The rear doors on my 2017 Lincoln Continental do not open from the outside when the exterior handle button is pressed. The doors do open from the inside. This failure is very similar to the symptoms described in Ford’s existing recall for defective door latches on 2017 Continental vehicles, but my VIN is not included in the recall. This is a safety hazard because first responders or bystanders
... may be unable to open the rear doors from outside during an emergency such as a fire or crash. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether the recall should be expanded to include additional VINs, including mine. The failure was intermittent initially and then the door latches eventually stopped working completely (from the exterior.Read more

The left‑side roof rail trim detached from the vehicle while driving, creating a road hazard that could have struck another vehicle or pedestrian. The remaining right‑side trim is now lifting and is likely to detach as well. Ford has previously issued safety recalls (21S22, 24S02) for roof rail and pillar trim detachment on other models (e.g., Explorer) because loose trim can fly off and caus

The dashboard of our 2011 Lexus IS has begun to "melt," for lack of better words. We have owned the car since 2011 and it has approximately 162000 miles now. I am reporting a life-threatening incident involving my 2020 Ford Fusion PHEV. On December 5, 2025, while my wife was driving on a public street, the vehicle suffered a sudden, complete engine failure followed by smoke and fire originating from the high-voltage battery pack in the trunk. There were no prior warning signs or dashboard alerts before the incident. This vehicle was sold via IAAI aucti
... on in September 2023 without disclosing the active, critical safety recall (NHTSA 23V440 / Ford 23S33) issued in June 2023. This non-disclosure placed my family in extreme danger. When the fire started, my wife was in a state of panic. I arrived at the scene before emergency services. Being a technician, I performed a high-risk manual extraction of the burning battery pack to prevent the entire vehicle and the surrounding residential area from a potential explosion. I risked electrocution and toxic chemical exposure to save lives. The damaged battery pack is currently preserved and available for professional inspection upon request. As a result of the fire and exposure to extinguisher chemicals, I suffered respiratory distress and asthma-like symptoms for several days. I have contacted Ford Motor Company through official channels and documented all interactions. Ford representatives stated that they 'only assist customers in the United States' and local representatives in [XXX] have officially refused to provide the remedy, stating they are not authorized or equipped for this specific recall. I am now left with a charred, unusable vehicle. I demand a full investigation into the failure of the recall remedy process and manufacturer liability for these life-threatening damages. The roof trim panel separates from the vehicle while driving. Depending on the car's speed the metal, plastic and rubber strip is lifted up and off the car and into the slip stream behind the vehicle creating a serious hazard for cars behind us. We examined the strip and determined the plastic clips that hold this panel in place do not function as intended, or fail to adequately hold this large
... section of trim in place during driving conditions. We brought this to the attention to the Kia dealership and were told "Warranty replacement items are not covered after 12 months". They offered to replace the item but we believe it is material craftsmanship and a design flaw that allows this trim to fall off the car while driving.Read more

I have noticed visible rust forming on the roof, specifically the front drivers side adjacent to the inside edge of the roof rail that runs forward to aft on the vehicle. The same stated rust spot is near where the roof meets the windshield. It is available for inspection upon request. My 2019 Toyota Rav4 along with several other 5th generation Rav4 owners online are experiencing rust in the same
... exact spot. This rust may be a result of the Toyota Customer Service Program (CSP) #22TE05 and T-SB-0016-23 that came of a result of the Fishkind v. Toyota Motor Sales, USA et al. No. Case 2:23-cv-02279 Class Action Lawsuit. This rust may have been formed by the leaking roof rail gaskets that have a slow enough leak rate to penetrate the roof rail clip holes and create moisture and rust over an extended period of time but not high enough of a leak rate to cause excess leakage into the vehicle that would immediately alarm the driver to have the vehicle taken into the dealership for immediate repair before the corrosion and rust can have a chance to spread. After several conversations with Toyota Corporate and my Toyota dealership they have denied me CSP inspection and any coverage or good will assistance through the CSP# 22TE05 & T-SB-0016-23 despite evidence of water residue buildup on the headliner visible through a UV blacklight. Even if the rust is not caused from the roof rail gasket leakage, there are still multiple other instances online of other 5th gen rav4 owners experiencing roof rust in the same exact spot adjacent to the drivers side roof rail near the windshield, which points to a manufacturing defect. My safety will be put at risk when the corrosion worsens and leaks through into the electrical components of the vehicle. My dealership witnessed the rust but denied performing an inspection of the roof rail clips since there is currently visible rust, likely due to the roof rail clips leakage. No manufacturer inspection. No noticeable warning symptoms.Read more

