What component or system failed or malfunctioned? Electrical system: infotainment display module, BCM, passive entry antenna, ignition/start system, and electronic power steering. Vehicle available for inspection. How was safety put at risk? The vehicle locked my children inside and would not start, requiring assistance to open it. The power steering failed for several hours, leaving the car un
... safe to drive. Ongoing electrical instability creates unpredictable loss of critical functions. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer? Some issues were confirmed by the dealer (screen blanking, key fob failure, antenna fault, software issues). Others, including the power steering failure and lock-in incident, were not reproduced but were documented and acknowledged. Has the vehicle or component been inspected? Yes. The Jeep dealership has inspected the vehicle multiple times, performed software updates, antenna replacement, PCM updates, and a steering update. They provided history and advised contacting Jeep Cares. Warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to failure? Yes. Screen blanking, random language/time changes, stop/start light not working, key fob failure, vehicle not starting, and power steering not activating. Incident date: Oct 21, 2025
I am reporting multiple safety-related defects on my 2017 Tesla Model S (VIN [XXX] ) that were present at the time of purchase but not disclosed by the selling dealer (Starling Ford, Titusville, FL). A certified independent EV repair facility (The Electrified Garage) inspected the vehicle on 11/17/2025 and documented the following safety defects: • failing/worn suspension components (control ar
... ms, thrust arms, cracked bushings) • torn sway-bar link boots • inoperative right-rear window regulator • driver window contacting internal wiring harness • moisture in the rear inner tail lamp • previous A/C drain blockage causing interior water intrusion These issues pose risks related to steering stability, electrical safety, visibility, and structural integrity. All of these conditions existed prior to the sale and were not disclosed. I am requesting NHTSA to log this complaint for federal safety review as these defects involve suspension, electrical moisture intrusion, and visibility issues that may impact the safe operation of the vehicle. The steering wheel locks briefly when the Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system restarts the vehicle. This happens intermittently, about 50% of the time. It has affected the ability to steer the vehicle properly when turning at a traffic light after the ISG system has initiated an engine shutdown and subsequent restart. This issue has been reported to our local dealership, but the technicians were not abl
... e to reproduce the issue. We have also experienced a complete loss of electrical power in the vehicle with the ISG system a few times. Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently deactivate the ISG system; the auto stop button must be pressed every time the vehicle is used to deactivate it for that trip.Read more

Upon purchasing the vehicle, I discovered multiple critical safety defects that were not disclosed at the time of sale and were confirmed by an independent EV specialist (Electrified Garage). These defects include worn and failing front and rear suspension components (control arms, thrust arms, and cracked/damaged bushings), a failing sway bar link boot, and a malfunctioning window that makes cont
... act with the internal wiring harness. The suspension defects create instability over bumps and uneven roads, producing clunks, shifting, and vibration that affect steering control and overall stability. These issues present a risk of suspension failure while driving, which could cause loss of control. The window/wiring contact also poses a potential electrical hazard if the harness becomes damaged. The independent inspection documented that these defects existed before I took possession of the vehicle. The dealer did not disclose any of these issues, and the defects were not visible during a standard test drive. I am reporting this because the suspension defects directly affect vehicle handling, safety, and crash-avoidance capability. I want NHTSA to be aware in case similar defects appear in other vehicles of the same model/year.Read more

I am submitting a complaint regarding my 2020 Jeep Gladiator, which has exhibited persistent and dangerous steering issues since shortly after I purchased it. The issue is commonly referred to as the "death wobble." Despite 5 separate repair attempts performed by an authorized Jeep/Stellantis dealership, the safety defect continues to occur. This issue is very commonly know to Jeep. I have even be
... en told my the Service Agent I worked with at the dealership that the steering damper is known to be inadequate, but still continually put on the Jeep. The issue started at approximately 25,000 miles, and upon the 5th time bringing it in for the same safety defect, the car is at 92,000 miles. At highway speeds, if the vehicle hits any uneven pavement, the car will begin to shack violently and the vehicle becomes difficult to control. On multiple occasions, the vehicle felt uncontrollable. This creates an extremely unsafe driving condition for me, my family, and other drivers on the road. I have to be hyper focused to avoid any pothole or other change in pavement in order to try and prevent the steering defect to happen. Even when the steering damper has been replaced, the new one can break at any point again, creating a danger every time this vehicle is driven on the highway. I have opened a formal complaint with Jeep as I can no longer use the vehicle in good conscious with my 4-month old daughter. The defect-steering damper breaking can happen anytime, as the exact same part is replaced each time with no successful remedy. I am asking the NHTSA to investigate the steering defect, determine whether a broader safety recall is necessary, assist in compelling Stellantis to provide an appropriate remedy for a vehicle that has undergone multiple unsuccessful repair attempts for a safety-critical defect. I have included all service documents and my communication with Jeep/Stellantis.Read more

