While driving my 2015 Ram 1500, I was exiting the freeway and attempting to merge into traffic when the electric power steering system appeared to fail or malfunction. The steering suddenly became very stiff, and I struggled to turn the steering wheel while trying to safely merge. Shortly after the steering became difficult to control, the power steering warning light came on. This created a safe
... ty concern because I was actively merging into traffic and had reduced ability to steer the vehicle. The sudden loss of power steering assist increased the risk of a crash with surrounding vehicles, especially because the failure occurred during a traffic maneuver. The vehicle and power steering system are available for inspection upon request. At this time, it is UNKNOWN whether the problem has been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. It is also UNKNOWN whether the vehicle or component has been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others. Prior to the incident, the power steering appeared to operate normally. The warning lamp came on after the steering became stiff. The problem appears to be intermittent, as the steering may work after the vehicle sits overnight, but the warning light and steering issue return after driving for a period of time. Based on my assessment, the issue may involve the electric power steering system, EPS control module, wiring, fuse/fusible link, or related steering assist component, but the exact cause is currently UNKNOWN.Read more

During normal driving in rainy conditions, I experienced a sudden and unexpected loss of vehicle control involving steering behavior. At the time of the incident, the lane-keeping/driver-assist system was active, and I had both hands on the steering wheel while actively controlling the vehicle. Without any prior warning lights, dashboard messages, or alerts, the vehicle suddenly began to behave ab
... normally and unexpectedly pulled/dragged. I experienced a sudden loss of effective steering control and was unable to fully correct or regain control of the vehicle before a collision occurred. The incident happened abruptly without any gradual warning or system notification. Road conditions were wet due to rain, but there was no prior indication of mechanical or electronic malfunction before the event. Following the crash, the vehicle was declared a total loss by insurance. There are no open recalls listed for my VIN at this time. I am reporting this incident due to the sudden steering/control behavior and potential safety concern.Read more

While driving the vehicle on a long straight road the steering would bind while driving straight. When moving the steering wheel to make any slight adjustments it'd stick and force me to over or understeer left or right of center making the vehicle very unsafe to drive and hold a straight course on the highway. I've only noticed this happening at highway speeds. It was very scary to drive because
... it'd happen every 10 to 15 seconds while trying to get it into a center position(which was impossible) on a very straight road causing the vehicle to essentially be swerving from one side of the lane to the other for the last couple of hours of a 3+ hour drive. I hope Honda does the right thing in recognizing how dangerous an issue this is and doesn't wait until too many people die or have accidents due this common vehicle issue preventing it from being able to be driven straight.Read more

