Windshield Trim: My windshield trim began stripping off of my windshield as I was traveling on highway speeds on I-10 back in August 2022. I managed to "glue" the trim back into place until getting to the dealership. They informed me that it would be cheaper to replace the whole windshield since I had existing chips and a crack (through my insurance) than it would be to replace the trim. There
... fore, I filed a claim through my insurance and paid my $500 deductible to have the windshield and trim replaced. Check Engine Light: Throughout the life of my vehicle, I have had multiple episodes of Check Engine Light errors and "running lean codes." More recently in October 2022 at 102,000 miles, I experienced check engine errors with running lean codes. After $8k and 4 separate trips to the Ford Dealership from October 2022 to January 2023 to "fix" the problem by overhauling my engine and replacing sensors etc, the check engine light is gone (for now). There is obviously a widespread problem with Ford Explorers and their check engine lights. Ford Consumer Affairs will not provide financial support since they indicated that even though my vehicle is less than 150,000 miles, it is over their 7 year mark (mine just turned 8 years old). I have copies of all receipts and are available upon request. Rear Backup Camera: My camera has been glitching in and out (while in reverse) for the last year and is a safety concern.Read more

In October of 2018 while driving on the Interstate, I heard a noise in the area of the passenger windshield. I slowed down as I looked at the windshield and the pillar trim came loose and flew off the car. Fortunately, there was no one behind me and it went into the ditch at the side of the highway. I pulled off as soon as I could and checked the driver side trim, it seemed to be loose as well
... . I was able to secure it and went to my local dealership where they ordered replacement parts. The repair was $506.54. The same thing happened in December of 2021. So now I have paid twice to have this repair made which, in my opinion, should be a recall. I believe a consumer has a reasonable expectation that parts should remain on the vehicle. Yes, anyone could be hit and harmed by flying car parts. The problem was inspected and repaired by the Don Vance Ford Dealership (both times). There was no warning other that a rattling noise as the pieces came loose.Read more

While driving on the highway, the windshield driver's side upper pillar molding detached and flew off hitting the side of the rear of my vehicle. I was unaware of what had happened in the moment but was just knew there was a loud bang as if some type of debris hit my vehicle. I later noticed the lower molding had been damaged as well but was still attached to the vehicle. My safety was at risk

A call to the dealer confirmed there were issues with the trim piece but it was not under warranty and no recalls had been issued at the time. It was not physically inspected by anyone at the time. Due to cost, I ordered and installed a replacement upper trim piece but the lower trim remains damaged. No warnings or symptoms were present. While traveling at highway speeds, the windshield trim panel on the passenger side of my Explorer, suddenly flew off my car, and caused the car behind me to swerve side to side. Unfortunately, traffic was heavy and I wasn't able to

I have priced out the repair, and I understand the should be done by the dealer, or a glass shop, as it's now suggested the trim pieces be applied with some form of adhesive, in addition to the clips which normally hold it in place. My explorer has only 140,000 miles on it, and it's in excellent condition inside and out. I believe both trim pieces should be replaced by the dealer, performing the additional necessary steps to insure the trim pieces are bonded into place properly.Read more

The sunroof of my 2019 Toyota Avalon is defective. It is available for inspection upon request. My safety, as well as the safety of my passengers, has been put at risk. ... g on 1/3/2023. Sunroof tray was found to have a buildup of organic detritus, causing drains of sunroof tray to be clogged and allowing rainwater to spill over into interior. Sheehy technician cleared the sunroof tray and drains of organic material. Drains were now flowing properly. Technician claimed that sunroof would not have to be drained for at least two years. There was standing water and a heavy mildew smell in the car. Sheehy refused to clean/drain carpet of water. I took it to a detailer and had the detailer vacuum and clean the carpet. Less than a month later, I started experiencing the same issues -- wet carpeting on the floorboard. I took my vehicle to Sheehy Toyota of Fredericksburg on 2/7/2023. Technician told me that the driver side of the sunroof was clogged. Technician claimed that he fixed the clogged drain of the sunroof. Technician suggested that my sunroof got clogged because I have only driven my car 140 miles this month. Not a rational explanation. He recommended that I replace the carpet due to mold concerns. Why would I replace the carpet if there is a strong possibility of having wet carpet every few weeks? Technician insists that wet floor is not coming from any source other than the sunroof. I suspect that my sunroof is defective. I should not have to worry about wet carpet in my car everyday that we experience rainshowers. Sheehy Toyota insists that nothing is wrong with the structural integrity of the sunroof and that external factors are to blame.Read more
