My vehicle started to have an extremely aggressive shaking steering wheel when trying to turn into a parking lot leaving me stuck in the road for 10minutes not being able to turn without it jerking aggressively. While driving at highway speed on November 11, 2025, my 2021 Jeep Wrangler experienced a sudden and complete electrical failure without warning. A “Battery Saver Mode” message appeared, and within seconds multiple safety systems began shutting down. First Failure: While driving on the highway and exiting, the vehicle abruptly lost power steering, ABS, stability control, airbag system, exterio
... r lighting, dashboard displays, and engine power. Multiple warning lamps illuminated at once. Steering and braking became extremely difficult, creating an immediate safety risk. I was able to coast to a stop and park. The vehicle then appeared stable and the messages cleared. Second Failure: After restarting the vehicle, the warning reappeared. While driving on a major high-traffic roadway, the vehicle experienced a total electrical shutdown in active traffic and would not restart. Third Failure: A towing service attempted to jump-start the vehicle; it briefly powered on, illuminated nearly every warning light, then immediately shut down again with the radiator fan running at full speed. The electrical system continued to collapse and the vehicle required a full tow. Inspection and Diagnosis: The dealership confirmed a complete alternator and charging system failure at approximately 36,419 miles. This failure occurred at only 4 years of age, which is unusually early for an alternator or charging system failure. The vehicle’s original battery also failed unusually early (at only 2.5 years old) without warning, which may have been an early indication of a charging system issue. The vehicle is lightly used, garage-kept, never off-roaded, and regularly maintained. The sudden loss of steering assist, braking assist, airbags, lighting, and engine power at speed and in high-traffic areas created an extreme safety risk for myself and others. This appears to be a premature electrical system failure and may relate to broader charging system concerns reported in similar vehicles.Read more

My 2019 Volvo XC60 with approximately 65,000 miles, experienced a sudden failure of the electric power steering rack. The vehicle became unable to steer and unsafe to drive. The dealership confirmed that the entire steering rack must be replaced at a cost of nearly $7,000. I was told by an independent second opinion that this kind of steering rack failure is highly unusual at this mileage and may
... indicate a premature component failure. This is a serious safety risk for drivers. I filed a claim with Volvo’s Goodwill program on October 15, 2025, and after five weeks of no communication from Volvo Corporate (despite endless attempts to reach them on my behalf), the only information I have received is a secondary text from my service rep that Volvo is offering a small portion of coverage — with no explanation or written decision. My 2024 Subaru Ascent developed a recurring clunk/thump noise from the steering system during low-speed turning (10–15 mph) and when turning the wheel at a stop. The noise was present daily and worsened over time. I took the vehicle to two Subaru dealerships. Sterling Subaru dismissed the steering noise completely and stated they could not duplicate it. Dulles Subaru also initially dismissed th
... e issue. Only when I returned to pick up the vehicle and insisted on demonstrating the noise did their technician acknowledge it. They compared my vehicle to another Ascent on the lot and confirmed the noise was abnormal. Dulles then replaced the steering gear box assembly (steering rack) under warranty. This confirms there was a mechanical defect in the steering system. Before this repair, I also reported excessive inner-edge wear on both front tires. The technician documented “excessive wear on both front inner tires” and recommended replacing all four tires and performing an alignment. Inner-edge wear on both front tires is not caused by lack of rotation—it is consistent with misalignment or steering geometry deviation, which matches the confirmed steering defect. Subaru America has refused to replace the damaged tires even though the tire manufacturer (Falken) stated in writing that irregular wear caused by a mechanical defect is the vehicle manufacturer’s responsibility. Safety concern: A defective steering rack caused abnormal steering behavior and front-end geometry issues, which led to rapid inner-edge tire wear. If unnoticed, this can result in loss of steering control or a tire failure at highway speeds. Both dealerships initially dismissing the issue is also concerning. I am filing this report so NHTSA can track potential steering-related defects and resulting tire safety issues on the 2024 Subaru Ascent. I can provide service records, photos, and Subaru correspondence upon request.Read more

I would like to report a safety concern with my car having a strong shuddering or vibration, including the steering wheel which I’m unable to move. When this happens RPM remain below 3000 rpm as if the the gears were having trouble changing, the shaking remains while driving in the city at around 25-35 mph and highway speeds at around 65-76 mph. My car was under warranty when this started happen
... ing, the dealership flushed and replaced the transmission fluid and it took care of the problem for about 2000 miles (GM has several bulletins in regards to the “shake” on different model vehicles since 2014). When the shuddering returned, I returned to the freedom Chevrolet where I bought the vehicle (actual mileage 53768) and explained the shuddering returning. I was advised to leave the car which now has been at the dealership for months and they refuse to fix the problem stating it is out of warranty. I provided all the bulletins I found on related issue which GM has stated they fix the problem by swapping the transmission on new cars but nothing has been done on the cars that have the existing problem because “there is no recall” as the service advisor stated. This problem could’ve been resolved when I took the car the first time but I wasn’t aware of the severity of the problem or that I would have so much trouble with the dealership now. All I asked is to honor the warranty as the issue was brought up when the vehicle was still under warranty and has less than 60,000 miles.Read more

This is a follow-up to two previous complaints. The first complaint was filed around 5/22/25, and the second complaint was filed around 7/08/25. The complaint is related to a 2022 GMC Yukon that we purchased new. As reported in the previous complaints, we experienced several problems with the suspension and steering of the vehicle. The SUV continues to have a knocking, cracking, snapping noise com
... ing from the front suspension when making a right or left turn, or u-turn. The dealer has made several attempts to fix it, but continues to occur. The warning lights continue to be set on and off, but not as often. The infoentertainment system as well. One of the other reported issues was the low oil warning light coming up and thus oil consumption. The SUV was taken to the dealer on 9/11/25, and the GMC service staff reported the SUV, during the summer hot days, was 1.9, almost two quarts. They asked to drive the SUV for an additional 2000 miles, and it was short by .9 quart. GMC claimed it is normal, but per their recommendations on oil changes, the vehicle would be 7 quarts between oil changes unless the driver checks the level every 1500 to 2000 miles. Not only was the information misleading as they denied to perform any services, but also is a safety concern for the damages it can cause to the vehicle, especially if it goes on safety mode. Around 7/24/25, we submitted a request for a buy-back to GM, which they approved 30 days later; however, they still have not made good on the promise, and the vehicle remains with these safety, operational, and mechanical issues.Read more
