On May 9, 2022, sometime during my drive on the HE Bailey Turnpike from Lawton Oklahoma to Oklahoma City, the driver side Pillar Trim of my 2017 Explorer came off; I was driving 70-75 miles per hour, and it was very windy. During the drive, I heard a noise but didn't think much about it until I got out of the car in Oklahoma City. Thats when I noticed the driver Pillar Trim missing. Traffic was
... very light during the drive and to my knowledge, the Pillar Trim did not hit another car or do any damage to anything. If there had been another person or automobile hit by the Pillar Trim, I feel that it could have resulted in an accident or serious injury to a person. I was driving on the freeway in clear weather, no traffic, and smooth driving. Suddenly, the rear spoiler made a loud sound and broke free from the vehicle. The Maxxair fan is a component that sits on the roof of the RV. Looking at the install instructions, the unit is installed by attaching the flange to the roof. What failed was that the 'top' portion of the fan, where the motor and and the cover attachments are, flew off at speed, on the highway. Fortunately, I pulled over right away, and found the unit still attached by the power wires. The
... safety issue would be if a 15"x15"x8" unit weighing about 20 lbs went airborne in traffic, causing an incident for whoever was behind the RV where this happened. IMHO this is a manufacturing defect by Maxxair. These 4 screws should never have worked out, causing the issue. These fans are commonly installed by most major RV mfgrs. We're OK. We have to replace the fan. No one was hurt this time.Read more

I purchased my 2014 BMW i3 from Canada in 2019. It was imported from the U.S and still is registered in the U.S. I brought it into the BMW dealership in Vancouver BC shortly after to do a vehicle inspection. At that time, the dealer printed out a list of defect codes/recalls. It also said that they were done and marked "yes" completed. Fast forward to 2022, I bring my car into the same dealer and
... they said there is a recall not completed to replace the convenience charging electronics KLE and that they would fix for free. My car was not starting and we thought it could have caused the issue. They also noted at that time that the engine mount screws are now split and need to be replaced. I then discovered it was part of an open recall but when I asked about this, they said the recall closed in 2016 and I would now be responsible to replace this part for $3400+ even though it was a known defective BMW part. Upon further research, the initial part replaced was deemed not good enough and the part was upgraded to aluminum (it is currently a plastic mount bracket). I have tried requesting again for them to complete the recall work but they said they told me: " Yes, there was a recall but it was completed in 2016 in san fran by the looks of it. (<--I don't think it was actually completed) "I can't claim it since its done unfortunately... there is no way for me to claim this to you either as the repairs done more than 2 years ago and the car is out of warrant for 4 years. So BMW will just see it as just wear and tear. I tried to see of any ways I could assist you but there isn't a way for me to claim this with BMW" So my issue, and why I am writing you is that they claim the part has been completed but it has not, it is still the original bracket and screw mount. Plus they admitted they still needed to replace the charging electronics when this was apparently also marked as completed. I suspect someone lied about the recall work being done in San Francisco.Read more

Two of the Frame Bolts underneath the front of our E-Pro 19FBS camper are partly rusted and missing a nut (one on driver side and one on passenger side). The other 10 Frame Bolts are not visibly rusted and there is a nut on each one but a few are lo
... ose enough to twist off by hand. The others seem tight enough but we can’t be sure without knowing what torque number they should be tightened to. We double checked the Forest River owner’s manual but there is no mention of Frame Bolts in the 'maintenance' list or anywhere else. Also, there are no lock washers on the frame bolts to prevent self-loosening. This is surprising because it seems these frame bolts are the only thing holding the body of our camper to its frame. We have owned our camper a little over 3 years and we use it 3 to 5 times a year to travel short distances, all on main roads and major highways for camping only on paved or gravel leveled lots. We have never taken the camper off road or towed a heavy load. Our frame bolts should not be so loose that two bolt nuts fell off and a few can be twisted off by hand. We are reporting this Frame Bolt failure because it is something that can cause separation of the RV box from its frame while in motion. We routinely check everything on the camper but not everyone does unless there is a reason to. Maybe what we found is not a common issue but it is worth reporting because paying special attention to Frame Bolts during production (Forest River) , at point of sale (Dealership) and as part of routine maintenance (RV Owner) could save a life. We sent an email to Forest River yesterday describing the problem and requesting they cover the cost of repair. Nobody has inspected our camper except for us because we just discovered the issue last weekend during routine camper maintenance.Read more

When I was able to get out and take a look the closed sunroof had shattered outward - it reminded me of a volcano pattern. Left my hazards on, got unto local roads and drove car to dealer - Ray Catena Lexus of White Plains, where we purchased the automobile. Service told me something must have hit me at the right angle. They could find no debris besides broken glass in the sunroof compartment. I was shaken and went through the process of figuring out a loaner and cost to repair. Upon my return home I spoke to my husband and we realized it just didn't make sense. We started doing research and discovered that the Toyota corporation may well be aware of these incidents, they've been happening to different models of Lexus cars/SUVs for years - different models all over the country. In California there is currently a class action suit against the corporation. I'm thankful I was driving and not my daughter and that I had the presence of mind not to lose control of the car or open the soft inside cover of the sunroof. This needs to be investigated, Toyota makes many different model cars, trucks, SUVs and this is unacceptable. My one regret is that I didn't have the presence of mind to take a photo.Read more
