I purchased a 7x16’ trailer with two 5200# axles in Feb 2019 (VIN # [XXX]). I have been the only user of the trailer (business use) and I do not abuse equipment I own. I have been experiencing frame failure, and noticed it for the first time around March 10, 2022. I first noticed that they rear back axle hangers were ripped off from the frame (leaving a hole in the frame where they had been w
... elded on). I have since noticed multiple other locations where the frame has deteriorated. I notified Freedom on March 17, 2022. They initially engaged in some discussion but have since ignored me for weeks/months. They said it was likely user error and that I likely backed into something at a high speed and that caused the hangers to rip off of the frame. After my further review, Freedom’s internal standards indicate that a trailer with two 5200# axles needs a MINIMUM of 6” tube frame. Mine is a 4” tube frame. According to their standards, 4” tube frames are used for a maximum of two 3500# axles (i.e., 50% less weight capacity). I have tried to point this out to them and they have continued to ignore me. Voicemails are regularly full or inoperable. I called every day or so to speak with the “warranty” department and I’m told that they will call me back that day (but they never do), or that they have turnover issues, or that they have phone issues and that I should email them (which I have also done repeatedly). I ask to speak to someone else besides warranty, and I’m told that warranty is the only department they will connect me with. After sending complaints to NATM and BBB, they reached out to me saying that the “claim” was denied. They did not respond the BBB complaint and it was closed “without response”. Additionally, I purchased a 7x16’ trailer from them with two 7000# axles in Dec 2021 (VIN # [XXX]). It has a 6" frame and their standards indicate it should have a 8" frame. Now I have 2 trailers that cannot be used correctly. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 URead more

Driver's door handle does not function. When car is unlocked, the door handle pops out BUT the door will not open. I had this same issue two years ago with the front passenger door handle and see that this is a recall item on my model (S) for vehicles starting in year 2016. Don't know why the 2014 sedan is not included in this recall, as it should be. It is a safety concern.

While performing maintenance on the car, I found that the left (drivers) rear mounting bracket which is a part of the frame/body, and hold the right rear trailing arm - holding the rear axle was severely rusted and cracking apart from corrosion. The right (passenger) bracket showed no rust damage. This problem has been reported by others, and Canada has found the same issues and issued a recall
... for this car/vin group. Although this car is 15 years old, this thick 3/8" heavy metal bracket should not have disintegrated like this even with the salt used on the highways, and is shown with absolutely no issue with the right (passenger side)bracket. Upon taking it to the dealer, there was nothing they could do, nor could they get the "fix" being used in Canada or any other information as to how they are correcting this problem. Suggestion is to buy a new car or take it to a body shop and see if they could fabricate a repair. Honda dealer did not seem to be too concerned about this rust, so I will have to go elsewhere to have it evaluated. From what I have found here on the internet, this is a serious problem, and when it breaks as it has for others, you loose control of the car because the axle is now only attached to one side of the car. If there is a fix for this, (as they have one in Canada) they should be compelled to provide it. This isn't a who pays for the repair. It's been known for some time now, and they should have already addressed this. But to withhold the safety fix isn't acceptable.Read more

The car has a power assisted hatchback. When it fails to latch, the power is completely drained from the car, and there is zero indication of this happening, until the next day when an attempt is made to start the car. We've been stranded twice in our car and twice on the road. It's all due to the robotics not getting a signal to stop trying to keep it open. We notified the dealer twice by April
... of 2021. The second time they replaced the battery and we failed to convince them that this was a symptom, not the cause per many TSBs. In March of 2022 we were traveling and the hatch failed to latch. It would beep all the time. We took it to another dealer in Baton Rouge, who ordered a latch back in Atlanta. We drove it hundreds of mails beeping. The electrical system failed the next morning - again. We got the car started, made it back to Atlanta, and had the latch replaced by a 3rd dealer. Our original dealer says we are not eligible for the replacement hardware/software fix in the robotics (as distinct from the latch) to stop parasitic draining unlike identical cars made in this year. We do not trust this car until it's fixed.Read more

Unspecific event. I hope this report, without my having an incident myself is looked into enough to apply a standard across all manufacturers to make sure the public aren’t so unknowingly put at risk. All because of an ill thought through design. My vehicle has no easy access to exit rear seats if there is any kind of electrical failure. My rear passengers will not be able to exit the vehicle.
... Manual override of electronic door controls are hidden beneath door panels and trims. With no mechanical connection on the outer handle, even if the driver uses the front manual release, they cannot rescue rear passengers. The outside door handles are electronic ONLY. Imagine a fire like Vancouver happening, when a child is in a car seat or has less mobile passengers like seniors. Neither can be expected to climb to the front or out a side window to reach safety. No means to unlock doors or open doors makes this vehicle unsafe to carry passengers in the back, nevermind versions of my vehicle that have 7 seats and a third row, which will most certainly be carrying kids due to the available room. . This design flaw exists in Tesla Model 3’s also. I’m not sure of other vehicles or brands. Older vehicles with mechanical door controls still allow a door to be opened from outside if on fire or suffering an electrical problem. These back seats aren’t safe and for Model Y as an suv marketed to families, it’s only a matter of time til tragedy occurs.Read more

