When driving at highway speed, steering wheel feels like it sticks (catches) suddenly, then jerks when correcting. Steering wheel action is disconcerting, but not dangerous yet. Seems to be getting worse. The steering issue has not been inspected by the dealer, or any technician.

The steering wheel is sticky when resetting position after turning left. This is a major safety issue as it requires force to get the steering out of that locked up position. This forces overcorrection and the car sways everytime. I can confirm 100s of people with civics have this issue on Reddit, YouTube and other Honda forums however the recall only applied to 2022 and above (known issue but s
... omehow recall didn’t apply to pre 2022 cars). This is a major flaw from a reputed company that sells 100s of thousands of cars. If I can see so many complaints online, I can imagine how many common people (elderly and disabled included) that don’t report and are especially at high risk of this. I sincerely request further investigation and enforcing better safety practices in this situation. Thank you very much.Read more

While driving my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, the vehicle experienced a sudden, severe malfunction of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. The dashboard illuminated a "Service Power Steering" warning light, which was accompanied by an immediate, complete loss of power steering assist. The steering wheel became extremely stiff and heavy. It required immense physical force to steer. This failure occ
... urred suddenly without warning, creating an immediate and severe crash hazard by making the vehicle uncontrollable. The vehicle also suddenly restored power assist while I was using the extra force which made driving very dangerous. I use my minivan to drive my kids to school every day and this hazard could have resulted in tragic loss of life especially with an infant and three toddlers in my car. I just noticed that the safety probe PE25009 has been opened last year with no recalls yet. Please help us resolve this ASAP as this is a critical, life-threatening, safety issue.Read more

-Complete steering and suspension failure occurred while driving on highway. Vehicle is currently sitting at Ford dealer. - The safety of all passengers was put at risk and nearly caused a fatal accident. -Dealer and another shop are saying it was lower control arm and bushing failure. Component Failed & Inspection Status: The front-left upper and lower control arms, ball joints, wheel hub assembly, steering knuckle, and front axle shaft have failed. Severe environmental corrosion has completely seized and fused the steering knuckle inside the wheel hub. All original failed components are currently intact and are fully available for physical inspection upon request. Safety Risk
... : This severe structural corrosion causes the steering knuckle and axle to seize, creating an imminent risk of primary steering component separation while driving. A steering separation on a heavy electric vehicle (over 6,000 lbs curb weight) causes a sudden, complete loss of directional control, creating an immediate life-threatening hazard to the occupants and surrounding traffic. Confirmation & Testing:The failure and severe structural corrosion were officially diagnosed and confirmed by a certified technician at an authorized Ford dealership service center. Warning Signs & Symptoms: The symptom appeared as a very noisy, distinct creaking sound coming from the front-left suspension. This noise occurred specifically when turning the steering wheel and when operating the vehicle at speeds below 40 mph. The sounds may have been present but obscured by road noise at higher speeds. There were no dashboard warning lamps or error messages prior to the diagnostic inspection. Systemic Concerns: This 2022 model is experiencing a severe vulnerability to premature environmental corrosion that causes the steering knuckle, axle, and control arms to seize to the point of failure. This demonstrates a critical structural durability issue under heavy EV loads in road-salt regions that warrants federal safety tracking for the 2022 model year.Read more

While using Highway Driving Assist/Lane Following Assist on Interstate highways, lane markings frequently disappear on overpasses and in construction areas. When this occurs, lane-centering assistance silently disengages. The only indication is a small dashboard icon changing color. There is no audible warning, steering wheel vibration, or other prominent alert. The vehicle may begin drifting befo
... re the driver realizes steering assistance has been lost. Observed repeatedly on Massachusetts highways, including I-495 and I-290. This creates an unexpected and serious safety issue, potentially resulting in an accident. I had this happen during a recent trip, and multiple times the car wandered towards an adjacent lane. It caused me to lose confidence in the system, and to maintain constant vigilance, gripping the wheel tightly at all times. Had I not done so, I’m sure I would have had an incident. Who watches the dashboard all the time? The driver's eyes are supposed to be on the road ahead, especially when approaching an overpass. Had they incorporated an audible or tactile alert, this would have greatly increased the driver’s awareness and potentially avoid a crash. Since the system obviously knows when it has disengaged, it would be a simple matter to implement this. My preference would be steering wheel vibration.Read more

