My 2023 Ford Explorer (VIN: [XXX] ) has a persistent front suspension clunk/rattle/knock when driving over small bumps or uneven pavement at low speeds (8–20 mph). The noise is repeatable and has progressively worsened. It matches the condition described in Ford Special Service Message SSM 52405, which identifies a manufacturing defect involving a loose internal pressure tube inside the front st
... rut assembly on 2023 Explorers built between December 1, 2022 and August 31, 2023. My vehicle falls inside this build range. This defect affects vehicle stability, steering control, and suspension performance over bumps and uneven surfaces. The internal looseness in the strut assembly creates unpredictable handling characteristics, which is a safety issue. Multiple owners have reported the same symptoms, and Ford has not issued a recall. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect and Ford’s handling of repairs, as owners are being asked to pay out‑of‑pocket for repairs related to a known manufacturing defect that affects safe vehicle operation. Around 20,000 miles my car began having faint metallic clanking/clicking sounds turning left and recoiling back to the left under 15 miles an hour and while parked. My lane mitigation, see dealer light turned on for 5 minutes while backing in to a spot then turned off. No issues steering just noise. Glad I am not deaf and I know better because it was a very easy and quiet noise to ignore or miss.
... My steering is fine now but does not steer as thin and smoothly as before— not like any Honda steering I’ve encountered or when I first bough the car. Feels more stiff now but very drivable on the highway Although repaired under warranty, there are hundreds of Facebook, Reddit, and even NHSTA complaints of steering rack issues for 11th gen accords that have fallen on deaf ears. I am fortunate to have my problem fixed in a relatively quick manner and helpful Honda staff. I am concerned because I hear people complaining this problem coming back after 4-10k miles later. This is a major safety issue in the principle of it all. It is ridiculous that Type Rs and Acuras can get recalled steering racks but not Accord hybrid owners, some waiting 0-5 years for a steering rack recall while owners having to change them out like clockwork on their own dime outside of 36/36k. This is costing people money in tire degradation that Honda doesn't cover, mental stress, and it tarnishes the name of Honda if they don’t actively work to fix their mistake. NHTSA should have a duty to put pressure on Honda to stop producing Accords, Pilots, Type Rs, Acuras, Odysseys, etc with steering racks that don't work. Email me if you want service records, its not letting me load them. Steering rack and gear replaced recheck fine. Clock reel was making noise, cable reel was replaced and no more noise. Front tires are at 4/32nds, backs are at 6/32nds— bought at same time with car. 4 wheel total alignment was done. I have video of the clicking sound.Read more

While my vehicle was at an authorized Hyundai dealership for engine warranty repair, I reported a suspension grinding noise and requested that it be inspected. This concern was raised while the vehicle was in the dealership’s possession and was communicated as a safety concern. The engine repair was completed and the vehicle was returned to me. No inspection findings, documentation, or technici
... an notes were provided addressing the suspension concern. The repair documentation I later received does not include any reference to the suspension issue or any inspection findings related to that concern. The dealership has also confirmed that no additional documentation exists beyond the repair order. After the vehicle was returned, warning lights appeared that were not present prior to the repair. A suspension grinding noise may indicate issues affecting steering, suspension, or vehicle stability. I am concerned that the vehicle was released without inspection or documentation of a reported safety related condition.Read more

STEERING: 2025 Honda CRV steering became "sticky" when veering left, making it difficult to maneuver back to center and the steering could feel a bit jumpy. There were also faint clicks when driving in circles to the left. The VIN was not listed under the current recall number 24V-744 so we brought it to the dealer to see if it was under warranty. The sticky steering only happens after driving the
... car for a little while, so we weren't able to replicate it for the dealer 12 miles away. However, they took a look at the steering components and told us that it was a "fluke" that the car had made it through assembly inspections because it should have failed and never been sold. We had the car safety checked before leaving for a trip where we'd be driving along steep, winding cliffs with sharp switchbacks and they said we were in good shape. Now they were telling us we were "lucky we didn't hit a pothole" and make it even worse and careen off a cliff. We put about 10k miles on that trip not knowing the danger we were in the whole time. They claim they fixed it by installing a brand new Honda Power Steering Rack, part number 53620-3A0-A33. We've heard that others just end up with the same issues in another 5-7k miles, so we're not feeling confident. AUTOMATIC SAFETY BREAKING: We get several phantom warning alarms and flashing, full screen messages telling us to "BRAKE!" while driving when nothing is there. Usually when there's any kind of flickering sunlight or sunlight through trees, which is everywhere. We can only disable it by turning it off EVERY single time we turn on the car and by going through several menus to get to the feature. We should be able to turn this off completely, not each time. We've twice had it pump the breaks and it's a frightening situation, even at slow speeds, because we could get rear ended. Dealer said, "Yeah...that's how it works. Mine does it too."Read more