Started noticing strange chassis behavior when braking. Braking hard would result in car leaning left, then leaning right when foot taken off the brake. Car appeared to "sway" on braking. Hard to control direction of vehicle on braking. Consulted local mechanic who put the car up on a lift. Discovered rotten rear subframe on left side. No substantial rust or rot on any other structural components.
... Looked into this issue online; no recall discovered. Found multiple instances of this rear subframe rot occurring to other owners of similar-year C300s who were then also quoted thousands of dollars in repairs. Car is not safe to drive until the subframe is replaced. The wrong pothole could cause the rotten rear subframe to snap and potentially cause more damage to the vehicle and injury to the driver and others. No warning lamps or other system messages to warn of this problem. A safety inspection performed at an authorized Mercedes-Benz service center on February 22, 2021 found no issues with the vehicle.Read more

I brought my car into the dealer to have my annual state required inspection, and was told by the dealer that the rear subframe had severe rot and corrosion, to an extent that they would not allow the car to pass inspection as it was hazardous to drive, and if the subframe cracked, for instance, by driving over a bump or pothole, I would endanger myself, passengers, and other cars on the road. I
... was stunned to find out that my Mercedes, a premium automobile, by a marquee manufacturer, which has a reputation for engineering/manufacturing excellence and had such significant corrosion. I was equally stunned because I have consistently maintained my car and done all the recommended maintenance. I asked the dealer service manager to hoist the car on a lift so I could inspect and verify the corrosion on the subframe. While I saw the significant corrosion on the subframe, all other parts of the underside of the car were in excellent shape and drive-able condition. This leads me to believe that there is a design/manufacturing flaw in the subframe. I researched this issue online and discovered that this exact Mercedes subframe has been recalled in other countries, but not in the U.S. It is a known and dangerous defect, Mercedes clearly knows it's a dangerous defect, and yet they have not recalled it. This has put me, my family, passengers and potentially other drivers at risk of serious harm and injury had the subframe broke while being driven. Additionally, it unfairly shifts the burden of repair onto the consumer rather than Mercedes for fixing a known and dangerous defect. Does a tragedy need to occur before this defective part is recalled? I hope not.Read more

In April 2022, the sunroof on our 2020 Highlander Hybrid spontaneously exploded (without impact) while driving on the freeway. It was like a loud shotgun went off in the cab of our SUV. We were showered with glass and small cut to my wife's hand. Thankfully there was no traffic otherwise it could have easily caused an accident, putting us and others at risk. The local Toyota Dealership (where
... we purchased the car from in 2020) took photos (half the glass broke out, the remaining glass had glass shards pointed upwards like a volcano). The Service representative originally advised us that Toyota would likely pay to replace the sunroof and pay for our rental car (as we had just begun a 2-week trip), but then later refused, stating that the sunroof must have had a chip in it or was impacted (which were absolutely false claims). They stated that I must submit it to my insurance who they billed for $2,410 (sunroof assembly remove & replace, new glass, clean-up detail glass shards, supplies/materials, labor), and $500 of which I would have to pay for a deductible. After many difficult emails and telephone conversations, Toyota Corporate finally agreed to pay my $500 deductible but then later handed me a Goodwill Settlement Agreement to sign, stating the matter is resolved and I would take no further action. I refused to sign it, because I had a $1,900 Car Rental bill (less $450 from my insurance), that Toyota refused to pay. There were no warning messages or symptoms. It is a manufacturing defect that Toyota refuses to acknowledge so that customers and their insurance companies get stuck with all of the bills.Read more

The panoramic sunroof shade blind has become detached due to failing adhesive. The consequence of this failure renders the vehicle difficult to drive and impacts safety of occupants and non occupants. To illustrate this issue, it is easier to quote the incident. On driving the vehicle the sunroof shade became unattached from its rail (right side). A natural thing to do is attempt to open the shade
... and close again in the hope that it re-attaches itself. This only made the situation worse. The loose shade impedes the drivers view out the right side of the vehicle. Driving the vehicle, it is crucial that this view should be clear and unobstructed (especially when lane changing on a freeway!). A corollary to the above issue is that the sagging loose blind is a distraction to the driver of the vehicle. The drivers attention needs to be 100% dedicated to the operation of the vehicle and the safety of others. This flapping distraction reduces this significantly.Read more
