I own a 2010 Toyota 4Runner VIN # [XXX]. I bought the vehicle late last year and found that the vehicle paint was peeling. I took my 4Runner to the one and only dealer here in Laredo, Texas. They told me to take it to their company body shop. The body shop looked at my 4Runner, took pictures and submitted everything to Toyota. This was late November or early December 2021. I called the body shop
... back in January. The body shop manager told me it had been approved to paint all the metal panels on the truck, but that I would have to wait until May of 2022. In May of 2022 I physically went back to ask the body shop manager about the truck getting painted. He said that it would not be painted until August, but that if I did not want to wait I could “take it somewhere else”. After waiting all of this time I did not want to start all over again somewhere else, so I told him that I would leave it there. Sometime in late June or early July 2022 I physically went to check with the to see if my truck could be painted, and the body shop manager told me that he did not know when but I was the "fourth one in line". I did not want to lose all my “wait time” and have to start all over again. I am very concerned that my 2010 4Runner will not get the paint job that Toyota already knows it needs before the expiration date of December 11, 2022. I have reached out to Toyota Brand Engagement Center and have spoken to them to exhaustion about the fact that it appears that my truck will not get painted (case# [XXX]). Toyota refuses to provide me with documentation that the claim for paint was submitted and approved (documentation I can use to protect myself should the expiration date come and go without getting painted). Toyota also refuses to extend the expiration date of the paint program to allow for paint job approvals that have not been completed. I have tried to make a claim on my own insurance which was subsequently denied. They said to contact Toyota. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5Read more

There is a crack down the middle section of the liftgate for quite some time. The liftgate has been unlocking and opening automatically by itself. The sliding doors of the Van do not stay closed. We could be driving down the road when they open and the chime starts going off. We find this is commonly associated with the scenerios right after the auto-close mechanism closes the door. (This is another issue as it does not reliably close the door.) To resolve the door suddenly opening situation, we have to stop, put the vehicle in park, and u
... sually end up having to have the driver or front passenger get out of the car, wait for the auto-close system to get close to closing and then slam the back end of the door into place to get it to hold. We did try to take it to the Kia Dealership in Ogden Utah but the service manager there said he could not reliably replicate it so could not fix it. Apparently slamming the door is considered a viable alternative to the auto-close mechanism. We were told it is not a defect and that these things happen. It should be noted for other drivers, that the auto-close mechanism does appear to be closed. The door sensor does not chime to give warning that it is not seated all the way. Instead, as mentioned, we will be driving down the road when the door will rattle and open a little ways and the chime immediately starts going off. You will slow down and it the chime will stop, but once you pull over and take a look you will see the back end of the door is open a centimeter or so. Further to this point, if you dont immediately pull over, the door can pop open the rest of the way. What is most concerning is that it can happen anytime. I ahve not found any logical rhyme or reason for the issue. However I have had kids sitting near the door when the door opened on me. Luckily the seatbelts kept them in the car even though we were caught off-guard by the suddeness of the issue.Read more

In April 2022, my dad purchased a brand new Honda CRV 2022 hybrid touring edition. This car was deemed as one of the safest cars on the market and was his main intent while buying it. A couple of weeks ago this car was the prime suspect of a fire that impacted both the car and our house. Let me break down exactly how this occurred and where the blame should fall on this situation. When I was slowl
... y backing out of my garage, I noticed that my car was not straight and that I needed to turn my wheel in order to straighten it out. When doing so, 3/4 of my car made it out of the garage, even the side mirrors. However, the area on the top left on my wheel scratched the side of my garage. When this occurred, I did not think much of it since scratching cars is not that uncommon, especially when reversing. The worst that is expected to happen is chipping of the paint and a minor dent. But when I got out of the car to access the situation I noticed that smoke started releasing out of the area of the impact. By the time I called my dad, a little fire was also present at the area of the impact. He advised me to go inside the house and use water or other resources in order to try putting out the fire myself. So I went inside and by the time I got back, the fire had greatly increased in size. This all happened in a matter of 2 minutes! I quickly called 911 and 2 police cars came as soon as possible. The officers tried to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher but there was no luck. The flames have already started making its way up the side of the garage and engulfing some of the sidings. After a while, the fire department put out the fire. How can a scratch of 2-inch depth, 4-inch width, and 6-inch height cause immense damage to a car and a house! Honda needs to consider this when reviewing the architectural design of its battery position. This is a serious safety flaw that could jeopardize many lives. I was grateful that the fire did not impact me but I fear for others.Read more

So the part that is a malfunction is the rear doors weren’t made with any child lock and of course one of my kids opened the door while i was driving on the highway.I have a 3 and 5 year old and it scared me so bad I had to hurry and pull the hummer over and park and just held my son. Then they later proceeded to tell me I should just sell my vehicle. I was so upset because if one of my kids would have fallen out and something happened I would do everything in my power to make sure they were held accountable and file a lawsuit against them.