While driving on Intestate I-95 in the Express Lane at high speed in my 2022 Tesla Model Y, the hood (frunk) suddenly flew open, smashed into the windshield and remained in the upright position. Luckily I was able to slow down and ease blindly into the emergency lane without causing further damage to myself or others. I lost entire visibility at high speed and my windshield was smashed on the hig
... hway. This was a traumatic experience that could have caused serious damage to me personally and other motorists. The hood (frunk) latch failed to operate properly and was available for inspection immediately. Once the highway safety patrol officer forced the hood down and escorted me safely off the highway, we drove the vehicle to a Tesla dealership directly after the incident. The Tesla dealer initially took full responsibility for the incident and said they would repair at their expense. However, the story changed once they did a VIN search on my vehicle and discovered I had been hit (not my fault, driver ran red light) in the front quarter panel prior to this incident. Tesla said the fault was on the repair shop (Tesla recommended) who had fixed the vehicle prior to the incident. The repair facility claimed they were not at fault, and Tesla was responsible, as they did not touch the frunk latch as noted by the invoice for repair/parts and painting/lack of near the latch. This is a recurring incident as reported by recalls and my vehicle is listed as one of the possible vehicles for recall. The vehicle was inspected by insurance, and the same Tesla recommend repair facility we used before. There were no warning lamps, signals or symptoms to indicate anything was wrong or loose with the latch. In the end, we had to file the incident through our insurance provider and pay out of pocket for the repair in order to get the vehicle back on the road. I'm truly frustrated with the lack of ownership by Tesla over the incident, they are losing a brand loyal customer.Read more

On 03/13/2026, while driving my 2020 Tesla Model X at approximately 65 mph on a freeway, the front hood (frunk lid) suddenly flew open without warning and slammed into the windshield. The hood rotated upward violently and struck the windshield completely blocking the driver’s forward visibility. This created an immediate safety hazard while traveling at highway speed. Prior to the incident there
... were no warning messages or alerts displayed on the vehicle screen indicating that the hood was open or improperly latched. Tesla vehicles normally provide a dashboard and a sound alert if the hood is not properly latched before driving. No such warning occurred. The vehicle’s front camera recorded the incident. The video does not show any hood movement or flutter prior to the failure, suggesting that the hood was fully closed before the event. After the incident, Tesla service personnel inspected the vehicle. The technician stated that the hood may not have been properly latched prior to driving. However: The vehicle gave no dashboard warning No hood movement or vibration was visible prior to the event The hood opened suddenly and violently rather than gradually If the secondary latch alone had been holding the hood, some hood movement or vibration would normally be expected prior to full release. Vehicle: 2017 Nissan Rogue VIN: [XXX] Issue: Hood latch / safety latch failure Description of the problem: While opening the fuel door, I accidentally pulled the interior hood‑release lever. The primary hood latch released, but the hood remained mostly closed. I did not realize the hood was unlatched. When I began driving, the hood suddenly flew open. This indicates that the secondary safety l
... atch failed to engage and hold the hood down, which is its intended safety function. . A failure of the secondary hood latches is a serious safety hazard, and the hood opening while driving created an immediate visibility obstruction and risk of a crash. What happened as a result: The hood flew open while the vehicle was in motion, blocking forward visibility. I was able to stop safely, but this could have caused a collision. Frequency: This is the first occurrence, but the latch mechanism may be sticking. Why this is a safety concern: Even if the primary latch is released, the secondary safety latch is specifically designed to prevent the hood from opening while driving. Its failure represents a critical safety defect. Request: Please document this incident and evaluate whether similar failures are occurring on 2017 Nissan Rogue vehicles.
