The window regulators of this car (& other vehicles of the same model) is a poor product of productivity. The cable wires that hold the window to guide the window up & down are known to & have become tangled up around the component that is said to properly wrap up the guided cable wires in the correct placement for the windows to continue to be able to roll up & down as intended. It's not just one
... door, it is literally every single door in this vehicle that has this issue. When I decided to try & save a little bit of money & get some used window regulators, I go to a salvage yard that had another dodge caliber (different model, how ever, same window regulators) just to find upon inspection, that every single door has a spoon in between the window & the rubber guard piece. Took the door panel off to further inspect & that vehicle had the same issue I have at this very moment... Cable wires completely tangled up and completely non salvageable. Removed the spoon & the window fell down. Now I understand that it doesn't sound like a safety issue but when you are driving down the highway, doing the speed limit, and your window falls down, it's very startling and honestly a distraction while driving. Not only is that a distraction but have you ever had a bird fly into your car, from the hole that was once a window? Talk about a distraction. It's like a bee flying into your helmet while riding a motorcycle or 4wheeler. Ah! Main focus is that flying object to come out, so you try to roll down the other windows only to remember after pushing the buttons that, oh wait, they won't roll down. Ever since the window fell, Not only is that a safety issue for the ones in my car, now it's a safety issue for those driving onside of me till I can get onto the shoulder, if there is one. And hopefully the weather is nice Yes, it has been confirmed & inspected by an independent service center, & yes it is available for inspection upon request. No warning lamps.Read more

Water intrusion into racetrack tail light. This has apparently been an issue for ten years on this style of light on Durangos with no recall or fix offered. There are hundreds of YouTube videos on how to drain water by removing a bolt, applying silicone caulk or other random fixes. Now my rear tail light is so dim it's nearly undetectable and the dealership wants to charge $1600 to fix it. But I r
... ead that even though dealers replace the lights, the problem persists because the problem with design is not fixed. No warning lights to tell me my light was out. My son told me he noticed it when I visited him a few days ago. No inspection has been done. You can see water inside that's filled up the light component. I drive this vehicle less than 1000 mi per month. It can pretty much be inspected at any time in my driveway. The problem doesn't need to be confirmed by a dealer. I can take a picture. It's water in a tail light. Very obvious.Read more

The frame has rusted thru, the fuel tank strap has failed and the fuel tank has dropped. If this had happened while driving, it could have killed him and many others. Upon researching for information, we found recall U04/nhsta 18v-160 which stated this document replaced service bulletin TSB# 1400218 - all for this exact problem. This was a regional recall/extended warranty and was not issued
... for vehicles in our region. But this document does state that should any vehicle meet the criteria described (make date range, model year, and problem) that that vehicle should be covered. My fathers truck meets all 3 criteria. Upon calling FCA (Fiat, Chrysler Automobiles), who issued the document, we were told that we aren't able to be included in this issue, since we don't have a recall listed and also because the recall turned from a recall to an extended warranty that expired in 2022. If this is a known issue why is there an expiration date on the repair of it? My father's truck only has about 67,000 miles on it, which is probably why the problem is only presenting now. And if we had known there was a possible chance that this could happen, why weren't we informed to check it? He is the original owner of the vehicle and we are appalled at the FCA repsonse. The document in reference is attached.Read more

Door latch on back two doors failed and will not open at all. First door failed at 60,000 miles while getting additional maintenance at Hyundai dealership and door was discovered broken upon pickup. Dealership diagnosed problem but refused to fix it. The second door latch failure occurred at 67,000 miles. It happened while out on family trip. Having both rear doors unable to open was a major safet
... y hazard for our children seated in back who would be unable to be easily retrieved if accident were to occur. No warning lights or any other signs of warning occurred. Doors just would not open upon arrival at destination. Hyundai dealership confirmed latch failure is cause. After researching online we discovered this is a common problem with this make and model car. Hyundai stated it will take several weeks and cost $500 per door when quoted. To fix will be a several week wait and when quoted. We are worried about using the car with kids in the backseat and also worried the other two door latches will fail closed. Since this is a known problem for this model and a major safety concern it should be a recall.Read more

In March my driver’s side door starting popping or squeaking. I thought my door needed oil. I didn’t call the dealership because was going on vacation and was going to get it oiled when I returned since my car would just be in the garage. I came home mid April and it was much worse. I was finally able to get in and told it is SSM50150 and that the weld broke and my door needed replaced. My car
... turned 3 years old on April 11th ( under 31,000 miles), so since I was two weeks past my warranty, it wouldn’t be covered and would be about $3500 to fix. In addition, I tried to use my lift gate to put something in back a few days ago, and it went up and came slamming down nearly in my head. I rarely use the back and am not sure when I tried it last. I was told today that both motors for the lift gate needed to be replaced because one was badly corroded and the other was cracked. This car is not even 37 months old, not even 31,000 miles, and it needs a complete door replaced and 2 motors on the lift gate??? This is not right at all, and Ford said sorry, your warranty ended 2 weeks ago!Read more