The steering wheel sticks in a slight right and left turns (from about the 11:00 or 1:00 position) when I straighten out the wheel. It does it on highway on and exit ramps, during passing maneuvers and any slight right or left bends in the road. There are no unusual noises associated with this. During these gradual curves the wheel will not self-center to return to straight ahead. Extra force is r
... equired to force the steering to respond resulting in the car jerking right or left. This is unexpected and very scary when it first happens because I feel I've temporarily lost control of the steering. My passengers are alarmed as the car is jerked to the side at highway speeds wondering why I'm jerking the car so violently while performing a gradual turn or passing another vehicle. It seems to happen more on long drives (2 to 3 hours) and not so much on short drives. It almost feels temperature related as I don't notice this behavior on short drives around town but mostly at higher speeds on expressways. This has been occurring over the last several years but only noticeable on long road trips.Read more

I am submitting a formal safety complaint regarding my 2017 Honda Civic, which is experiencing a serious steering issue that appears to be consistent with a known defect currently under recall for similar vehicles. When driving at speeds above approximately 40 mph, the steering wheel becomes noticeably “sticky” or resistant, making it difficult to maintain smooth and controlled steering. This
... condition creates a safety concern, particularly at highway speeds, as it affects the vehicle’s responsiveness and handling. I understand that there is an existing recall related to steering issues affecting certain Honda Civic models. However, my vehicle’s VIN is not currently included in the recall population, despite exhibiting the same symptoms described in those cases. Given that this appears to be a widespread and documented issue, I believe my vehicle may also be affected by the same underlying defect. I am concerned that I have to pay out of pocket for a repair that is directly related to a known safety issue already acknowledged in other vehicles of the same make and model. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this matter, investigate whether the recall scope should be expanded, and take appropriate action to ensure all affected vehicles are covered. I am happy to provide additional details, including my VIN, maintenance records, or further documentation upon request. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. On January 1, 2025, I discovered my vehicle had been stolen after finding broken glass in my driveway and immediately reported the incident to the police, who arrived within approximately 20 minutes; neighbors later provided camera footage of the theft, and I also observed other nearby vehicles with similar damage, including a broken rear window and another Hyundai Elantra that appeared abandoned.
... The following day, police informed me the vehicle had been recovered, and upon inspection I found the rear driver-side window completely broken and the ignition area under the steering wheel damaged. Couple months later I received a recall notice for the antitheft system on my 2020 Hyundai Elantra (VIN [XXX] ). When I brought the vehicle to the dealership on April 1, 2026, I was informed that the recall cannot be completed unless an additional part is replaced, at a cost of approximately $1,178. This part was damaged during a prior theft incident. My vehicle was stolen last year and later recovered, and it sustained damage during that incident. However, I understand that safety recalls are required to be repaired at no cost to the owner under federal law. I am concerned that I am being asked to pay for repairs in order to complete a safety recall, and that my vehicle remains vulnerable without the recall remedy being performed. I am also concerned about the safety and legal compliance of continuing to operate the vehicle under these conditions. I am attaching supporting documents as proof of the vehicle theft, along with the reports provided by the dealer. I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue with my Ram 1500. The vehicle has experienced multiple incidents of complete power loss while driving, including at highway speeds. During these events, the vehicle abruptly shuts down without warning. The dashboard lights illuminate (including the battery and check engine lights), followed by total electrical failure. The engine turns off, the rad
... io and displays go dark, and I lose power steering and braking assist, then the emergency brake engages, making the vehicle extremely difficult to control. These incidents have occurred more than once and are unpredictable. In at least one instance, I was forced to pull over on the highway after the vehicle lost all power while in motion. The loss of steering and braking assistance created a dangerous situation, especially as I have had my children in the vehicle. After one incident, the vehicle was jump-started and the battery was replaced; however, the issue recurred. A mechanic previously reported that no diagnostic codes were found and no problem could be identified, despite the severity of the failure. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for further evaluation. This issue appears consistent with other reports of Ram 1500 vehicles experiencing sudden loss of motive power and electrical failure. The intermittent nature of the defect and lack of diagnostic codes make it difficult to detect, increasing the safety risk. I do not feel safe operating this vehicle, as it can shut down without warning while driving. I am requesting further investigation into this issue due to the significant risk of crash or injury.Read more