Vehicle: 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Mileage: Approx. 67,000 Case Number with Jeep/Stellantis: 94808242 I am reporting a recurring and dangerous “death wobble” safety defect in my 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. I have experienced more than 30 separate incidents of violent front-end shaking while driving, often at highway speeds. The wobble happens suddenly without warning and causes the vehicle to
... become difficult to control, creating a serious risk of losing control, swerving into other lanes, or causing a crash. I have three children who regularly ride in this vehicle, and these episodes have occurred while they were present. The problem has occurred under multiple road and weather conditions. I have attempted repairs including new tires and new shocks, and the issue still persists. The vehicle has been evaluated by Jeep dealership service departments and the problem has not been resolved. I have documented each event with video recordings and logs including date, time, speed, tire pressure, and temperature. The manufacturer has opened Case #94808242, but the defect remains unresolved. This is an ongoing safety hazard and the vehicle is unsafe to operate. I am requesting an investigation and formal record of this recurring safety defect.Read more

The likely failed component is the Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL). Associated systems include the steering column, BCM, and EPS motor. Yes, the vehicle and component are available for inspection upon request (Owner: [XXX] , [XXX] ). The safety of the owner and other drivers was put at risk by the sudden, unpredictable loss of steering control (locking mid-turn). This makes it impossible t
... o safely navigate curves or avoid hazards, leading to a high risk of a severe crash, injury, or fatality. The no-start condition also strands the owner. UNKNOWN. The report only states that the symptoms strongly align with an ESCL failure based on a diagnostic summary, but does not explicitly confirm a dealer or independent service center has reproduced or confirmed the specific ESCL component failure. UNKNOWN. The report does not mention inspection by the manufacturer (Nissan), police, or insurance representatives. The main warning symptom is the intermittent brake warning light (randomly turning on and off while driving, with no clear cause). The problems have been ongoing for the past year and appear to be worsened by the extreme heat in [XXX] . The vehicle generally does not display helpful diagnostic codes despite serious failures. The incident involves multiple, recurring, safety-critical failures in a 2021 Nissan Kicks, including the catastrophic loss of steering function while driving. The core issue is assessed to be a malfunctioning Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL). This failure causes the steering wheel to jam/lock, intermittent no-start conditions, and electrical inconsistencies (random brake light/lack of diagnostic codes). These failures are beyond the driver's control, unpredictable, and create an extreme safety hazard, rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? My 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe (VIN [XXX] ) has experienced repeated failures in the high-voltage hybrid electrical system, including “Service Hybrid System” warnings, failure to hold charge, and loss of EV function. It has also experienced a dangerous front steering damper failure at highway
... speed. All components remain available for inspection upon request, and the vehicle is still in my possession. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The hybrid system failures have caused repeated drivability issues, unpredictable power delivery, and warnings advising me not to operate or charge the vehicle due to potential battery-related safety risks. More critically, the steering damper failed abruptly at approximately 75 mph, causing severe front-end instability, vibration, and momentary difficulty maintaining directional control. This failure created an immediate risk of a loss-of-control crash on the highway. Being instructed not to charge the vehicle for months due to safety recalls also indicates a high-voltage battery safety risk that could endanger me, my passengers, and others. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Multiple dealerships have documented hybrid-system faults, charging restrictions, and recall-related battery concerns. The “Service Hybrid System” fault has been observed and documented by authorized Jeep/Chrysler service centers. The steering damper failure was documented during service shortly after the highway incident, and the dealer confirmed the part had failed unexpectedly despite passing inspection less than 1,000 miles earlier. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The defects have been repeatedly inspected and documented by Jeep/Stellantis dealerships. Stellantis has been notified directly INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATIONRead more

