducting rather than airflow. The condition is most severe after a warm-soak cycle (driving to operating temperature, briefly parking, then driving again). When a phone is placed in the intended storage or wireless charging area, the device overheats and triggers thermal protection warnings. The console surfaces also become hot enough to present a potential burn risk with prolonged skin contact. These temperatures exceed recommended ambient conditions for consumer electronics and lithium-ion batteries in a normal-use interior storage and charging location. The issue was reported to a Hyundai dealership. The service department stated the heat was caused by the rear HVAC duct and considered the condition “normal.” No repair, insulation review, or corrective action was offered, and no specific temperature measurements were provided in writing. Hyundai Consumer Affairs directed me to return to the same service department, despite the concern remaining unresolved. This condition occurs during normal vehicle operation and represents a potential interior thermal safety concern.Read more

Please see Ford TSB SSM50543. In my case the driver's door has been freezing in the lock position. Door will not unlock and cannot be opened either from the inside or outside. The key in the outside will not unlock the door and pulling up on the knob inside cannot be done (even tried with pliers). The electric door locks for the frozen door do nothing. This made it possible for me to only get
... out of or into the driver's seat by climbing in/out from the passenger's side. I also tried to not lock the driver's door, and this just made the door frozen in the unlock position. Very inconvenient, but I am especially concerned if I had to exit or enter the driver's side in an emergency. Ford knows about this as can be seem from the issued TSB. This had happened more than once and goes away when the inside of the truck gets really warm, or the weather gets above sufficiently over freezing.Read more

Car was assessed for recall related to service bulletin 23-032. Recall was performed, but the mechanic who performed the recall says the car is not repaired because the rear frame corrosion, as described in bulletin 23-032, is so severe that a large piece is missing from the rear frame. The mechanic says the repair as described in the bulletin is not enough to fix the car. The service bulletin rem
... edy was only performed because the rear trailing arm bolts were able to be removed, but the car is still unsafe due to rear frame corrosion that Honda has admitted to as per the recall. The car is considered unsafe due to the frame damage and likely cannot pass state inspection. After calling Honda, Honda says the repair is complete even though the mechanic who performed the recall says the repair is not complete and the car is unsafe due to issues with rear frame corrosion that led to the recall in the first place. Honda is refusing to discuss the issue any further. A screenshot of the damaged part of the rear frame has been attached. This is part of a video taken by the mechanic who performed the recall. In this video the mechanic also states that “this is not a repair.” He also states that part of the damage is obscured by the brace that was attached to the frame, so the image provided does not show the full extent of the damage.Read more

This is a second formal supplemental complaint. Vann York Honda sold this car as new, but a Honda America provided Carfax proved it was a prior personal use vehicle. Repair History The same or substantially similar defects continue and have worsened: • Recurring misalignment/alignment issues from delivery, impairing value and potentially safety. • Safety-related camera system failures: Persistent error codes on the camera(s) [specify if known, e.g., front/rear/ADAS-related], reducing visibility and affecting safe operation (e.g., backup, navigation, Autopilot/FSD if equipped). These are known Tesla issues potentially subject to recall (e.g., rearview camera display loss). • Power windows failure: Unresolved for at least 2 weeks despite service request; windows do not operate properly, impairing use and safety (e.g., emergency egress). Cumulative out-of-service time and failed repair attempts (including the obstructed initial one) meet or approach presumptions under § 1793.22(b): multiple attempts for the same nonconformities, with safety impacts. On 1/20/26, we purchased a ‘24 Chevy Silverado EV from a Chevrolet dealership. 2 days later, on 1/22/26, while my husband was driving on the interstate, the tonneau cover partially detached and flew backwards lifting upwards and flapping violently. One of the metal crossbars detached completely from the tonneau cover and flew off the truck, and a second crossbar began to tear away. The cover wa
... s flapping forcefully which created a highly unstable and dangerous condition. My husband pulled over on the side of the interstate to remove the tonneau cover to prevent it from fully detaching. He placed the cover into the truck bed. This incident occurred suddenly, with no warning. This was a near-miss incident with potentially catastrophic consequences. If the tonneau cover had fully detached, it could have become airborne and struck another vehicle. The crossbar that flew off, could have struck another vehicle, easily penetrating a windshield, causing another driver to lose control, or result in a multi-vehicle collision. The risk of serious injury or fatality was significant. The next day, on 1/23/26, we took the truck and damaged tonneau cover to our local Chevrolet dealership for inspection. The service manager visually inspected the cover and documented the failure. We scheduled an appointment for repair at their soonest availability, 2/4/26. We will not feel comfortable using a new cover unless a modification is made to adequately secure the cover to prevent this from occurring again. We also called the Chevrolet dealership where we purchased the vehicle from and spoke with the general manager to let them know what happened, as they have sold close to 100 of these Chevy Silverado EV’s. They said this has happened to others and they speculate that GM is already aware of this concern. We urge the NHTSA and GM to take immediate action. Please open an investigation and issue a recall before someone is seriously injured or killed. Thank you NHTSA!Read more

