I had driven the car for about 80 miles on a mix of urban expressway, parkway, and city streets, when inexplicably the "frunk lid" (or hood) released itself from the fully closed position to the "ajar" position. That is the position that the lid would assume if you pulled the inside release. To open fully, one must manually release the "safety catch," after which it would open fully. As soon as t
... he lid moved from fully closed to slightly open, a warning symbol appeared on the dashboard accompanied by a frenzied warning chime. I was in traffic and stopped as soon as it was safe to do so, about a quarter mile or possibly a half mile ahead. During this time the vehicle seemed sluggish. Just before the stop, my passenger pointed out that the relatively small and discreet "Parking Brake" warning was also illuminated. Right after I stopped, I shut the lid as I normally would, and it stayed shut. Then my attention was drawn to the rear of the car, where light smoke was emanating from the wheels and a "burning rubber" odor was prominent. The brakes had become very hot from my short drive seeking a safe place to stop. I believe it is unsafe to have a vehicle apply the parking brake on its own with no way to release the parking brake without stopping. I believe that if the vehicle had applied the parking brake on its own at speed on an ice- or snow-covered road, or possibly even on a wet road, the rear tires would have locked up, causing the vehicle to enter an uncontrollable spin. I believe that if the vehicle had applied the parking brake on its own on a long downhill mountainous road without a nearby safe stopping location, the extreme heat generated could cause serious damage to the vehicle. The vehicle is scheduled to be inspected by a dealer tomorrow. At the moment it seems to operate normally, but note that itis an electric vehicle, and almost all of the braking activity is performed by regenerative braking and not using mechanical brakes.Read more

The dashboard has pulled away from the windshield and is rippling. If it continues it will obstruct my view. I think it would affect the airbags as well. I've seen another 640 with this same problem at the store. I am available for inspection, I also attached BMWs invoice to show it was diagnosed. No warning lamps. I also use the garage and a window shade if not in garage.

There is an open recall for 3 months whereby there is a possibility that wheels are inappropriately specified and not able to carry body weight. My van is constantly have trouble with tires/wheels breaking, ripping within no time. I feel like I’m buying new tires every 1-1.5 years. It is a constant state of low tire pressure warnings followed by replacing tires. In May 2022, I had an incid

I replaced all 4 tires with a slighter higher load tire because I was so scared by the incident. Less than 3 months later, one of those tires was torn on the interior. Replaced again. Today I am driving and again one of the new tires suddenly indicates dropped pressure to 34 compared to others at 41. I feel that the rapidly deterioration of tires is due improperly indicated weight load.Read more

The rear subframe of the car (MB E350, 2015 with 81,000 miles) is completely rusted/corroded through creating an unsafe situation where the car pulled left on braking with resultant loss of control of the vehicle as it spun out. The brake lines are adjacent and are also currently being inspected by MB Open Road Service [XXX] in Bridgewater, NJ. It is a miracle we (my three grandchildren, my husb
... and, and/or I) were not involved in a tragic accident. This manufacturing component failure has been widely reported in the USA and worldwide for years with recalls in other countries, but not yet in the USA. I also reported this by phone to MBUSA, but have yet to receive any information or confirmation of the issue in writing. As you can see from the photo (courtesy of Denson's Auto Repair who has seen this issue before), the subframe is completely corroded through. There were no warning lights and I get my vehicle serviced at the dealer every year. The vehicle was thoroughly inspected in January of 2022 for an A type service and no mention was made to me at that time about this dangerous corrosion. This is a material failure and not simply a result of harsh NJ winters with salted roads. I have never seen subframe corrosion failure in any of my cars with far more years and miles on them. Driver-side rear door fails to open from the inside or the outside. Vehicle's "Falcon Wing" doors would malfunction when exposed to direct sunlight where door panels would become hot. Doors would not open remotely due to the sensor believing an object was blocking the door, the message on screen would read "Obstacle detected" when no object was present. Occupants would manually have to hold down the open button on screen or the physical button in order to open the
... door. Which would open very slowly or stop oppening halfway due to a phantom object being detected. This would pose a risk for rear occupants unable to exit the vehicle in a timely manner in case of an emergency. The vehicle was taken into service 8 different times to address the issue. Service center claims they could not recreate the problem but found the tripod mounts for the infrared door sensor to be misaligned. Each time a temporary fix was performed and the problem would reappear not long after. Contact sent a certified mail letter to the manufacturer demanding a resolution or compensation for the issue. No response was ever received from the manufacturer. A 9th visit to the Tesla service center for the same issue netted a result where new tripod mounts that hold the infrared door sensor were installed. Since this repair, the Falcon wing doors operate normally most of the time but will still occasionally malfunction if the doors are exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time.Read more