am reporting a serious safety concern involving a 2025 Tesla Model Y, VIN [XXX] . On [XXX], the vehicle was being driven on [XXX] in Columbus, Ohio while the driver was traveling to Columbus Preparatory Academy. During the trip, the steering reportedly stopped responding properly, and the driver struggled to control the vehicle. Witnesses at the scene reported that the driver appeared to be fight
... ing with the steering and trying to stop the vehicle or prevent it from drifting. The vehicle then lost control, accelerated or continued moving uncontrollably, flipped/rolled over, and sustained major damage. A police report was created by the Columbus Police Department under report number [XXX]. The vehicle involved is a 2025 Tesla Model Y. This was a serious crash involving a possible steering malfunction, loss of control, and rollover. The vehicle is currently located at Pro-Cars, 400 Stimmel Rd, Columbus, OH 43223. Tesla was contacted after the incident, and the representative advised that the vehicle should be taken to a collision center. I am filing this complaint because the incident appears to involve a potential safety defect affecting steering control and vehicle control. I request that NHTSA review this matter as a possible vehicle safety defect. The vehicle has not yet been repaired, and I am attempting to preserve it for inspection. I have supporting materials including the police report, photos/videos, witness information if needed, towing/storage documentation, and communications regarding the vehicle. The vehicle has an unresolved electrical/propulsion failure involving sudden shutdowns while driving and CAN C bus/lost-communication faults. Since the high-voltage battery was replaced through a recall-related repair, the vehicle has had repeated shutdown/loss-of-communication events, occurring dozens of times. In the most serious incidents, while driving at speed, the dash flickered, windshield
... wipers activated unexpectedly, headlights turned off, turn signals would not work, and steering locked or became difficult to control. The vehicle then completely shut off while still moving. After shutdown, the hazard lights would not work. One documented incident occurred on the interstate at about 70 mph. This puts occupants and others at risk because the vehicle can suddenly lose motive power and critical electrical/control functions at the same time, including lighting, signals, hazards, instrument display, and steering/control assistance. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by a Chrysler dealership. Dealer records documented multiple modules losing communication on the CAN C bus. The dealer replaced the shifter module as a possible contributor, but the problem continued. The dealer later corrected loose pin tension at a communication/star connector, but the vehicle continued to shut down and later scan reports still showed widespread active/stored CAN and lost-communication faults across powertrain, hybrid control, body control, braking/ABS, steering, and shifter-related systems. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The problem has been confirmed by dealer scan reports and repair records, but the root cause remains unresolved. The manufacturer has been contacted through customer care and repair/scan documentation was submitted. The exact root cause is UNKNOWN, but dealer findings indicate an unresolved major electrical/CAN communication problem possibly involving the harness, connector network, or communication system.Read more

The vehicle is experiencing a persistent and severe manufacturing defect regarding its steering wheel geometry and vehicle alignment. While operating the vehicle under normal driving conditions, the steering wheel alignment is visibly off-center, failing to achieve proper tracking geometry. There is comprehensive photographic and video evidence documenting that the steering wheel and tracking alig
... nment are fundamentally incorrect. To date, this vehicle has been brought to an authorized Volkswagen dealership service department for a total of eleven (11) separate service visits specifically targeting this exact defect. The dealership service department refuses to perform further corrective actions, insisting that the off-center geometry is "normal and within factory specifications" after test-driving two other lot vehicles. The dealership has explicitly stated they will not correct this defect without direct corporate intervention. Safety Risk Assessment: The manufacturer and dealership's failure to remedy the off-center steering wheel geometry and tracking alignment presents an ongoing safety hazard. Operating a vehicle with compromised steering geometry introduces unpredictable handling characteristics, accelerated or uneven tire wear, and an elevated risk of sudden component fatigue. The persistent alignment deviation forces the driver to constantly compensate to maintain a straight line of travel, increasing the risk of driver fatigue and unpredicted lane drifting at highway speeds. A vehicle that cannot maintain proper tracking geometry poses a clear and present danger to its occupants and surrounding traffic. Timeline of Events & Notice to Manufacturer: Both the local franchised dealership management and Volkswagen of America corporate regional management have been formally notified of this recurring defect through 11 documented service attempts. Following initial acknowledgments, the Volkswagen corporate regional representative has ceased all communicationsRead more