When using cruise control (traffic aware cruise control and autosteer) the car acts dangerously and stops for no reason. There is a button on the top of the steering wheel that puts the car in low gear. We have been going down the interstate twice and my husband accidentally hit the button slowing down the car immediately. This is very dangerous and could cause a rear end collision. We have reported it to Chevrolet several times, to the service department twice and the corporation also. Low gear has normally been
... on the gear shift with all the other gears, but for some reason, they put it on the top left side of the steering wheel. That is a very strange place to have that since the steering wheel also has buttons for cruise control, Bluetooth, stereo, etc. We think this button needs to be disengaged and put else where, but Chevrolet offered us $150 for the inconvenience. We are not concerned with convenience, but with safety. Also, the vertical buttons on the dash below the navigation screen are not visible during the day. At night, when it is dark, the light illuminate the buttons so they can be seen, but they are not visible during the day. However, you do need to be able to see the buttons. My husband used a label maker to put the names on the buttons just to prevent a wreck, but Chevrolet needs to address the issue. I am reporting a major safety defect that began immediately after Tesla installed the Full Self-Driving (FSD) hardware upgrade on my vehicle. After paying $2,000 for FSD and receiving the hardware retrofit, the car now instantly veers left toward oncoming traffic whenever FSD is engaged. This began immediately after Tesla’s installation. Before this service, my vehicle operated safely. I have
... contacted Tesla Cherry Hill Service Center in New Jersey multiple times. The advisors there repeatedly told me to “just recalibrate the cameras from the touchscreen.” I’ve done this numerous times, following every instruction carefully, but the issue persists. When I called the Service Center, I was told that “everything looks fine remotely,” even though the problem continues and is clearly dangerous. I was also told they could take it for a test drive, but that if they couldn’t find anything, I would have to “wait for a future update” to make FSD usable. This is unacceptable and unsafe. Tesla delivered this car to me in a dangerous condition that could easily cause a serious crash. A car that steers itself into oncoming traffic under FSD control should never have been returned to a customer — especially one new to using FSD. I should not be responsible for any repairs, recalibrations, or diagnostics related to a defect introduced by Tesla. This issue appears to be the direct result of improper installation, misalignment, or faulty calibration following the FSD hardware upgrade performed by Tesla Cherry Hill. This poses a severe risk of collision and injury, and Tesla’s refusal to take responsibility or correct it under warranty demonstrates clear negligence and disregard for safety. Tesla Cherry Hill is also known for poor customer service and repeated dismissal of safety complaints from other owners, which further concerns me.Read more

I was near an exit, and as I slowed to leave the interstate, at 30-35 mph the steering began to work normally. I did not have the issue investigated. Two days ago while going to work, and descending a mountain which h
... ad numerous sharp curves the power steering failed again. I was traveling around 40 mph, and the vehicle was extremely difficult to steer. As I reduced speed to about 25mph the steering resumed normal operation. I was making a 90 degree downhill turn when this event occurred. I almost departed the road on a steep drop off. Had my wife been driving I do not think she would have possessed enough strength to keep from going off the road. I had the vehicle checked, by a mechanic and there were no codes or anomalies detected. I am a certified Airframe and Powerplant mechanic, as well as an Aviation Safety Inspector. This issue with my Jeep is an accident waiting to happen. There are a significant number of complaints for this same issue. NHTSA needs to address this issue.Read more

I was driving in the highway and my steering became so stiff that I could barely turn the wheel. It wasn’t just stiff, It was almost impossible to make a turn unless I use all my strength and turn the wheel with both of my hands. . It made me pull over the car and get it towed to the dealership. This was very dangerous because I couldn’t react to oncoming traffic or make regular turns on the s
... treet safely. There is no way people should be driving these cars if the power steering can go down with no warning. I could’ve hit somebody and caused a major accident on the highway. This needs to be recalled.Read more

My Honda is having strange, intermittent issues with a plethora of things. I have taken it to a diagnostic specialist who worked with a phone mechanic and noone can tell me what is going on. My car will fully shut off at stop lights randomly, so I have to turn off the auto-idle feature every time I drive. Sometimes my power steering cuts out and my wheel locks and unlocks and my computer screen
... shuts off when this happens. I have to shut off and start my car for it to work again. Other times, all of my automated safety features stop and I get a huge slew of messages telling me that my lane assist, automatic hill braking, and a ton of other automatic safety features don't work. My car can't lane assist, do adaptive cruise control, use the backup camera, or anything. It goes away if I stop and restart my car a bunch. I also had a seatbelt alarm that was going off repeatedly with no reason. The dealership turned off the alarm. I am having a lot of issues with this car that makes me question if it is a lemon. I see other new Pilot owners mentioning issues with power steering shutting off and it's a huge safety risk. Noone knows whats wrong or how to fix it so what do I do? This happens intermittently, randomly, and recurrently since June.Read more
