I bought a fairly used 2024 Mazda on December 19, 2025 from a Mazda dealership and immediately noticed that there was some resistance with turning the steering wheel. I mentioned it to the sales person and was told that it was how the car operated. After purchasing the car, the problem kept persisting in many ways while on the freeway or when making turns. The steering will try to self correct wit
... h sudden jerks that manifest a violent pull against my efforts to keep the car on the road or the correct lane. I immediately took the car to a Mazda dealership by my house and they couldn't identify an issue with the lane changing sensor. They did however recommend I get new tires but I decided to get a second mechanical opinion by taking it to the Mazda dealership where I purchased the car. They also could not identify any issues or an ongoing steering recall, but recommended getting a new set of tires for a car that I had just purchased from them a couple of weeks earlier. Following my frustration, I decided to do some research on the Mazda CX-90 and that's when I came across the steering wheel recall 24V022. I told them about the recall and they could not find it under the VIN #. I called Mazda (The Company) and they could not also locate that recall using my VIN #. I pressed them to look closely and Mazda (The Company) finally established that my car was part of the recall under the batch number 6524A. I went back to the dealership where I had bought the car and provided them with the batch number and they were able to establish the recall for my car after haven refuted my claim. I mention this because it is VERY likely that other Mazda CX90s with similar issues may not have this recall show up under the car VIN #s, unless owners take the initiative to contact Mazda (The Company) directly. The dealership also told me that my recall was closed but they could not provide any proof of what remedial work that was done under the recall.Read more

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The steering system failed due to corrosion and water ingress affecting both the steering rack and the associated steering wiring harness. These components were replaced by Tesla and are no longer available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The steering syste
... m is a safety-critical component. Corrosion and water intrusion created a risk of reduced or sudden loss of steering assist while driving, which could lead to loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Tesla service confirmed water ingress and corrosion affecting the steering rack and wiring harness and performed a full replacement of both components. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes. The vehicle and steering components were inspected by Tesla at a Tesla Service Center, which identified water ingress and corrosion as the cause of failure. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The vehicle displayed steering-related warning messages prior to repair, including reduced steering assist alerts, which prompted inspection by Tesla service. The vehicle exhibits a severe vibration and shaking at normal highway speeds, most notably around 70–80 mph. The condition is repeatable and occurs during steady freeway driving. The vibration is strong enough that the vehicle feels unstable and unsafe to operate at typical highway speeds. This condition significantly affects safe freeway operation. Due to the severity of the shaking, I no long

The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by authorized dealerships. Multiple inspections and repair attempts have been performed over several months for the same vibration concern. Major drivetrain components, including the rear differential and driveshaft, were replaced, but the vibration remains unresolved. The servicing dealer has stated they do not have a further diagnostic path and are unable to continue addressing the issue. The issue has been ongoing since approximately November 2024 and has not been resolved despite repeated service visits. No warning lights or messages are present. The vibration is speed-dependent rather than engine-speed-dependent. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request.Read more

For approximately two weeks, this vehicle exhibited intermittent, uncommanded steering wheel "tugs" and erratic Lane Keeping Assist behavior. During a U-turn on 1/25/2026, the vehicle struck a curb. While I cannot definitively isolate driver input from system input during the maneuver, the vehicle immediately entered a "fail-safe" state, triggering a cascade of specific error codes: Electronic Sta
... bility Control (ESC) Fault, Front AEB Unavailable, Highway Assist Inoperative, and Intelligent Speed Adaptation Inoperative. These errors are directly tied to the ADAS/ADCU systems currently under NHTSA Recall 25V559, which identifies a defect where the system provides "sudden steering inputs that are difficult for the driver to override" during turns. The dealership VinFast Lisle is acknowledging these recall-related errors are present but is refusing to cover the resulting physical damage, quoting a repair cost of over $2,100 + taxes. I am reporting this because the manufacturer should not be able to dismiss a collision that occurs while a vehicle is actively suffering from a known, federally-recalled steering defect. I request that the NHTSA investigate whether this hardware damage is a consequence of the software failure.Read more

The Original Equipment (OE) Bridgestone Alenza Sport A/S 255/50R20 105H M+S tires on my brand new 2024 Nissan Pathfinder suffer from groove wander on roads in which grooves are cut into them to mitigate hydroplaning in rainy conditions. The geometric design, tread design incompatibility, or structural irregularities of these tires cause severe groove wander and impair safe handling. I believe th
... ere is a mismatch between the tire design and the vehicle's weight or suspension design - Nissan should not be placing this OE tire on new Pathfinders. Groove wander causes the vehicle to follow road grooves involuntarily, which is a handling defect that compromise driver control. This condition is a safety hazard, especially at highway and interstate speeds or in inclement weather. Groove wander does not allow the vehicle to operate safely, causing the driver to constantly correct the involuntary path of the vehicle on such roads. The driver's and others' safety are at risk if the driver is unable to quickly correct the path of the vehicle and keep the vehicle in the lane of traffic to avoid lane departure into another vehicle or object. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by both the Nissan dealer from I bought the vehicle and a local Bridgestone/Firestone service center because both are unwilling to do so. Both have refused to accompany me on a test drive on Interstate 90 where this occurs because this road is approximately 12 miles one way from their locations (their claim it is too far away; if it was only 5 miles, they would be willing to do this). The tires have been visually inspected by both companies, and naturally both have found nothing wrong with the tires (normal wear at this time). Visually inspecting he tires will not diagnose the issue, and a test ride needs to be completed to document this issue - again both Nissan and Bridgestone refuse to do this. Other brand tires on other vehicles I own do not suffer groove wander.Read more

While my car itself is available for inspection, you would need to contact BMW of Sterling to determine if the parts that were replaced are available for inspection. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? With the steering wheel extremely difficult to turn, any precise, time-critical maneuvers to avoid collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, etc. was significantly compromised. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? BMW of Sterling personnel confirmed the issue when my car was dropped off for repair. Service diagnostics also confirmed the failure. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? My car was inspected only by BMW of Sterling personnel. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Me and my [XXX] old was driving on the highway in my 2009 Ford escape and suddenly my power steering completely went out with no warning. I was driving 60 mph because that's my safe speed. Steering got completely resistant to the point I could not turn my steering wheel almost crashing into another vehicle with a child in the vehicle. I found out that Ford has had power steering issues with almos
... t all their vehicles due to their electrical power steering system. My vehicle was inspected by a independent service center that confirmed that Ford's electrical power steering is not safe because it can disable while driving, however I called to see if Ford could inspect the issue complimentary, they declined and said it would cost. Not knowing that as a consumer, that is extremely terrifying to know that while driving I'm at a high risk of an accident. I also called Ford to see about a recall because I was informed Ford had multiple recalls for their electrical power steering in most of their Ford Escapes, but there was none for mine. The Ford service worker i spoke to, infact, volunteered to inform me that all Ford Escapes from 2008-2012 should be recalled due to the electrical power steering issues. Once I got home turned my vehicle off and the next morning started my vehicle up to show my husband the power steering issue, 24 hrs later a Warning came on saying power steering assist fault. With that warning coming on after the fact, 24 hours later, without that warning could have ended fatal. This is not a situation that should be handled lightly because it can end fatal, and with no warning that these vehicles power steering can disable while driving there's no telling how many accidents have ended fatal already because of this very issue.