I am filing a formal safety complaint against Camping World for structural equipment overloading, unauthorized safety component manipulation, and willful public safety endangerment. On May 29, the dealer hitched a 37' long trailer to my half ton truck frame. This combination violates critical highway stability standards. A 37' trailer requires a minimum 178" tow vehicle wheelbase to counteract lat
... eral wind forces and semi-truck displacement. Operating it with a 157" wheelbase leaves a catastrophic 21" layout deficit, causing uncontrollable highway sway. The tailer's loaded tongue weight (1,223 to 1,529 lbs based on a 10,195 lb GVWR) physically overloads the truck's factory stamped 1,22o lb hitch receiver capacity. Immediately upon exiting the lot on Friday night, may 29, the rig experienced violent highway sway. I notified the sales associate that night, but received no safety instructions. For public safety, I returned the hazardous rig to the lot on Saturday morning, May 30. Instead of resolving the safety hazard, dealership personnel refused to let me speak to the general manager and executed two unauthorized alternations to mask the defects: 1. A technician intentionally over inflated my trucks tires to 57 PSI on the asphalt lot between the propane filling area and the store building. On site personnel explicitly admitted this was done to "stiffen the sidewalls because the trailer was rocking". 2. The dealer installed a Curt 10,000 lb weight distribution hitch (1,000 lb max tongue weight), which is completely overloaded by this trailer rating by up to 500 lbs. Staff took the rig behind a closed gate into Service Bay 2 to make undisclosed tension alterations to force the truck to look level, withholding all mechanical disclosure forms or explanations of services rendered. Staff then abandoned my truck in the drop off lot with the keys inside and ignored us for hours. The dealers blind alterations caused even more violent sway causing emergency grounding.Read more

Shortly after we took possession of the car, I noticed that the warning that I was not holding the steering wheel would light up when I was holding the wheel with both hands in the 10-2 position. Flipping my fingers while continuing to hold the steering wheel was sufficient to switch the warning off. Also I was frequently being advised that the steering assist was inoperative and that the stop and
... go assist was inoperative. On August 21, 2025 when I was driving in I95, the various warnings described above appeared on the screen. The hands warning sign would not go off although I was holding the wheel correctly. A warning chime began and then a message that the system was initiating an emergency stop. I accelerated briefly and the warning disappeared. On August 28, 2025 I took the car to the dealer for assessment. I was advised that the car required a software update (Invoice no. 118573). I picked the car up on September 2, 2025. The following morning I received a telephone call from Mercedes Benz advising me that “Germany” had indicated overnight that the steering wheel needed to be replaced and I would be advised when that was available. I took the car back on September 11 for the steering wheel to be replaced. The previously described problems recurred other than the warning that an emergency stop was being initiated and I took the car back on December 12, 2025. Another new steering wheel was fitted. The problems persisted and the car was taken back. On this occasion a software update was performed. In late March 2026 when I was driving an a busy two lane road, the typical problems recurred but flipping my fingers did not work and the initiating an emergency stop warning appeared. Acceleration was not an option and there was no immediate place for me to pull off. I removed both hands from the steering wheel and the warnings disappeared. I regard these two emergency stop warnings as representing a significant safety issue.Read more

