The car failed inspection due to rust which had formed at the attachment points where the body is bolted to the chassis. The importance of this location made this rust a severe safety risk. The problem existed on both left and right sides of the vehicle. The fact that water was channeled to these locations with no opportunity for drainage or rust protection is a clear design flaw.