On [XXX], my 2017 Land Rover Range Rover HSE Td6 diesel (VIN: [XXX] ) suffered a complete, catastrophic engine failure without warning at approximately 70 mph on [XXX] . My wife and our two infant sons (ages [XXX] and [XXX] ) were passengers. There were no prior warning lights or symptoms. The engine stopped instantaneously, eliminating power steering and power brakes while I was overtaking a sem
... i-truck in the passing lane. We narrowly reached the shoulder safely. The odometer read 79,018 miles — inside both limits of the federally mandated 8-year/80,000-mile emissions warranty under 40 CFR §85.2103. The vehicle was 7 years old at time of failure. Hoehn Land Rover Carlsbad diagnosed complete engine failure caused by timing chain guide failure — a known defect pattern in the Ingenium diesel engine. The service manager stated failures like this "aren't that rare" with these engines. Repair estimate: $28,000–$30,000. Jaguar Land Rover North America (Case #[XXX]) denied the warranty claim entirely, offering $800, without ever evaluating the claim under the active federal emissions warranty. Their denial cited only the expired extended CPO warranty and a maintenance gap — neither of which constitutes valid grounds for denying an emissions warranty claim under 40 CFR §85.2103(d), as the manufacturer cannot demonstrate the maintenance gap caused a documented design defect. This failure pattern is documented in JLR Technical Service Bulletins LTB00735 and SSM74184. Land Rover Korea issued a recall for the same timing chain failure in 2020. No equivalent recall was issued in the United States for identical vehicles with identical engines. JLR has refused all requests for review or reconsideration for 24 months. While driving a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid Titanium (approximately 157,000 miles), the Electronic Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) system suddenly failed without warning during heavy rain in Philadelphia, PA. I was driving near the riverfront area by [XXX] when the steering immediately became extremely stiff and difficult to turn. No prior warning lights or steering-related symptoms were present befor
... e the failure. Due to wet road conditions and the sudden loss of steering assist, I temporarily lost the ability to maneuver the vehicle normally and nearly collided with roadside structures near the river. Considerable physical force was required to maintain directional control and safely move the vehicle. This created an immediate safety hazard to myself and nearby traffic. The vehicle has not been involved in a crash, but the failure created a near-miss situation. The vehicle's power steering does not work properly, especially at slow speeds and when attempting to back up. However, it has also failed while traveling on the interstate highway at high speeds. When you attempt to make a turn, the power steering feels like it is fighting you and wants to pull the vehicle back in the opposite direction. I took the vehicle in to be serviced, and they replaced
... the battery which removed previous warning messages. On two occasions, while traveling at slow speeds and making a turn into a shopping center parking lot, the vehicle resisted my attempt to make the turn such that had a car been coming out of the parking lot, rather than complete the turn, I would have run directly into the side of the other vehicle. While travelling on the interstate at 70 mph, I momentarily lost steering and had there been vehicles behind or beside me at the time, I believe it would have resulted in an accident. I own a 2023 Toyota Tundra that is part of the major engine recall due to machining debris in the 3.4L V6 engine. A few days prior to the failure, I called the dealership to raise concerns that the acceleration was starting to not act right. Despite this, while driving at 70 mph on the highway yesterday (May 22, 2026), the engine suddenly failed and died without any prior warning, it is my belief
... that this is due to the open recall. This created a very dangerous situation as I was traveling at highway speed and could have been rear-ended or lost control of the vehicle. The truck had to be towed to the dealership. The truck now has 33,000 miles. I purchased it used for $49,000 with only 11,000 miles. This is the same known defect Toyota has issued a recall for, yet my engine still failed catastrophically. I am extremely concerned that this failure has caused additional damage to the transmission, drivetrain, or other components. I have completely lost confidence in the safety and reliability of this vehicle. Even after the planned engine replacement, I do not feel safe driving it due to the risk of future failure and the known history of this defect. I am requesting that Toyota provide a full buyback or replacement because this sudden engine failure at highway speeds poses a serious safety risk. Steering randomly will fail to return to center in turns, causing the driver to have to manually turn wheel back to center. Happens in both sharp and sweeping turns in both the left and right direction while accelerating, decelerating, and maintaining speed. Issue occurs several times a week. I nearly hit an oncoming car head-on in a very gentle sweeping left hand turn on May 10th when my Bolt
... continued turning left rather than re-center when I stopped giving it left steering input. I was going about 35 and decelerating gently for a stop sign at a T intersection at the bottom of a mild downhill slope of 5 to 10 degrees. The car I nearly hit was approaching in the opposite lane on the inside of the curve. When the left hand curve straightened out, my steering wheel (and wheels) did not return to center. My car continued across the yellow double lines. I had to quickly jerk the wheel to the right to avoid a collision. *I had to physically return the wheel to center through manual input to get my car to drive in a straight line.* I narrowly avoided a head-on collision. There was no advance warning. Having the steering randomly behave unexpectedly and in direct opposition of the vehicle's design, and *every* other vehicle's design is very dangerous. This is a known issue across many, many Bolts. Replacing the steering rack/column for this known safety issue on all generations of the Chevrolet Bolt is an expensive repair. Please investigate and issue a safety recall and force GM to correct this known safety defect that they should have already voluntarily recalled.Read more