Incident description: On three occasion I have had the same catastrophic Engine failure putting myself and my family along with the general public in harms way. Starting March of 2022 while driving at approximately 60 MPH on the West Shore Expressway my truck experienced a sudden and total loss of motor power. My engine stalled out and I lost my ability to safety steer and stop my vehicle. This a
... ll happened during rush hour while driving in the left lane of traffic. This sudden loss of power forced me to maneuver the vehicle to the right shoulder of the expressway across the right lane of traffic. As there was no shoulder to pull over on the left side of the highway. This created an immediate crash risk for myself and other drivers. Upon inspection at the authorized GMC dealership where I purchased the truck new, a certified mechanic determined that the engine experienced a complete failure requiring replacement or rebuilding of the engine. I paid to have the engine rebuilt at the dealership. The second instance was similar to the above incident. Once again I paid for the repair. The third instance was more dangerous as when my trucks engine failed it almost caused an accident. As of today my truck is still sitting in the dealership for over 6 months and no one from the dealership or manufacturer will give me an answer on what has to be done now. This patter of sudden repeated engine failure clearly indicates a systemic safety defect that extends beyond normal wear and tear. I urge the NHTSA to open a defect investigation into the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 engine systems.Read more

As I was driving the Tesla Model X, I received a steering assist reduced error on the dash. There was no immediate noticeability, but after about 5 minutes, it felt like there was ZERO power steering, with no additional warnings in the car. With zero power steering, car required extreme forces required to get to the shoulder. If attempting any kind of turn, car would require forces in excess of
... 80lbs of pressure to execute. Once safely in a parking lot, I put the car into SERVICE mode to check the errors. There was an EPAS error, where it said Torque Sensor 1 not receiving, along with a Torque Sensor 2 not receiving. This has occurred to me 3 times, in the 3 years I've owned the car. Other than "Steering assist reduced", there is no other warning that the car's EPAS steering system reverts to just manual forces required to steer a car. I do not trust my wife to drive this car, as she would not have the strength necessary to get the car to a safe location. If this happened while turning, there's a strong possibility the car would not turn at all, a huge safety factor.Read more

While driving, the vehicle experiences dangerous episodes of what is widely known as "sticky steering." Specifically, when initiating a sweeping left-hand turn, the steering wheel hits a point of sudden mechanical resistance, requiring an unexpected and sudden increase in steering effort to turn the wheel. When trying to maintain or exit the turn, this resistance causes the steering wheel to bind

The vehicle was purchased brand new from an authorized franchised dealership, sold and contracted as being equipped with a dealer-installed 2.5-inch suspension lift. At approximately 20,000 miles, a severe front-end squeaking symptom developed. The vehicle was brought to a separate authorized Toyota dealership service center for inspection. An authorized Toyota Master Technician formally inspec
... ted the vehicle and documented that the selling dealership did not install an engineered suspension lift. Instead, they installed unauthorized, budget aftermarket spacer pucks and non-certified upper control arms. The Master Technician documented in writing that the vehicle "isn't even lifted properly" and a factory front strut has failed prematurely. SAFETY RISK: The unauthorized spacer modification has severely altered and compromised the factory steering and suspension geometry. Because the front suspension, upper control arms, ball joints, struts, and steering rack are forced to operate continuously at unsafe, extreme, out-of-spec angles, the components are subjected to premature, destructive stress. The Master Technician confirmed that this improper configuration creates an imminent highway life-safety hazard, presenting an extreme risk of the front CV axles binding or snapping at highway speeds, which would result in an immediate, catastrophic loss of steering control. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The safety defect has been explicitly reproduced and confirmed in writing by an authorized Toyota Master Technician. The selling dealership management has been formally notified of this safety diagnosis but has actively refused to remediate the unsafe components, leaving a structurally compromised and highly dangerous vehicle operating on public highways.Read more