In August 2025, AutoNation Toyota on Sahara, checked the VIN of my Toyota Sienna and contacted Toyota while I was present. Toyota confirmed a broken fuel-door hinge was covered under a Customer Support Program. Instead, AutoNation attempted to repair, rather than replace, the hinge. This caused the metal fuel cap door to end up bent, paint to be gouged out from the bottom of the fuel door area, mi
... salignment of the fuel door, and therefore issues with the door’s sensor reading correctly. I took the van back until they received shipment of a new fuel cap door. After the attempted repair, since the fuel door no longer aligned, the safety sensors repeatedly activated which strained the sliding-door ECU. The passenger sliding door began freezing intermittently, forcing my children to exit through the trunk several times. Finally, the door opened on its own as I was driving down the street. These issues did not exist prior to dealership service and presented a clear safety concern. Between October and December, I received conflicting explanations from Gerald, James, Ivan, and Rudy at AutoNation Toyota regarding whether the issue involved the fuel door, ECU, motor, or general wear and tear. AutoNation repeatedly failed to return my calls or respond to the emails I sent them. Toyota Corporate also informed me the dealership was also not responding to their outreach attempts after I contacted them due to not being able to get ahold of AutoNation Toyota. I emailed four managers on October 15 with detailed documentation and received no response. My vehicle remains unsafe, unrepaired, and in the possession of AutoNation Toyota. I approve allowing it to be inspected. While at AutoNation, the vehicle driver could not open the passenger sliding door after AutoNation's attempted repair. They have had my van for 4 months now so no one else has looked at or inspected it. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.Read more