Vehicle Information: Year/Make/Model: 2024 Dodge Hornet GT Purchase Date: 12/21/2023 Current Mileage: 41,166 History of Failure: The vehicle has experienced five distinct instances of total power loss, resulting in the immediate loss of power steering and braking assistance while in motion. These incidents occurred on the following dates: January 10, 2024 May 2024 October 19, 2024 – November 21, 2024 (Out of service for 33 days) November 24, 2024 (Out of service for an additional 7 days) March 29, 2026 – Present (Currently in shop; no status update or loaner provided) Safety Concern: These malfunctions are not minor mechanical inconveniences; they represent a "Nonconformity" that substantially impairs the safety and use of the vehicle. Operating a vehicle that may lose steering and braking power at any moment places me at imminent risk of bodily injury or death. Demand: Despite my exhaustive documentation—including photos, email history, and towing records—both the dealership and the manufacturer have failed to provide a permanent repair or adequate support. 2022 Rivian R1T, VIN [XXX] . Recurring suspension defects since delivery June 2022, documented across 18 service visits over 3.5 years. On July 11, 2025, El Segundo service center [XXX] ) repaired the front end lowering in standard parking mode — causing the vehic
... le to sit unlevel and knock the tires out of alignment when driving off. They repaired the suspension and corrected the alignment. In August 2025 a related defect appeared: when exiting camp leveling mode, the vehicle does not return to drive height. Instead it behaves as though still entering camp mode, forcing a slow drive-away during which the vehicle behaves erratically, knocking tires out of alignment — the same mechanism as the July parking mode issue. I reported this to Rivian in fall 2025. Despite scheduling three appointments — January 21, February 10, and March 14, 2026 — El Segundo failed to complete service all three times due to inability to provide a promised loaner vehicle. Suspension unserviced since July 11, 2025 — 9 months. On March 31, 2026 I filmed the front end lowering in parking mode recurring — same defect supposedly repaired July 2025. Vehicle self-leveled when I manually raised the suspension, but recurrence after a Rivian repair attempt is a safety concern. Video dated March 31, 2026 available. Service appointment also deleted from Rivian app March 14, 2026 including active recall remedies FSAM-1795 and FSAM-1794 — addressed in separately filed NHTSA complaint. My SUV pulls hard to the right when braking at speeds above 50 mph and much more on the interstates at 65 mph and above. I first experienced this after three weeks of ownership on a drive up I-95 on a trip to NC. It has happened numerous times while traveling on the interstates and has almost caused loss of control when having to brake hard when cut off by another driver or traffic suddenly coming
... to a stop. The vehicle has been to the service department numerous times....at first they suspected a braking issue and have had both calipers replaced, all brake lines replaced, lower control arms replaced and the right side strut replaced. None of these repairs have solved the problem. The factory service rep who took over the situation tested 3 other GMC 2025 Terrain suvs and all had the same problem. He reported the issue on a safety report to GM in Michigan and the response from GM was that it is a normal condition for the Terrain models. At approximately 148,000 miles the steering would have an intermittent notchy, or sticky, feeling while driving straight. While driving straight at cruising speed, I noticed that the resistance on the left side of the steering wheel was greater than the right side, then the resistance would decrease suddenly (release), and the steering wheel would rotate slightly to the right, but less than 1 de
... gree, so it would be hardly noticeable on video. The issue seems to only present itself after the vehicle is driven 20-40 minutes and when the temperature is 47 degrees or higher. I have noticed it at low speed (15-20mph) and at highway speeds. If I recall correctly, the issue first presented itself when we had our first 60 degree day and I was driving on the highway with the wheel straight. Then as I accumulated miles throughout the weeks, I would notice that it didn't happen on colder days but then happened more often on warmer days. Now that the vehicle has ~148,800 miles on it, and the air temperature is 67 degrees, the issue presented itself this morning (4/1/2026) after 3 minutes of driving and during the first sweeping left turn on my commute and at approximately 40 mph. Then the issue continued to happen throughout the drive, eventually becoming nearly constant by the end of the 45-minute commute. My vehicle sat in the shop for a month to get my OnStar safety equipment repaired. I also had arguments with them regarding the oil light coming on and it burning excessive amounts of oil. I was told this was normal. I know better. Also, I needed to get it back into the shop for
... service and inspection for a squeeling noise under the hood. And to have them check the oul consumption. I was told it idle too often, and this was the reason oil was dissapearing. I was told they would put me on the loaner list so I could have means to get to my oncologist for cancer care. Well, I called numerous times because they never furnished a loaner for these issues I was told a third, then forth time I was next in line for a loaner so I could drop it off for repairs and recall work. After 8 months of these lies I finally went to Monument Chevrolet. Beck and Masten never intended to help me. Total I had tried and was told by newer service advisors, the manager, and GMC this would be remedied over 10 times in over 6 months. I finally gave up and moved on to never return to this dealer I had purchased two brand new GMC 1500 trucks from in a two year time frame. I did get my OnStar gateway repaired by replacement. It had stopped working again, shortly after getting it back. I kept getting put off. They stated it needed another Gateway for OnStar. I kept calling, and was told they would contact me ince it came in. I ended up troubleshooting the entire modem/router assy. I found inconsitant configuration parametrs. So, I reconfigured it all from start to finish after clearing the memory by taking battery cables off and allowing it to power down and clear memory. Then I did perform a reconfiguration and username/password change as well. I repaired it myself. The Onstar has never acted up again. These were my first issues. I had to take it to Monument Chevrolet for serviceRead more