I then drove the vehicle forward toward my driveway and garage area and inspected it again. During this inspection, I found a finger-sized screw or bolt underneath the vehicle. I attempted to reverse the car once more, but the same problem occurred: excessive vibration and an inability to steer either left or right. There were no warning lights, alerts, or notifications displayed on the Tesla screen at any point during this incident. I subsequently contacted Tesla Roadside Assistance and requested that the vehicle be towed to a Tesla Service Center. Tesla remotely accessed the vehicle data but informed me that they could not detect any issues based on the vehicle diagnostics. They suggested that I drive the vehicle to the service center. I explained that the vehicle was unable to turn left or right and that I did not believe it was safe to operate under those conditions. At the time of the incident, I was accompanied by my [XXX] father-in-law, and we were preparing to travel to an urgent care facility. The vehicle had been operating normally the previous day. The vehicle currently has approximately 32,077 miles and is approximately 2 years and 5 months old from the date of manufacture. The vehicle has no history of repair work or tire service performed outside of Tesla-authorized service. My primary concern is the significant safety risk presented by this failure on public space. But now my car is not in the recall but it was made with in the years and the plant the they recalled for

The Ford dealership completed repairs on my vehicle and returned it by parking it in front of my garage. I have a long driveway and additional parking and needed to park the vehicle somewhere else (maybe 20-30 feet away). I reversed the truck ~20 feet and when I tapped the gas lightly to turn the car left to pull into the parking space it accelerated rapidly. I pressed the brakes repeatedly and th
... e car didn't stop and barely slowed down after noticing that continuing to turn the steering wheel to the left did nothing. I tried cutting the wheel and the tires seemed unresponsive and the vehicle didn't stop until it hit a small tree on the right side of the parking area. Upon trying to move the vehicle back to the original parking space the vehicle seemed to only allow steering to the right and hit a tree on the right passenger front door. The airbags, part of the service work previously completed from another recall, didn't deploy despite having an 85lb passenger in the vehicle. The dash flashed with many sensors when I initially tried to stop the vehicle when it was in drive. The vehicle is available for inspection. The safety of myself and my passenger were at risk. I was transported to the ER. The problem was not confirmed by anyone yet. The vehicle was inspected by police visually and damages documented in the police report. I have not spoken to the dealer as I'm now weary of their service center practices since this occurred the first time I drove the vehicle after they made the repairs for the passenger airbag and brake recalls.Read more

When we are driving around small curves as well as straight, the steering locks up. I am reporting as I was told to because this happens in all of these vehicles. If I move the wheel a little bit it comes out of it. This is our main vehicle and it just did it on the interstate going 80. It is a complete safety concern and extremely dangerous to be dealing with it especially when you have your chil

The steering wheel of my 2013 ford fusion S.E 2.5 Lm was tightly connected to the steering system until now. It has start wobbling over time and the problem have greatly increased as of 05\31\2026. I fear that if I can’t this problem fixed soon the whole steering wheel will disconnect one day. When I told a mechanic about the problem he told me there was a recall put out by Ford Fusion Motors on

The steering at highway speeds sticks. This causes the vehicle to drift left or right until the steering engages to correct. It feels unsafe.
Incident date: May 30, 2026
The vehicle has repeatedly lost electrical power while driving. During one incident at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle’s electronics shut off and power steering assist stuttered/lost assist for several seconds, causing reduced vehicle control. During another incident while turning/in a turning lane, the engine and electronics shut off and the vehicle had to be restarted. Afterward, the vehicle
... struggled to restart and displayed a warning to drive cautiously due to power steering loss. The vehicle also has recurring hot-start/no-start symptoms and electrical loss after shutting the engine off. Based on my research, GM Bulletin 19-NA-052 appears to describe a related condition on 2016–2019 Chevrolet Camaro 6.2L vehicles where circuit 1 may short to ground at the starter heat shield, causing loss of electrical power or failure to start, with repair involving the starter solenoid cable. This appears to be a safety-related manufacturing/design defect because the vehicle can lose electrical power and steering assist while in motion. The vehicle/component is available for inspection upon request.Read more