I am submitting this complaint to report a potential vehicle safety defect involving the factory-installed running boards on a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The running boards become extremely slippery during light snow or minimal winter precipitation, creating a significant risk of slipping while entering or exiting the vehicle. This occurs during normal use and does not require heavy snow or ice. I hav
... e experienced multiple near-falls despite stepping carefully, and the condition is repeatable. Given that the Chevrolet Tahoe is commonly used as a family vehicle and may be accessed by children, elderly individuals, or passengers with limited mobility, I am concerned that the running boards present an unreasonable slip hazard under common winter driving conditions. At this time, no injury has occurred; however, the frequency and severity of the slipping raises concern for potential injury if the issue is not addressed. The running boards are factory-installed and have not been modified. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue to determine whether the design or materials of the factory running boards meet reasonable safety standards for normal winter conditions. 2011 Mazda6 A serious safety defect occurred on my vehicle and matches NHTSA Recall 19V-323 / Mazda Recall 2818I (front cross member corrosion due to insufficient coating) despite this recall not being associated with my VIN. Front cross member cracked due to rust, causing loss of steering control, wheel misalignment, and scraping from the front wheel. This is exactly the failure described in the
... recall (breakage of the cross member and reduced steering control, increasing the risk of a crash). My safety and the safety of others were put at risk. Although my VIN is not currently associated with the recall, all conditions of the recall apply to my vehicle: -2011 Mazda6 within the affected production range -Defect is a manufacturing issue (insufficient paint coating) -Vehicle was registered in Missouri from 2023-2025, which is a listed state The only reason this recall was not associated with my VIN is because the vehicle was not registered in Missouri at the exact time of the 2019 recall campaign. This is an administrative gap, not a safety distinction. It should not be allowed to limit a manufacturer safety defect to specific states. Vehicles move across state lines constantly. A defect that causes loss of steering control does not stop being dangerous when a car crosses a border. Registration records alone did not reflect actual vehicle use or risk. If recalls are state-limited, manufacturers and NHTSA must continue tracking registration changes and associate the recall with the VIN as soon as a vehicle becomes registered in an affected state. Rust is progressive and age-related. Since this recall began in 2019 and it is now 2026, affected vehicles are more likely to experience failure, and many are now registered in different states than they were in 2019. I am requesting that NHTSA associate Recall 19V-323 with my VIN, investigate the adequacy of state-limited recall tracking, and take action to prevent this known safety defect from causing additional crashes.Read more

I purchased this vehicle new in June 2020. Since January 2022, it has experienced recurring water intrusion into the passenger cabin during heavy rain. Water leaks from the ceiling around the overhead console near the front reading/map lights. During heavy rain, water pools and causes the interior lights to turn on unexpectedly while driving. Generally, the lights cannot be turned off or immediate
... ly reactivate, creating a safety hazard at night. Water also drips onto the infotainment screen and center stack controls. To try to protect interior electronics, I have used absorbent materials to cover the center stack while parked and to wipe water while driving, which is distracting and unsafe. The issue has occurred repeatedly over multiple years and is reproducible. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by authorized Audi service centers. Repairs have included cleaning sunroof drain tubes, replacing sunroof seals and adhesive pads, installing updated components, and water leak testing. Technicians confirmed water in the sunroof stowage tray and drains, and light malfunctions were attributed to water entering the cabin from the sunroof. Despite these repairs, the water intrusion continues to recur annually. During the most recent inspection, standing water was found in the rear sunroof drains, and sunroof removal and reinstallation was recommended but not covered. Service personnel confirmed the vehicle was properly maintained and not misused. The vehicle has approximately 17,000 miles. Primary symptoms are water dripping from the headliner and unintended activation of interior lighting while driving. Affected components include the sunroof assembly, drains, overhead console, and interior electrical systems. Other owners have reported similar issues, and multiple NHTSA Technical Service Bulletins acknowledge water entry from sunroof drains and seals. When I contacted Audi of America, I was informed that multiple complaints had been received, even that week.Read more

I am requesting executive-level review and assistance regarding a documented paint failure on my 2022 Toyota Tacoma, finished in paint code 040 (Super White). Toyota has informed me that my VIN is not included in Customer Support Program #XXX. However, this determination does not align with the physical condition of my vehicle, which exhibits the same defect described in that program. The paint on
... the upper door frame surrounding the driver’s side rear cab window is actively peeling, with bare metal exposed. This is not cosmetic wear, environmental damage, or owner neglect. It is a manufacturing paint failure, occurring in a non-wear area and consistent with issues documented on other 2022 Tacoma vehicles with Super White paint. Exposed metal presents legitimate concerns regarding corrosion, long-term durability, and diminished resale value—none of which should occur on a vehicle of this age. Toyota’s reputation for quality is the reason I purchased this truck, and this experience has been both disappointing and frustrating. I am requesting that Toyota acknowledge the defect based on physical evidence, not solely VIN eligibility criteria, and provide a fair resolution, including inspection and repair or repainting of the affected area. I respectfully ask that this matter be escalated for review and resolution consistent with Toyota’s commitment to customer satisfaction and product quality. The vehicle has experienced repeated electrical failures over an extended period of time despite multiple repair attempts. After the most recent repair, which required the vehicle to be kept for approximately 10 days and included a battery replacement, the same electrical issue returned shortly after the vehicle was returned. The vehicle has previously stalled in traffic, creating a safety concer
... n. In addition, the sunroof collapsed into the passenger compartment while a rear-seat passenger, who was a child, was present. A seat belt malfunction also occurred and required repair. Repairs have been attempted for these issues, but safety-related problems have continued. I do not feel the vehicle is safe to operate, especially when transporting a child.Read more