GM has a defective wax coating on the vehicle frames of nearly a dozen models of their vehicles, spanning at least 2011-19, which they knew can lead to premature rust and corrosion, causing the frames to fail much earlier than expected. The evidence I have gathered includes the detailed internal service bulletin where GM describes the defect, as well as texts and e-mails with GM, and a transcrip
... t of my conversation with the Chevrolet dealership. All of which suggests GM knew about this defect and is actively working to keep it from being communicated to owners, some of which would still be covered by the six-year frame warranty. All that evidence is included as part of the attached pdf document. In it's bulletin GM instructs dealers to fix this issue under warranty only if customers brought it up to the dealer, and then, only if it was brought up during the vehicle frame warranty period. However, for those customers that trusted their dealership to take care of their vehicle and to notify them of any major safety issues like premature corrosion or rust on the frames likely to cause failure, those dealerships remained silent, despite being aware this was an issue with these models and model years. I suspect those dealerships remained silent because GM’s internal service bulletin clearly states that the bulletin only applies to customers who comment about rust or corrosion on their frame. I fortunately found out about this issue from a third party before my frame failed on the road. I've reached out to GM expressing my concerns I continue to get bounced between the dealer and GM, each saying the other is responsible. GM also failed to even acknowledge my greater concerns about the safety risk this creates. I've written a more detailed account of this story and have shared it out with several national news outlets in hope that someone will investigate further and determine if this issue has merit. Just hoping I can start sleeping again at night.Read more

On April 29th 2023 while washing my Volvo XC90 I opened the trunk to clean out the crevasses around the car. As I continued to wipe down/dry the vehicle I placed my hand at the top of the trunk opening and moved my way downwards to wipe the bumper and side of car. Unfortunately, the handsfree tailgate feature activated and the trunk began to close on my hand. Due to my hand being so close to the
... the spring and the speed in which the trunk door closed I was unable to move my hand fast enough. My Middle, Index and pinky finger were all crushed inside of the car trunk. No one was able to render aid to me for several minutes. I was able to contort my body enough to push the trunk button and unlock it but the gate itself would not lift. I even in a state of panic tried to kick under the car to initiate the lift, I tried lifting as best I could to get relief off of my hands. Finally about 5 minutes later a passerby came and rendered aid to me and he had to manually lift the trunk up to free my fingers. The experience has been traumatic and I am taking all necessary steps via the Volvo dealership and Volvo to have this matter checked out and resolved. The car has no sensors around the trunk with the exception of something blocking it from closing completely. Also, if you are not carefully and are leaning into the trunk and trip the handsfree tailgate sensor it can close on you if you are leaning into the trunk - this is an issue I saw with my XC60 (2021) that clearly was not resolved. I did go to the ER and wound up with thankfully a bruised hand/tendons but no broken bones but I will need to follow up with a hand surgeon to ensure I do not have tendon/nerve damage.Read more

When I was approaching my vehicle from the rear, I noticed my back window had chunks of glass missing and it appeared cracked. As I got closer, I noticed the entire back window was shattered. Pieces of glass were on the ground, meaning this occurred here, at the store. I would have noticed this earlier when leaving work because I approach my vehicle from the rear and the window was fine. Even look
... ing through the rear window while driving it was clear. I went back into the store I was at and asked the store management to review the cameras to see if a person did this. I contacted the police. Management of the store stated no one approached my vehicle. They did see “a weird occurrence of the glass just shatter, no one was near the vehicle”. The police showed up, reviewed video and said there was nothing they could do because no crime was committed. I contacted my insurance to have it repaired. I had to drive the vehicle home and then to Safelite to have it repaired, all while my rear view vision was obstructed by having shattered glass. The way the glass shattered, pieces could have struck a person walking by. If I were in the vehicle or had people in the backseat, they would have been struck with glass. Glass was scattered all throughout the back of the vehicle. I believe the tint I had on the window kept it from completely falling into the trunk. If this would have happened while being driven, it could have caused an accident. Safelite replaced the window, but was unable to remove the glass that had fallen into the tailgate. I now hear glass moving around when I drive and also when I lift and lower my tailgate. This is going to depreciate the vehicle value and also prevent me from selling the vehicle. I have also noticed while doing research, many other owners of RDX are having the same issue, yet no Recall. Acura has not considered this to be a problem.Read more