I have replaced several sets of tires with this Tesla Model X 2019. After years of dealing with a front end alignment problem, I finally had the repair done with some assistance from Tesla. When I purchased my vehicle under warranty, I reported problems with steering and pulling to one side, but they repeatedly claimed they couldn't replicate. This was before they allowed customers to drive wit
... h the repaid team. I mention the front-end problems as that has coupled with the rear tires. Inner wear is a consistent problem. I went to Costco today to have them look at tires I bought in November of 2024 and they said the tire was balding and unrepairable. In fact the tires were showing wear on both sides and needed to be replaced. A full set costs $1400.00+ and this is the second time I'm having to replace tires for wearing out quickly. There's a fix online from a company "N2itive". On their website they state, "The N2ITIVE SX-2 adjustable rear camber arms are designed to address the common inner tire wear issues that plague the Tesla Model S and X. These arms are available in the Red and Natural Anodized finishes with a 3-Year Warranty or the Black Anodized finish with Lifetime Warranty and work best when used in conjunction with our TSX-2 Toe Arms." External companies are standing up lines of business based on Tesla's failures. This is a problem and someone is going to get hurt, or worse.Read more

When driving in highway or street, the steering feels very stiff. It’s difficult to turn and, especially hard when driving in the highway making small adjustments. When turning left and holding corners the wheel likes to bounce. Took it in the dealership and diagnosed to be the steering rack assembly, and want to charge me 5500 for it. I just bought the vehicle not even 3 days old and I have to
... spend an extra 5 grand to ensure I’m safe when I’m driving and it’s not right. This is dangerous because if I can’t control the wheel I can lose control and hit someone else. There were no warnings, which was why I purchased the vehicle. The dealership at Honda confirmed my suspicions and diagnosed it as a bad steering rack assembly, and is charging a lump some of money for the fix. The car only had 47000 miles and this should not be an issue I should be dealing with. Honda needs to resolve this as it’s very dangerous to be driving like this especially on a vehicle with very low miles.Read more

I began experiencing "sticky" steering at highway speeds, requiring that I use force to keep the vehicle from drifting out of its lane. The problem worsened until, roughly one month later, the cruise control system went out without warning and refused to come back on. I took the car to the Honda dealership in Port Charlotte, FL on 3/30/26 where they were able to duplicate the problem immediately
... and recommended I no longer drive the vehicle until the steering rack/gear box is replaced. Honda steering is sensitive. Overcorrecting is a very real danger in addition to the possibility that it may lock up at high speeds in traffic. No warning lights ever indicated a problem. I am aware that other 2018 CRV's were recalled for this issue to have the racks replaced. My VIN was not included in that recall, but clearly, my vehicle is having the same issue. I spoke with corporate Honda on 3/30/26Read more