Front driver side bottom bumper has unclipped randomly. I’ve spoken to a group with other 2023 Kia K5 GT-Line owners and at minimum 30 others have had the same exact clip from the bumper randomly detach. This could cause a hazard for other drivers if the bumper were to detach and possibly hang while driving at a high speed on the freeway.

door-handle safety recall had previously been completed on this vehicle. While driving at normal city speed, the front passenger door opened unexpectedly while a passenger was seated inside, creating a serious safety risk. The passenger was restrained by a seat belt, preventing ejection. The vehicle was taken to a Volkswagen dealership, which inspected the vehicle and documented that multiple doo
... r latch bolts were missing and another bolt was loose following a Volkswagen-authorized door-handle repair. The dealership stated the condition was related to prior repair workmanship. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure. Due to safety concerns, the vehicle was towed rather than driven after the incident. The vehicle remains available for inspection.Read more

Water entered the passenger cabin of my vehicle during normal rain exposure while the vehicle was parked overnight. The failure occurred at the roof glass/seal system, allowing rainwater to intrude into the interior behind the second-row seating area and soak the carpet and underlying padding. This resulted in persistent moisture and a strong musty odor inside the cabin, consistent with microbial
... growth and mold risk. The condition affects interior air quality and poses a potential health risk to vehicle occupants, particularly children or passengers seated in the rear. Prolonged moisture inside the cabin also raises safety concerns related to corrosion and possible impact to electrical components, sensors, and restraint systems routed through the interior floor area. The condition substantially impairs safe and normal vehicle use. The presence of moisture and microbial odor makes the vehicle unsuitable for passenger transport and creates uncertainty regarding the integrity of interior and electrical systems. The issue was inspected and confirmed by the manufacturer’s authorized service center. The service center documented that water intrusion occurred through failed or missing sealant around the roof/door glass assembly and confirmed saturation of interior carpet and padding. The manufacturer recommended replacement of interior padding for safety reasons but declined responsibility due to the vehicle being outside the basic warranty period. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to discovery. The issue was identified after rain exposure when wet carpet and odor were observed. The problem is reproducible under rain conditions. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.Read more

On or about May 23 or 24, 2025, while using FSD to park the vehicle, I engaged reverse mode. The vehicle was fully under FSD control during this maneuver. Unexpectedly, the car reversed into a fixed pole, impacting the rear of the vehicle and causing a noticeable dent. The system did detect the collision and stopped upon impact, but failed to avoid it entirely. This incident occurred despite my h
... ands being on the wheel and full attention as a supervising driver, in accordance with Tesla's guidelines for FSD use. I believe this represents a malfunction in the FSD system's object detection or path planning during reverse parking.Read more

There have been several issues for which I had to take my vehicle to the dealer. I did the engine oil recall. Then 4 months later my engine was destroyed. I’ve had several issues with oil leaks. I had an issue with my running boards a few times. And I’ve had an ongoing issue that the dealer hasn’t been able to fix - a water leak (I believe stemming from the moonroof), water gets into my v
... ehicle, on my floorboard, and behind the dash. I’ve called to record these incidents with the dealer and taken it in several times, but they are never able to duplicate it, but they have witnessed the water leakage after the incidents (which happens during heavy downpours, and isn’t all the time because my vehicle is in the garage when I’m not at work).Read more
