This appears to be a known problem in these but my vehicle was built AFTER the period Chrysler acknowledged a problem for. My van was built in June 2017 whereas the settlement states vehicles built until January of 2017. I paid $400 to have the dealer replace the lock actuator in the passenger sliding door in July 2021. I have just contacted Chrysler about this and am awaiting a response. But a) I should not have paid for the first repair and b) I shouldn't have to for the second considering this is a known issue. I use this vehicle for my family and having doors that don't lock or unlock is a HUGE concern for me.Read more

While just entering the freeway my hood flew open at approximately 65-70 mph, hit and broke the windshield, causing me to run off the road. The vehicle exhibited no prior indications that the hood could fly up. The vehicle was taken to a Hyundai dealership and we were told that we needed to contact Hyundai Customer Care that the dealership could not do anything until a Claims Manger contacted them
... . Upon contacting Customer Care a claim number was assigned and the Hyundai claims manger eventually called saying that this defect is not covered under the recall 163 (TSB# 17-01-050 for Secondary Latch Cable) because the manufacture date is 7/30/2016 and the recall dates are 7/12/2012 through 6/27/2016. This is only 33 days after the recall period ended and sounds like the Hyundai factory had an escape of a bad vehicle. I took pictures of the secondary latch cable, it shows corrosion, and uploaded to the Hyundai website at the advice of the Customer Care Representative. After a lengthy period time the Hyundai Clams Manager reported, on a recorded line as he stressed, that his management did not see this as a warranty or goodwill repair and suggested that I make an insurance claim for the repair and for a rental car. My wife, mother in law and children were not physically injured but emotionally rattled. We've had no choice but to drive the vehicle, with the hood secured alternate DIY means, as we awaited disposition by Hyundai. We now have no choice but to arrange both repair and loaner vehicle by ourselves. Again, the vehicle manufacture and recall date range are only 33 days apart - this smells of an escape from the Hyundai manufacturing plant. Also, isn't the purpose of the secondary latch to prevent the hood from flying up if the primary latch fails or is partially / false latched? Please contact me if you need any additional information i.e. Claim number, Claims Manager name, etc.Read more

I've been informed by my mechanic of excessive rust on the rear suspension. The car will not pass state inspection due to safety issues related to this. An appointment has been made with the Honda dealership to confirm. Honda has put out a recall/buy back for the same issue on the Element and the CRV in Canada, where there are areas of high salt usage. Honda has done the same for the CRV in north
... ern 'high salt use' states but not yet the Element. I first heard knocking in the rear about 6 months ago but have generally been ignoring it. After an inspection following an unrelated issue is when I was alerted that the knocking was due to this. These are the details for the Canada recall: Honda is recalling all 2003-2011 Element SUVs, warning of rusting rear frames that could result in the complete separation of the rear trailing arm. According to Transport Canada, this recall applies to vehicles originally sold, or currently registered in areas of heavy road salt usage. This includes, but is not limited to Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. Signs of a worn rear trailing arm include difficulty to maintain a straight line, thudding noises coming from the rear and the appearance of the vehicle having been lifted. In a worst case scenario, the vehicle may lose control. Transport Canada elaborates that owners will be notified by mail to send their vehicle to dealers, who will inspect the vehicle for corrosion in the rear trailing arm front mount bolts. If passed, corrosion protection and support braces will be installed. If failed, Honda will offer to repurchase the vehicle. However, secondary inspections and body shop repairs are also possible. For more information on recall number 2021024, visit Transport Canada.Read more

I purchased this vehicle new in 2016. It currently has approximately 49,000 miles. It has never been involved in any collision. When the repairs were completed the technician informed me that I may have a rear axle misalignment as he noticed the rear axle appeared to have shifted to the right of th

My next move was taking it to an independent shop & have the rear leaf springs inspected for correct alignment which found nothing abnormal but they also measured from the center of the front wheel to the center of the rear wheel on both sides of the vehicle and found a difference in measurement of approximately 3/4". They had me drive the vehicle down the road as they followed & verified the rear of the truck was tracking to the right. I then proceeded to take it to a Ram Dealer repair shop for inspection & concluded that the rear of the truck was tracking to the right but that they were not equipped to make corrections & recommended taking it to a collision repair shop. I then proceeded with a collision repair shop where they put it on a rack & took measurements of the frame & only found a slight abnormal condition in the frame on the right side in front of the rear axle but concluded that they did not believe it would be was causing the issue. So the issue I have is rear of the truck is tracking to the right. I never knew there was an issue with the truck before I took it to Les Schwab for its first alignment.Read more
