The auto opening passenger side door was only opening half way and stopping. Aware that there might be a component that prevented proper function we stopped the door by using electric eye and opened the door manually. This worked fine. We were traveling when this issue started. When we returned home I was unloading the van. It opened half way and started to close. I stood in the door to get i
... t to stop closing. When it stopped I took the handle so I could close the Door this action triggered the motor. The door finished opening and fell off. I caught it. I was by myself and had no children with me. I had groceries near by that I used to prop the door. I was then able to assess the situation. There are two small rollers that run under the back window. They are hooked to a hing that folds and unfolds when door opens and closes. When the door malfunctioned the door fell out of the back window track and fell toward me. I am a strong adult and was able to catch the door. It twisted off the bottom too. After trying to get the door back on the body of the car I gave up and called an auto body shop. They were unable to come out at that time the temp was -8 degrees. I looked at the working door on the drivers side. I was able to get the rollers back in the track enough to get the car into the shed. I packed the door with towels and rugs to keep it on the car. The next day the auto body shop staff came out. It took two men to get the rollers back into the track. If they would not have been able to get it on the track I would have had to have it Towed into the dealership. 20 miles away. I am glad I was at home. I am glad I did not have children in the car. I am glad I was able to catch the door. The next morning body shop staff closed the double latched door and push it into the latches without triggering the motor that opened and shut the door. I drove it to the shop, they ran diagnostics. The top and middle roller hinges were broken.Read more

Driver's side door hinge/weld problem. That Ford is aware of and not fixing free of charge! These vehicles are 2020-21! Mileage should not matter, because actually high mileage on a new car should show the door is NOT being used very often, rather there are long journeys in between each use. It is problem, they are aware of it, and they are leaving it up to the customer to repair the vehicles.

The driver's side door hinge/arm is broken. Sometimes the door cannot shut, sometimes it is very difficult to open. If this is the same issue as that reported by car and driver [XXX], then whoever drives the car could be at risk of the door coming open while the car is in motion. I took the car to my local Ford Dealer/Repair shop today. They said it isn't an issue they can handle: I have to tak

The problem first started as a sound like plastic getting caught. Then it worsened (the weather here got worse as well-- down to -25). When the door was hard to open, I pushed it harder and then I started getting metal against metal noises. There were no warning lights on the dashboard at all. A faulty body seam seal allowed rain to enter the body of the vehicle and infiltrate the power tailgate control module. On my vehicle, this produced the error message "Tailgate Problem". Firstly I think I must inform you that I am reporting this from the UK, I am a US citizen but live part time in the UK and this was a UK delivered car. I have also reported this to the UK DVSA. This is to report two problems that I think you should know about, both of which are potentially life threatening. 1.My wife became locked in the car and could only exit after the computer was rebooted.
... There is an electrically activated "Dead Bolt" that prevents the door handle from opening the door, this is under the control of the computer. If the computer system has a glitch, which it seems to have every time the car is driven, then the "Dead Bolt" may not release trapping one in the car. It seems ridiculous that this design has passed even a basic safety review. There should be a purely mechanical connection between the inside door handle and the lock, or a secondary emergency release handle. Imagine being trapped in the car after an accident with possibly a fire or the car filling with water and being unable open the door. There are many other reports of people being trapped in this model car on the Fisker forums etc. The Fisker UK sales manager told me of an incident where all 4 passengers were locked in the car for hours before a Fisker technician released them. I have returned the car to Fisker and have just received my money back, after telling them I would not drive the car again because of this potential safety issue. I think these cars should be taken off the road until the door locks are redesigned and retrofitted to every car. Someone is going to die trapped in one of these cars. Please take this very seriously, it reminds me of the Apollo 1 Catastrophe. 2. On three occasions while braking the brakes seemed to release while I was still pressing the pedal, the car even seemed to accelerate briefly which was very scary. On the third occasion I was stopping behind another car that stopped suddenly and I nearly ran into the back of it.Read more

On the date below, a warning banner and chime signaled that our car's emergency communication system was not functional. Soon after, we noticed that the navigation system was "lost"; ie, showing our car in a different state, sometimes in water, incorrect displays of speed limits being shown, etc. Vehicle was evaluated at a BMW dealership, and the primary defective part was found to be the "shark
... fin" on the roof. Water entered the roof structure (not the interior of the car) via this sharkfin, and resulted in damage to the TCB, which reportedly controls many of the car's more-advanced electrical functions. Due to unfortunate clauses in warrantees on the car--both BMW certified pre-owned coverage, and also a 3rd party service contract that was purchased at the time of purchase, from the BMW dealer, as a bumper-to-bumper "platinum" supplement to the certified pre-owned warranty, are currently in effect for this car--this defect is NOT covered. Cost to repair all involvedf parts is approximately $5,000. As a consequence of this expense, it has not been repaired, and likely will not be in the near future. A Google search about this issue yielded numerous identical incidents involving this same model/year of BMW. Several owners wondered if a recall was needed, since it is clearly a manufacturer defect with clear-cut and repeated ramifications, is very costly to repair (so is likely to NOT be repaired, in many instances), and is subject to a loophole in warranty coverage. My impression from this internet search is that other systems in the car might soon stop working. I believe it is a safety issue, now, given the failure of the emergency communication function controlled by the TCB, and might become more of an issue in the future, when/if additional functions fail.Read more

The individual I spoke with at the dealership also confirm rusting issues on the frame of my truck style model. I researched this on the internet to find out multiple complaints concerning the premature rusting of these frames due to poor quality steel and inadequate rust prevention coating. I reached out to my vehicle manufacture "care line". They stated they could not help me. My fear is my frame could break while driving and cause a vehicle accident. The worst frame damage is near the front wheels, both sides. The body, engine, transmission and all other safety components are solid and working well. Side Note: My dad owns a 1992 full size pickup truck (different manufacture). The frame is still solid.
