On highway taking an exit. The brake pedal sank and did not engage at normal pressure, I had to push the brake all the way down for it to engage. Vehicle communication failures. One point unable to start the vehicle. Then the wipers and all warning lights came on without being able to turn the vehile off. I am reporting a suspected defect involving the front suspension or steering system of my 2026 Tesla Model Y AWD. The vehicle produces loud popping, knocking, and rattling noises from the front end when turning the steering wheel at low speeds, particularly when the steering approaches full lock in either direction. The issue is most noticeable when entering or exiting uneven surfaces such as slo
... ped driveways or parking lot entrances where the suspension is under load. During these conditions, the front suspension produces distinct mechanical popping or knocking sounds that appear to originate from the front wheel or suspension area. The noise does not occur while driving straight. It becomes significantly more noticeable when turning left or right at low speeds and worsens as the steering approaches full lock. In addition to the noise, a noticeable mechanical jolt or feedback can be felt through the steering wheel when the popping or knocking occurs. This issue began suddenly without any warning signs. One moment the vehicle was operating normally, and the next the popping and knocking noises began. Since that time the issue has continued consistently during turning maneuvers. The vehicle has not been involved in any collision and has been driven under normal conditions. Numerous other 2026 Tesla Model Y owners have reported similar front suspension symptoms, suggesting this may represent a broader pattern of potential suspension or steering component issues. Because the noise and feedback occur through the steering system while the suspension is under load, this raises concern that a suspension or steering component may be shifting, binding, or prematurely wearing. This condition raises safety concerns because abnormal movement or failure of steering or suspension components could affect vehicle control during turning or emergency maneuvers. I request that this issue be investigated for a possible defect trend affecting Tesla Model Y vehicles.Read more

What happened? While driving my 2025 Honda Odyssey, the engine failed to restart during an Auto Idle Stop event at a 4-way stop/intersection. When releasing the brake to take my right-of-way, the engine stalled completely. The vehicle became immobilized, the power steering went heavy/stiff, and the brake pedal became difficult to depress. I had to manually cycle the ignition by shifting to "Park"
... and pressing the "Start" button multiple times to regain power while traffic was waiting. This has occurred twice. What component or system failed or malfunctioned? The Auto Idle Stop (AIS) system and the Starter/Charging System. A service technician recently documented a "slow crank" during routine maintenance, suggesting the battery is unable to handle the restart load. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle stalled during a right-of-way transition (green light/4-way stop). This created an immediate risk. The loss of power steering and the stiffened brake pedal could have made the vehicle nearly impossible to maneuver manually on an incline during the failure. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed? A dealership technician confirmed a "slow crank" symptom during a multi-point inspection, though they could not reproduce an issue. The battery tested good. Were there any warning lamps or symptoms before failure? Yes. A "slow crank" was noted by a technician when attempting to start my vehicle to check my vehicle mileage. During the stall itself, a red exclamation point warning appeared on the dashboard.Read more

On 5/28/2019 Recall V06 was completed on my 2014 Dodge Ram 2500. As part of that repair the adjustment nuts on the steering drag link were welded to prevent loosening and potential separation. On 3/3/2026 I had new front suspension components installed by Les Schwab Tire Center. During that service the technician advised a wheel alignment could not be performed because the welded drag link nuts p
... revented the steering linkage from being adjusted. Alignment is normally required after front suspension work and necessary for proper steering geometry. Les Schwab advised that grinding the welds off the drag link to perform the alignment and then rewelding the component would be unsafe because it could introduce hidden stress or cracking in the steering component. They recommended replacing the drag link with a Moog DS801538A redesigned component. The drag link had to be replaced to restore normal steering adjustment and allow the vehicle to be properly aligned. On 3/3/2026 I requested reimbursement from Dodge/Chrysler for the drag link replacement required due to the recall repair. The request was denied. On 3/4/2026 Chrysler representatives acknowledged the welded drag link rendered the vehicle unserviceable for alignment yet still denied reimbursement. Chrysler’s Vehicle Alignment Clarification Letter states that after the recall repair, owners should still be able to obtain an alignment using an approved procedure. In my case, however, the welded drag link prevented any adjustment necessary to perform that procedure, making the vehicle unserviceable for alignment until the drag link was replaced. The recall repair rendered a steering component non-adjustable and prevented normal service, leaving the vehicle less serviceable than before the recall repair. Documentation and photos are attached.Read more

My airbag light is on after picking it up from a KIA dealership service and they are refusing to correct the issue that was caused by the dealership. I escalated the issue to KIA America and filled a formal case#25916418 on 2/26/2026. On 3/4/206 Tori at Kia Customer service informed me that it will not be covered because the dealership claims its a pre-existing issue. The dealership has failed to
... provide proof that that is true. Attached are: -The dealership’s diagnostic report -All text communications with the service advisor -Also have Video documentation of misaligned steering wheel I was unable to attach. Prior to dealership service, my vehicle was evaluated for approximately one week at a reputable independent repair facility for a cracked head gasket. At no time were there airbag warnings, steering issues, or safety system concerns. The vehicle was driven directly from the independent shop to the dealership where they preformed a warranty service. Upon pickup, I immediately observed: - Misaligned steering wheel - Illuminated airbag warning light - Coolant system air bubble (later corrected per dealership) The steering misalignment indicates the steering system was disturbed during repair. The airbag warning light appeared immediately afterward. The dealership’s report references “history” fault codes, but provides no proof the warning light was active prior to service. History codes can result from battery disconnection or electrical interruption during major repairs and do not establish a pre-existing defect. Given that: - The airbag system functioned properly before service - The steering wheel was returned misaligned - The airbag light appeared immediately after repair - There is no documentation proving a prior active fault I am concerned a critical safety system has been compromised. An active airbag warning indicates the system may not function in a collision. I am requesting that KIA fix this at no charge to me due to the reasons listed above.Read more

