After hearing a popping in my front end for two days I took my car into my mechanic. He took a look at it and said he’d never seen anything like it before. My stabilizer bar had completely ripped apart from my subframe. He said the metal was as thin as a few pieces of paper and there was rust. He contacted Kia to see if there were any campaigns on my car and there was one for an anti corrosion c
... oating that was not applied. I took my car to my local Kia dealership and they were not interested in helping and said they couldn’t even look at it for diagnosis for at least a month and even then didn’t know if they would cover it. I am 38 weeks pregnant and have two small children and my mechanic said it was a major safety issue to drive it as is. I contacted Kia corporate and they informed me that it would be covered but I would have to get it diagnosed at a dealership first or pay for it out of pocket. I’ve contacted every dealership within two hours of me and they have all said they can’t help or haven’t gotten back to me. Kia says they can’t be of more help because each dealership is independently owned.Read more

The power tailgate on my 2018 Honda Odyssey EX-L started opening and closing on its own, seemingly at random. The latch would not cinch and the gauge cluster reported an opening attempt while driving on the highway. This failure cascaded and ended up bringing every device on the B-CAN network down, including the instrument cluster, heated seats, power sliding doors, ADAS systems including FCW/LD
... W/LKA and various telltales and buttons on the dash. Upon disassembly of the interior to expose the affected controllers, I discovered that the power tailgate controller was full of water. There was enough water in it to cause arcing of the power and CAN terminals. I traced the ingress path upwards and discovered a crack in the seam sealer on the roof, underneath the left roof rack rail at the very rear of the vehicle. Water enters under the roof rail, drips down the door hinge, then drips down the body to the cup holder and directly into the controller. To remediate I had to replace the damaged controller and apply seam sealer underneath the roof rail at a cost of approximately $200. I called the local dealer to attempt to report this to Honda but was unable to find the appropriate person. Over a dozen people have reported this issue online and there are pictures of the issue. I posted pictures to one of the links referenced below and have additional pictures. I believe this is a manufacturing defect and not caused by age or use of the vehicle and there is strong evidence it affects a lot of people. The issue will be particularly prevalent when the vehicle is parked outside on a downward incline. I work in a related industry on embedded devices that must meet functional safety standards, and I believe an issue like this would lead to a mandatory safety recall. My child was inside the minivan in the 2nd row and pressed the close door button on the sliding door while holding their other hand on the door jamb near the handle on the interior frame. The door slid closed and smashed their hand hard, automatically latching the door with their hand crushed inside the door. This is possible because their is a pinch sensor, but it is only on the outside edge of t

I tested this with a flip flop and confirmed that it could be placed inside almost the entire width of the door and the door would still close with unrelenting full force. This does not seem to be a manufacturing defect, but instead seems to be a significant safety design defect and puts children or adults inside the vehicle at risk for injury including broken fingers.Read more

I am writing to formally submit a complaint against the Tesla Service Center in Rockville, Maryland. My concerns relate both to a potential safety issue and the subsequent handling of repairs to my vehicle. 1. **Safety Concern:** On 08/25/2023, the driver-side window of my Tesla vehicle shattered spontaneously without any evident external cause. This sudden malfunction while the car was in use is
... alarming, representing a significant safety concern for passengers and other road users. I believe that such a defect warrants immediate attention, especially if this is a recurring issue among other Tesla vehicles. 2. **Unsatisfactory Service Post-incident:** After bringing my vehicle to the service above center for repairs, I was relieved that the window issue would be addressed under warranty. However, when my car was under Tesla’s care, another Tesla customer hit and damaged it within their premises. What is profoundly distressing is how the service center addressed this matter. Instead of accepting responsibility for an accident that happened in their domain, they deflected responsibility, advising me to coordinate with the other car owner for repairs. This has not only added to my inconvenience, but it has also cost me additional time off from work to address damages that were not my fault. Moreover, now I am faced with being without my vehicle for an extended period, given that the body shop estimates a 4-5 day repair timeline. In total, I have been without my car for nearly two weeks due to the initial window concern and the subsequent collision. This situation has raised concerns about the structural safety of Tesla vehicles and the integrity and responsibility of their service centers. Such a dismissive approach to customer care is unexpected from a brand of Tesla's stature. I strongly believe that no customer should face such challenges and inconvenience, especially when entrusting their vehicle to a service center.Read more

Driver's side door on my 2013 BMW X1 sDrive28i will not open using either the outside door handle or the inside door handle. The door locks open and close using either the remote key fob or the key inserted into the driver's side door, but the driver's side door will not physically open. The other doors, as well as the rear hatch, do open. The mechanical part of the door lock actuator that holds t
... he door latch to the striker plate on the frame on the driver's side door is stuck in the closed position. When you pull on the either the outside or inside door handle, the door moves ever so slightly but the door will not open. In order to lock the car after trying to open the driver's side door, one needs to then push the driver's side door in slightly so that is clicks shut. This will due to the slight movement when trying to open the door. Otherwise, the car locking mechanism will not work (i.e. none of the doors will lock) using either the remote key fob or the key in the door. This failure happened suddenly without warning. This is a safety issue because it makes it difficult to exit the vehicle in an emergency. Not being able to open the driver's side door is also a MAJOR inconvenience. The right front door actuator failed at 23,844 miles and was replaced under warranty. BMW door actuators used on the 2013 BMW X1 are not reliable. I slightly opened the sunroof liner, because the loud noise seem to come from directly overhead. I saw that the sunroof was shattered, so quickly closed the sunroof liner to prevent any glass from falling down. I exited the first exit and drove to the dealership. Ironically, I already had an appointment for routine maintenance. When I arrived at the dealer - I saw that an approximate 6" x 2" section of glass was missing, and the rest of the sunroof was completely shattered. There is no visible damage to any other part of the Highlander.