A major drivetrain service and repair was completed by an authorized manufacturer dealership. After picking up the vehicle, an unusual front-end/steering noise was immediately reported to the staff. Over just 390 miles of driving, the symptom worsened. A subsequent formal inspection by a separate, independent authorized service center confirmed the root cause of the safety failure: the primary axl
... e nut had been left completely unstaked during the initial drivetrain assembly, rendering the vehicle entirely unsafe to operate. The vehicle was grounded to prevent an accident. Because the mandatory safety protocol of staking the axle nut was omitted, the critical fastening hardware was allowed to back off under normal driving conditions. This component failure directly compromised the structural integrity of the front drivetrain, steering knuckle, and wheel hub assembly. Had the vehicle continued to be driven, the omission presented an imminent risk of complete mechanical separation, which could cause a wheel assembly to detach or lock up while in motion at high speeds, putting the safety of the occupants and other motorists at extreme risk. The vehicle remains grounded and is available for inspection. The safety-critical assembly failure has been fully documented by the inspecting service center via technical video (available upon request) and photographic evidence. The manufacturer has been notified of the dealer workmanship defect but has failed to authorize corrective action or safe transport of the vehicle to a certified facility for remediation.Read more

While driving, a critical heavy-duty front lower control arm / lateral link bolt completely detached from my vehicle and was found intact on the ground with factory green threadlocker still visible on the threads. The undercarriage and chassis show absolutely ZERO signs of external impact, scrape, or road hazard damage. This structural failure caused an immediate, severe safety hazard, rendering t
... he vehicle completely unsafe to drive due to a catastrophic risk of wheel separation and total loss of steering control. This exact component failure is identical to Tesla's historical safety recalls, specifically NHTSA Recall Campaign Number 21V835000 and its expansions, which explicitly state: "the front suspension lateral link bolts may not have been secured to the correct specifications... causing the fasteners to loosen over time and separate from the sub-frame." Because the bolt loosened and fell out over time due to insufficient factory torque, the loose component put uneven mechanical stress on the lower control arm, resulting in the complete failure and damage of the control arm assembly. Tesla Service Center has refused to honor this as a latent manufacturing defect, hiding behind warranty expiration. They have unconscionably misclassified a known, life-threatening production defect as standard "wear and tear," forcing me to pay a $265 diagnostic fee and the full cost of a complete control arm replacement under protest. I am filing this report because Tesla is actively endangering consumers by failing to expand their suspension fastener recall to cover vehicles experiencing the exact same catastrophic manufacturing defect outside the arbitrary warranty period. The lake keep assist safety feature works inconsistently. Many times, the system has allowed my vehicle to cross the yellow or white lines, when it shouldn't have. Even worse, during wintertime, the vehicle gets confused as to what is road and what is not, jerking the vehicle in directions that it shouldn't be going (either off the road, or into incoming traffic). This is quite a violent jerk, so,
... unless the steering wheel is held steady with significant force, it could cause the vehicle to depart from the intended driving lane. Moreover, when there is snow on the road, the violent jerks can actually send the vehicle into an uncontrollably spin! This feature could be a way to make driving safer, but when you expect it to work, and it doesn't, driving can actually be more unsafe than if the system didn't exist to begin with. And when it does activate when it is not supposed to, it could actually perform actions opposite to the intended function. The previous Santa Cruz that I had (MY2023) had the same feature, but it actually worked all of the time unless there were no lines on the road. Even then, it still worked most of the time.Read more

No power steering hard to turn left and right
Incident date: Dec 5, 2025
Power steering starts leaking in cold climates resulting in tightness and difficulty in steering wheel . recall code s08
Incident date: May 19, 2026
Component: power steering (gearbox) Safety at Risk: steering wheel would not turn properly (excessive sticking) especially high speed. Reproduced/Confirmed by Honda dealer: YES Vehicle/Component inspected: YES and replaced by Ed Morse Honda, Riviera Beach, FL Prior Warning: NO (gradually got worse over approximately three month period)
Incident date: Apr 26, 2026
Positions during small steering corrections, especially at highway speeds and during straight-line driving. Condition feels like temporary increased steering effort or intermittent reduction of electric power steering assist. Additional force is required to move the steering wheel past the sticking point 11 o'clock or 1 o'clock. Once resistance releases, steering may suddenly move farther than in
... tended, causing brief overcorrection or oversteer. Issue occurs repeatedly during lane correction maneuvers and creates a safety concern because steering input is not smooth, consistent, or predictable. Problem appears to be worsening over time. No warning lights were present when symptom occurred. Vehicle mileage at onset: 80,000. Current mileage: 82,500. This complaint appears related to NHTSA investigation PE25009 involving sticky steering and increased steering effort in 2017–2018 Chrysler Pacifica vehicles.Read more
