Incident date: Dec 18, 2023
Hello, I took my Nissan Altima into my local Nissan dealer for a hood latch recall on 11/13/2023. On 11/21/2023 at about 6:40 pm I was driving my car at a speed of maybe 45-50mph and my hood flew open hitting my windshield causing damage to my car, and scaring my son and I. I called the dealer the next morning and spoke to Anthony from the service department regarding this situation, and he stated
... a faulty latch could have been put on my car, causing this to happen. I sent pictures to him via email, and he advised that he would contact the director and call me back with an update. I received a callback within hours advising Nissan would cover the damages but I would need to contact consumer affairs to see which location could do the repairs as they were behind by 8 month at that location in particular and could not provide me with a loaner car. After a week of waiting for an update from a dealer to confirm repairs, I had the car towed to the Thomas Nissan of Joliet on 12/4/2023 as the car would not accelerate anymore due to the hard brake. As of today 12/18/2023 I have spoken to the service manager there and he advised parts came in but they do not have a date for repairs or approval on the acceleration issue and for now will only repair the body. I advised that I am extremely saddened by the way I am being handled after such a traumatic ordeal that could have been deadly or life altering. This recall was supposed to prevent this issue, and it only caused it. This recall hasn't done anything to fix the cars, and neither have three other hood latch recalls for Altima cars. Altima drivers are in danger from hoods that suddenly fly open while driving, and this situation just proves a problem. Nissan doesn't know how to properly repair it, and my car and I are proof.Read more

Driver side door suddenly began making loud creaking and popping noise when opening and closing. The driver side window also will not let all the way down since the noises started. Took it to a 3rd party to have it put on and they advised that there was a failure with the spot welds in the

On December 14, 2023 I noticed there was an orange spot and several smaller orange areas that appeared under the clearcoat on my front bumper. I was unable to remove them through hand washing and waxing. I decided to take it in to two local body shops who pointed out to me that the fender was misaligned. After further review we found paint peeling and cracking on and under the hood as well as the
... painted area around the engine components. In addition, seam filler was left exposed on the roof in multiple spots, not prepped correctly, and just painted over. The pin stripe installed by the dealership was also peeling off. Furthermore, the hood was painted (twice as thick) and other painted panels had a different paint thickness. I contacted the selling dealer directly (missed during PDI), and my nearest dealership to report these issues and to start case with Honda for a resolution.Read more

We bought this trailer brand new in 2016. A few months later the gate opened at one side because it had not been centered when the trailer was manufactured and the latch pin didn’t go far enough into the receiver. The manufacturer paid to have this defect corrected. A few weeks ago the pin opened once again due to a faulty welding spot at the bracket. The bracket is welded onto the frame at 2
... spots, the rear welding spot detached from the frame, allowing the pin to move towards the rear so that the gate opens at one side. Eventually the gate could completely open when it is held by only one pin at the other side and the cargo presses against it. If the gate opens on the freeway and cargo flies into a following vehicle, people could die. The company received pictures and argued that the owner can’t expect the welding spots to last beyond the one year warranty. We feel that these trailers are not safe anymore after a few years.Read more

Bought my daughter a 2020 Ford Escape. Last week, while at college, she called to say her door was making loud sounds when opening and shutting it and her window wouldn't roll down. Concerned that the door wouldn't stay shut I had her go to the Ford dealership in her college town. They told her they have seen two other Ford Escapes this week with the same issue and that she would probably need
... a new door. I called my local dealership and was basically told the same thing. They knew exactly what I was talking about before I started in 4-5 sentences. When she got home I went to look at the door. It swings open with no resistance and the window doesn't roll down. Upon further investigating from my local repair shop he helped me look up the problem. It is SSM 50150 -Cracked or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly. I have a major concern with safety on this issue. Yes diagnosis from the dealership that panel was coming loose. Then upon picking up my vehicle, panel disbonded on the highway. Dealer is Mercedes-Benz of Atlanta South. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No inspection only completed by local Dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Excessive wind noise inside the cabin during vehicle operation. In addition, my year, make and model vehicle has already had a recall regarding this issue, however, Mercedes did not identify my vehicle VIN number for this recall and is refusing to repair this safety issue. But the exact issue occurred on my vehicle. The NHTSA campaign numbers for the two recalls are 17V715000 (MBUSA number 2017110009) and a revised campaign in 2021 21V197 (MBUSA number 2021070010), which states “Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2017-2018 GLC300, GLC300 4Matic, and GLC43 AMG vehicles. The fixed panoramic sunroof frontal and side plastic panels may have insufficient bonding, allowing the panels to separate during vehicle operation”. Warning signs for these recalls are “high wind noise inside the cabin” which is EXACTLY what was diagnosed on my vehicle by the dealership. So essentially I stopped for a charge about 30 minutes before, I charged it, then hopped back on the turnpike as I was heading to Outer Banks NC, while I was on the turn pike where I believe at the time I started to go around a curve not a sharp one but a curve right after coming off this bridge. Every 1 minute and 30 seconds you have to put your hands on the wheel and give it a jerk to keep it en

As I was changing the album of the artists I was listening too I heard the BEEP BEEP BEEP which means you are approaching something and are about to hit it, As I looked up all I saw was blinking lights and really smacked the rear end of this traffic control truck, anywhere from 65-75 miles per hour with no time to react. If I remember correctly I had my car on 7 lengths away (maximum amount you can have away). As I hit the control I hit my head pretty hard on the steering wheel so the whole memory is blurry following when it happened and my adrenaline was very high but I didn’t wanna go to the Emergency room even though they suggested highly because I have no health insurance and that would have had to come out of my own pocket and I was stuck in Pennsylvania by myself and didn’t wanna get stuck in the hospital too. Thank you so much for taking your time to look at this it means a lot.Read more

I have a 2017 RAV4 Hybrid XLE that I bought brand New. I have done all schedule maintenance on it. I was driving to an appointment on 15 November 2023 and the vehicle all the sudden jerked violently side to side throwing me off the road. I brought the car to the shop thinking an alignment or something. My whole rear subframe was cracked, and by the driver side rear wheel bolt it was broke straigh
... t through where the tow bar connects to the subframe. The mechanic said it was from rust from living in the Northeast, and the salt from the road during winter months. The Mechanic said Even though I took care of the vehicle this was going to happen anyways due to the subframe suspension parts that Toyota puts in the RAV4. Being flung into a ditch coming off a highway is a dangerous situation, and could of cost me my life because Toyota wants to save money and put in parts knowing that the rust problem will and could occur. I did my research, and found out this has been going on since 2007 and there have been recalls on models all the way up to 2012. If this is a known thing then why is Toyota being allowed to still make a weak subframe. Does someone have to die for this to be stoped. I’m am asking for a recall on all models of 2017 Rav4 hybrids and on to fix this problem. I am lucky to escape with minor injures, but maybe the next person isn’t. Something has to be done.Read more

Truck's power door lock actuators are failing and fail to unlock the doors via remote or the interior door(s) electric unlock button(s). The only way to open the door is via exterior key (if you happen to have it accessible) or if you pull the vehicle's interior door handle, which then "pops" the door lock button. This failure is alarming as in the event of an emergency, access to the interior cab
... of the vehicle can not be gained from the exterior without a key. Similarly, access to the interior of the cab can only be provided when one squeezes, or pulls, the vehicle's interior door handle.
