December 30, 2022 To: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) (https://www.nhtsa.gov/) From: Robert Volck 7719 Pine Street, Manassas Va. 20111 Email:
[email protected] I am writing to you to report a safety issue with my 2023 NISSAN KICKS. What occurs is the driver side door will not function properly when ambient air temperature is 25 degrees or below. When this first occu
... rred, I reported the issue to the Priority Nissan dealership of Chantilly, Virginia. I had to climb over the center console in order to drive the car to the dealership and into their service bay (that was heated). The service manager tried to open the driver side door to let me out but the door would not unlock. Within two hours the service manager called and informed me the driver side door opens and works fine. When I arrived at the Priority Nissan dealership, I spoke to a sales manager and shared what had happened and he said it happened to him as well. On December 30, 2022, I called NISSAN service to report what I have been experiencing since December 24, 2022, when I brought my car in for the door not unlocking, as of yet the service manager has not returned my call. The NISSAN KICKs is a new car and if it had caught fire the safety issue is obvious. Would I have had enough time to escape from a burning car fire or for some other reason. God forbid if I had been involved in a car accident and the car caught fire and I needed to be pulled from the NISSAN KICKS to be saved. Sorry apologies just don’t get it. I hope you take my letter to the NHTS as a serious safety concern. thank you for listening to my concern. Sincerely, Robert Volck CC: Sam Hamdam [email protected] Managing Owner of Priority Nissan of Chantilly Va. The side pillars on both the driver side and front passenger side became loose. There was a definite rattle sound inside the car. Thankfully I noticed it before they flew off and hit another person/car on the highway. This could have led to multiple injuries. When I brought the car back to the dealership they mentioned that this has happened to other cars. Perhaps there needs to be a recall.
... This only compounds the situation I had in April of 2022. While driving on a highway I suddenly had a rattle in the front window. I discovered that the moulding had rotted and the window was separating. When replaced by the dealership, they told me that they have dealt with this problem numerous times. The driver's side rear door locks freeze, and once the door is opened it will not stay closed/latched. I have a video of the door not latching shut, and bouncing back open when attempting to close it. This is the same issue as outlined in Customer Satisfaction Program 18N03; however, the dealer and Ford Corporate advised my VIN is not included on the recall for this issue. When the door lock is
... frozen and the door will not shut, the automatic running board on the driver's side will not close and the light on the bottom of the driver's mirror and inside the vehicle stays on. If you hold the door shut with your hand or put a ratchet strap on it to hold it in place, the running board closes and the lights go off. This is unsafe for passengers of the rear of the vehicle as the door will not latch when frozen. This issue has been witnessed by the local dealership, but they tell me the VIN is not on the recall list for this issue. Attached pictures show the door closed but running board out and mirror side light on, holding door shut and running board in and side light off, and door ajar when trying to close it and it not latching.Read more

On July 30, 2022 I took my car to Greenway Kia East Orlando due to two traction warning lights that were on. I decided to call my warranty company and after back and forth they said they would not approve what Kia wanted to do b
... ecause they needed to fix the initial issue which I believe to be the same. The service manager from Kia, Gina Carpio then told me there was nothing else they could do, so I asked them on December 14th to put my car back together the way that on dropped it off on July 30th so that I can pick it up and take somewhere else. A couple of months prior to this I asked them to do the same, since they couldn’t figure out what was wrong and their response at the time was that they couldn’t release the car to me because it was not safe to drive. Fast forward to December 16, 2022 when I picked up the car after almost five months I noticed that nothing on the console was working, so no ac, heat, defrost, radio, backup camera etc. I also noticed that the drivers side door would not open with the key fob or my hand and it looks like someone try to pry it open. When I told all of this to the service manager, Gina Carpio she didn’t know why anything wasn’t working so she called a tech and also told me she would order the part of my door that was prayed in, even though that isn’t the only issue with the door. So almost five months later I have a car that is in worse condition. I can’t see when it rains or is cold outside and I have to go in through the passenger side to unlock the drivers side door so I can get in.Read more

On my 2010 Honda CRV, the rear frame stiffener became excessively corroded over time which resulted in frame stiffener perforation . I called my auto service provider to come and examine the problem which he confirmed that the rear trailing ar

The body shop confirmed that the rear trailing arm was separated from the body, that the right and left trailing arms, the right and left rail assembly, and the left axle assembly would need to be replaced. I learned that there was a safety recall issued by Honda Canada for Rear Frame Stiffener Corrosion for 2007-2011 Honda CRV's. I contacted American Honda to report the issue and was told since there was no recall from them for my vehicle that there would be no reimbursement from them to fix my 2010 CRV. The same problem for the same vehicle warrants a safety recall from Honda Canada but not from American Honda? Makes no sense. My Honda case # is 13433028. On December 5, 2022, I was driving on the 134W fwy around 6:40 am. I was driving around 60 mph in the fast lane when all of a sudden my hood popped open. I was unable to see in front of my car as the hood was completely up and blocking my windshield. I slowed down and crouched down to see in the sliver of space between the windshield and the top (now located at the bottom due to it being open) o

There was no left shoulder so my only recourse was to make my way to an exit as the section of the fwy I was on was around a merge of another fwy onto the one that I was currently on and there was no safe place to pull my car over to close the hood and unblock my view. Since it was early in the morning, the traffic was light but if there had been more traffic, then I would have slammed into a car in front of me and or someone would have slammed into me as I slowed down due to the surprise of the hood popping open, unexpectedly, and blocking my view. I called my insurance and sent video and pictures and they said to take it to the dealership. They also stated that because of a recall, the dealer should be fixing this hood latch issue. There was no warning to the hood latch failure as I've been driving this car for 8 years and this just happened unexpectedly. The local dealership of this car manufacturer said they oiled and cleaned the latch when we took it in to fix, as per our insurance's advice, but this car is not safe to drive as we are unsure when and if the hood will pop open again.
