While attempting to fuel the vehicle, thinking the hood latch was the fuel door release, the hood latch was pulled (twice). After completing fueling we re-entered the roadway and at about 45 mph, the hood flew up and backwards over the windscreen. We were able to stop the vehicle and close the hood without further incident although there is damage to body panels and the windscreen. Although an op
... erator error was made by confusing the hood latch with the fuel door release, it seems like a poor and dangerous design to be able to completely unlatch the hood (no manual safety under the hood as is customary) allowing it to fly up while underway. Upon further investigation, we determined that the newest generation of these vehicles simply require two pulls of the hood latch to completely release it. The more typical method of one pull of the latch followed by manual release of the safety by reaching under the hood has been abandoned in this design.Read more

This is a 2017 Santa Fe Sport with pearl white paint. The paint has peeled in 5 different spots on the car. I have taken it in 2 different times to have it repainted. It was told many times by the service people that this is a known issue to Hyundai but that corporate wouldn't do anything about it. The first time, the dealership completely covered the costs of the paint job in good faith since it
... was out of warranty. The second time, I was required to pay 5% of the paint job. End of February 2023, I received a letter from Hyundai corporate acknowledging an issue with the paint. They extended my warranty coverage 6 years from the date of purchase...so I had 2 months (until April 2023) of extra coverage. Does not seem like too much of an "extended warranty". This is a known issue yet it is barely being taken care of by Hyundai. They need to stand behind their products. I should also state that currently, I have 3 more spots where the paint is peeling and I need to take it in...again...for the third time.Read more

When driving the vehicle, I can smell gas fumes which caused nausea. I didn’t know it was worse in the back of the cabin where my children sit until I sat back there for a 3 hour trip. The smell was stronger there which led to headache, nausea and fatigue. It doesn’t seem to come from the vent, it seems from the entire body of the vehicle. This puts my children’s health at risk. And all of o
... ur lives because if we travel far enough breathing this in, it can lead to exhaustion which can cause a crash and put others’ safety at risk. I’m surprised to see there is no recall, yet, it’s been reported that there have been 1.5 million complaints. We are having the issue fixed next Wednesday, but we will be without a car (ford is not providing a loan vehicle) and the bill is extremely expensive. This is clearly something wrong with the way the vehicle was made and is not fair as consumers that we not only have to breathe this in, but pay for the repair that has clearly been an issue for a majority of police vehicles out of 1.5 million complaints. The passenger read doors lock up and become unoperable. So the doors cannot be opened from the outside or the inside. This creates a massive potentially tragic situation. Hyundai did not issue a recall, but the indicated that they would fix it under "extended" warranty but when i brought it in (the door was frozen shut) they said this was something else and proceeded to charge me about $500 for the repair; $250 for the part and the same for the labor. There are multiple safety recalls for this vehicle that I have only had for 1 month. I began the new lease with this vehicle beginning of March and the vehicle has been back to the dealership 4 times already. Issue #1: The middle part of the steering wheel where the air bag is located came completely off the steering. It was dangling almost causing my boyfriend and I to get t-boned. Since the mi

I was also very lucky that the airbag alone did not deploy in my lap. The car is currently at the dealership getting "fixed" I truly believe that this specific car has multiple recalls. There was no warning at all just came right off. Issue #2: Underneath the car the seam sealer was faulty and the dealership has to weld the underneath of the car back together. There was also no warning to this I could hear the pieces clinking together underneath the car. Issue #3: The gas pedal vibrates when you hit speeds 40 mph and above to the point where my foot goes numb. This puts my ability to drive the car at risk especially if my foot goes numb from driving my car. The vehicle is back at the dealership to get this issue fixed for the second time. The contact provided the TSB document to the dealer, who then repaired the vehicle based on the TSB instructions. The dealer discovered that the body sealing along the fire wall, below the driver's side windshield and behind the fender liners was not sealed, allowing water to leak onto the driver's side floorboard. The dealer resealed the body seal; however, upon picking up the vehicle from the dealer's parking lot, the contact noticed that the failure had reoccurred. The dealer removed the driver's seat and carpet and verified that there was no other potential water leak source. The dealer then reinstalled the seat and carpet after they had dried; however, the failure persisted. The dealer then informed the contact that they could not repair the vehicle as they did not have a master technician. The vehicle was taken back to the residence. The vehicle was not repaired. In June 2022 the driver's side sliding door became stuck in the locked position. It was difficult to get my young children in/out of the vehicle safely. I took the van to the dealership where I was charged over $900 to have the actuator replaced (See attached). From doing research online, I see that there is a known issue with this specific part for vehicles produced in 2015-2017 and an extend

D-21-15 see attached) Unfortunately, my vehicle was produced in November 2017 and the extended warranty only covers vehicles up to January 2017.