On 3/30/2026, I was driving down the road & suddenly my dash filled with warning lights about brakes, abs etc. Steering the vehicle became almost impossible because power steering was gone. When I attempted to brake, I also found that I had very little braking. The vehicle has 11,036 miles. Got the vehicle to the dealership - Capital Chevrolet from which it was purchased. It has been diagnosed as
... a major brake failure. Master Cylinder, booster, reservoir, seals etc. Extremely dangerous situation without any early warning signs, lights or notices.Read more

Vehicle experienced intermittent and sudden loss of power steering assist while driving. Steering becomes extremely heavy without warning, creating a risk of loss of control. This is the same symptom addressed by Recall V53 (Power Steering Assist Loss). The recall was previously marked as completed, but the defect has returned, indicating an ineffective recall remedy. Issue occurs during normal dr

I am the original owner of a 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sport with approximately 16,240 miles. The vehicle is completely unmodified. I am reporting a serious safety defect involving the steering and suspension system. When driving at highway speeds (50 mph and above), the vehicle experiences a violent front‑end oscillation whenever it encounters a bump, uneven pavement, or bridge expansion joints. The s
... teering wheel rapidly shakes left to right, and the entire vehicle shudders for 5 to 10 seconds. The oscillation does not stop until I slow the vehicle down to below 45 mph. This issue is reproducible and occurs frequently on rough or uneven road surfaces at highway speeds. During these events, I temporarily lose the ability to maintain proper steering control, creating a dangerous situation for myself, my passengers, and other drivers. This condition is commonly referred to as “Death Wobble,” and it makes the vehicle unsafe to operate. Given the severity of this defect and the safety risk it poses, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue and that Jeep/Stellantis address the defect under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (3‑year/36,000‑mile basic warranty). The front‑end suspension components—including the track bar, steering damper, ball joints, and related parts—should be inspected and repaired as necessary to eliminate this hazardous oscillation.Read more

Leading up to and while on a 12 hour road trip, it was noticed that the steering seemed to “stick”, requiring additional force to get the steering wheel to initially move from a resting position. This caused rapid and inconsistent adjustments in the steering of the vehicle. Luckily we have not gotten into an accident as of yet, but every time I drive the vehicle I become anxious that the steer
... ing may give out or become so stuck that to much force is used to turn the wheel, potentially causing an accident. Remaining on a straight path has become dramatically more difficult as small adjustments are not possible, meaning that the skips in steering cause the vehicle to begin veering off into adjacent lanes. This is not safe. Newer models were recalled for this reason, so recall the 10th generation of civics too.Read more

Steering wheel feels sticky or like it catches when going at higher speeds, particularly on long distances. Dealer has confirmed to replace the power steering rack (which includes the steering gear box/worm gear). The gear box/worm gear was part of a previous recall but only for 2023-2025 CRVs although this issue was being reported beginning in 2021.

Following a 25-day repair at a certified collision center due to an earlier accident, the vehicle's Full Self-Driving (FSD) and Active Safety Systems began failing. The vehicle repeatedly failed to keep speed and failed to stay centered in the lane. On March 25, 2026, while traveling at low speed on a public roadway with FSD actively engaged, the system failed to maintain a stable path and incorr
... ectly steered the vehicle into a curb, causing property damage to the wheel. This failure put my safety and the safety of surrounding traffic at risk by executing an unpredictable steering maneuver that the active safety systems failed to prevent. The vehicle was taken to the manufacturer's service center twice with this specific complaint prior to the curb strike. The service center investigated and officially concluded that this was not a software issue, stating that they could do nothing else. They deferred the resolution back to the collision shop, citing likely camera/sensor physical misalignment from the 25-day body repair. The collision shop is now refusing to review the vehicle or inspect the hardware, claiming lack of visible exterior damage despite the internal service team stating this is a latent hardware alignment defect. The vehicle is currently in the same failing condition and available for inspection upon request. No warning lamps or error messages appeared on the screen prior to the failure or the curb strike. The symptom of unpredictable lane tracking first appeared immediately upon receiving the vehicle back from the collision repair earlier this year. Note: I have a formal data privacy request pending with Tesla to pull the exact chat logs showing their refusal to service this hardware defect. I will provide these to the investigator upon follow-up.Read more

When I'm driving on the hwy or interstate after a while. Maybe 30 minutes to an hour. The steering wants to jerk either left or right. If I'm trying to drive straight and give it a little correction it'll grab and pull either direction. No warning lights or anything or that sort. But it has almost made me wreck several times. Especially in high traffic areas