In 2020, I received multiple red recall notices in the mail regarding a safety issue. I scheduled an appointment with a Chevrolet dealership in Los Angeles and have a voicemail confirming the appointment. At the time, I did not follow through with ensuring the repair was fully completed, which I take responsibility for. However, the vehicle has continued to experience the same dangerous symptoms.
... My vehicle continues to display sudden “Engine Power Reduced” warnings while driving at freeway speeds. The car abruptly slows down and limits acceleration, forcing me to pull over and turn the vehicle off and back on to reset it. During these events, the steering wheel becomes extremely difficult to turn, creating a dangerous situation, particularly at high speeds. The vehicle also appears to have ongoing issues with the push-button start/stop system. Although I did not pursue the issue further at the time, I am now seeking to have it properly addressed because the safety risk remains and another family member is currently driving the vehicle. When I recently attempted to verify the recall status, both the Chevrolet website and other sources show no open recalls. However, the symptoms persist exactly as before, I cannot find the little red notices that were sent but I do have a voicemail from someone at Chevy confirming the appointment that I made because of the recall notices. This issue presents a serious safety hazard due to sudden loss of engine power and steering assist on highways. I ended up sliding into the speaker. It scared my son & myself. I attempted to contact Toyota about the issue. They told me if I wanted more aggressive winter tires. Then I should buy some. It's not about wanting winter tires I told them. It's about my safety, the safety of my family & the safety of other drivers on the road. They claim the OEM tires are all season tires. They are definitely not all season tires made for anyone that lives up north. I've never ever had an issue with a brand new vehicle driving in the winter with OEM tires until this Toyota. They refused to address the issue. I've also contacted the tire manufacturer. Even though they never sold the tires to me living in Connecticut in the winter. It was Toyota that decided these tires were ok to put on the vehicle & sell in any region of the USA. I had to purchase new England all season tires. Which cost quite a lot. I'd I had known I had to buy brand new tires for a 33,000$ vehicle. I either would have worked that into the cost of the vehicle. Or I wouldn't have purchased the vehicle. The salesman never told me the tires are a safety liability in Connecticut during the winter. Which is when I purchased the vehicle. The OEM tires that came with the camry cannot be driven in cold weather. I even offered to bring the car in to the dealership so they could put different tires on the vehicle that would be safe.Read more

Recall repair completed 6/13/2025 (steering related recall) A steering recall repair was completed on 6/13/20025 on my vehicle. The steering felt normal for approximately one week then began sticking again and has progressively worsened. The steering now binds and physically "grabs" 100% of the time. While navigating through curves, the steering wheel remains in the turned position and does not
... return smoothly to center. When attempting to correct, the steering overcorrects due to the binding sensation. This has resulted in at least two near-collision events. The vehicle is driven approximately 70 highway miles daily, creating a significant safety concern. No steering warning lights are illuminated. Additionally, adaptive cruise control also intermittently stops working while driving and will not re-engage until the ignition is turned off and restarted. When attempting to re-engage, the system emits three beeps and will not activate. The vehicle was evaluated at an authorized Honda dealership on 3/2/2026. The dealer stated they could not reproduce the steering or adaptive cruise control issue. A brake switch circuit code (C0041-14) and condensation in a taillight assembly were noted, and taillight replacement was suggested before further diagnosis. However, the steering binding continues during normal operation. An aftermarket lighting module (installed by a prior owner years ago) was noted. However, the vehicle has been serviced, and a 21-point inspection performed several times, of which revealed no issues with either the taillight or the installed lighting. The vehicle did have steering issues before the recall repair and had every symptom that was stated in the recall. After the repair there were no issues for at least a week, even with the aftermarket component being present, and then the malfunction returned and worsened as time went on. This condition poses a serious safety risk. The vehicle is available for inspection.Read more

While driving my 2016 Volkswagen GTI MK7 Autobahn Edition with approximately 37,000 miles, the power steering suddenly and without warning failed completely. The steering wheel became extremely difficult to turn, requiring significant physical force to operate. Simultaneously, both the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning light and the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) warning light ill
... uminated on the dashboard. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Volkswagen dealership, Deel Volkswagen in Miami, Florida. The dealership diagnosed the issue as a complete failure of the steering rack and pinion assembly and quoted approximately $6,000 for replacement. This failure occurred at only 37,000 miles — far below any reasonable expectation of component life for a steering rack, which should last well over 100,000 miles under normal use. The failure was sudden, with no prior warning signs or gradual degradation. A sudden and total loss of power steering assist while driving at any speed constitutes a serious and unreasonable safety risk, as it dramatically increases the force required to steer and can cause loss of vehicle control. A review of MK7 GTI owner forums and communities reveals this is a recurring and documented issue among this vehicle population, suggesting a systemic defect in the steering rack assembly used in this model. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether a safety defect exists in the 2016 Volkswagen GTI steering system that warrants a recall and manufacturer-funded remedy.Read more
