After a weekend of incessant rain, while driving a short distance (10 minutes) , this low-mileage, well-maintained 8 year old SUV suddenly stalled, Engine appeared to have powered down and the yellow Engine light came up and pressing gas pedal didn't do anything. I was fortunately able to press the Power button once frantically and re-start it once more and pull over to the side but the car refuse
... d to power on thereafter. After investigations by the shops, it appears there was water leaking "through" the body of the vehicle and into the area below the interior of the car, short circuiting Fuel Driver and stalling the car (which they subsequently repaired after draining the water and replacing/re-programming the fuel pump driver) before handing it off for the leak identification work. The car was subsequently taken to a specialist shop to figure out the leak, and they are unable to identify any reasonable source of the water leak and insurance is so far claiming this is "wear and tear". In the course of the testing, the *same* issue happened again and the car stalled while driven by the shop personnel and they could hear the sound of water inside the cabin all the way up to the front. They are unable to identify the source(s) of the leak and at this point, the car has been unusable for over 4 weeks as Insurance continues to push back and the shop can't do the additional work to identify the source in the body without insurance approval. I made attempts to contact the manufacturer but their only available contact is their Customer Support (no email/chat option) who refused to discuss this as it didn't pertain to them directly and re-directed me to talk to my own insurance company. I even reached out via Twitter but got no response. This expensive luxury SUV is not just unreliable at this point but *dangerous* where there are mysterious water leaks under natural conditions like rain leading to car stalling while in motion.Read more

My car has 85,000 miles on it and the Rear Trailing Arm Frame on the drivers side has rusted from the inside out. Random "phantom braking" while using autopilot or cruise control. Causes the car to slam on brakes and has lost control once almost causing me to go off the road. Also Tesla Repair center in Chicago replaced my front bumper with a discolored front bumper that had the same issue o

When I brought up the issue to Tesla they said that was a manufacturing process issue due to the molding process of the bumpers and that is how they all are. If that is the case why change the bumper? Could have just told me that's how all the cars are and saved a lot of my time. Also, have had many repairs from Tesla that don't seem to end. Paint is peeling and flaking off rapidly on my Kia. I had rocks kicked back on my vehicle while driving causing the paint to crack down to the 2nd layer of primer. Areas of the console, mainly the frame around the gps/media display, as well as the interior doors are highly reflective. At certain times of the day, the sun reflects off them and causes extreme visibility problems. I actually had to pull off the road one day because I got a bright light in the eyes that produced an effect similar to a camera flash, and I was unable to see. I really scared me, as
... I almost ran off the road when it happened. During daytime driving, I'm often driving with one hand trying to shelter my eyes, and the other on the steering wheel, as even when wearing sunglasses, the reflection is blinding. Those surfaces, because of the angle, and the visibility to the driver (and passengers) should be more of a muted, or textured surface to prevent this danger. Although it may sound trivial, to me it is a true safety concern.Read more

First my car was having issues charginging at the charge stations. Then as soon as that issue occurred, I had to replace the car battery. When he started accusing me of having a car accident that caused me to be even more concerned. He told me that the Tesla service center on 1100 Colorado Ave, Santa Monica, Ca. would find out if I did have an accident by running a diagnostics. When I had my car towed to the Tesla service center, their main concern was a hole in my tire and their professional opinion was to just patch up the tire and not replace the damaged product. Crystal, a representative from the Service center said that she would address the main concern of the leakage which she never did. She told me that my car was ready for pickup. I was again confused because she never addressed my main concern. Then I asked what I was paying for and she simply said that it was on my estimate and that it’s a patch for my tire. She was very adamant about me picking up my car before the Service Center closed at 5:30 but told me at the last minute to do so. She did not explain the details of the leakage until I inquired about it. I did not receive the diagnostics that were promised to me by your Tesla dispatcher. Her explanation to my main concern was, “ No leak was detected under the car so just recommend monitoring and definitely taking a pic when it happens. If the leak is by my left front tire, it’s more likely to be my AC and can be normal.” That did not make me feel like Tesla’s Supplier Code of Conduct was being followed. If the rear door (both passenger and driver side) is closed in an aggressive way (such as a child closing a door as hard as they can) the plastic paneling on the door can be "dislodged" sliding down and jamming with the metal door frame making the door unable to open from either the inside or outside. In the event of an emergency, the door would not be able to be opened leaving a child or passenge
... r trapped in the vehicle. A jolt from a low speed crash (not directly on the door) could cause the door plastic to dislodge causing the door to jam leaving children or passengers in the back unable to exit the vehicle safety. The issues has been reproduced only by myself, that I am aware of; (first happened on drive side and then reproduced on passenger side) and could most likely be repeated on similar models preforming repeated aggressive door closes. This issues was brought to a certified Ford dealer and they made notes in the repair that the plastic was dislodged wedging with the metal door frame. The only warning signs were screws falling off the door panels and the plastic separating from the door through normal use and driving.Read more
