What component or system failed? Is it available for inspection? The component is the Steering Gearbox Assembly / Rack and Pinion. The vehicle is currently in my possession and available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving at highway speeds (40–70 mph), the steering wheel "sticks" or "catches" in the center position. To change lanes
... or follow a curve, I must apply sudden, extra force to "break it loose," which results in a jerking motion and significant overcorrection. This creates a high risk of losing control of the vehicle or unintentionally departing the lane into other traffic. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer? I have presented the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership on two separate occasions for this specific issue. Both times, the dealership stated they were "unable to duplicate" the problem and claimed the steering was "normal," despite the symptoms matching a known national defect. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or others? No, it has only been inspected by the authorized Honda dealer technicians. No police or insurance reports have been filed as no crash has occurred yet. Were there any warning lamps or messages? When did they first appear? There are no warning lamps or dashboard messages. This is a mechanical friction failure within the gearbox, not an electronic one. The symptoms first appeared roughly 2023 and have progressively worsened with time and heat.Read more

Driving down the road and had Stabiltrak disable and power steering go out, causing great difficulty to maintain control of steering the vehicle. My teenage son’s first vehicle and he was driving with myself and younger son as passengers. This could have been a very horrible situation. Apparently this is a pretty widely discussed and common issue with this vehicle make (a quick google search
... proves this), and actually was recalled in the previous year model for this exact issue (reference NHTSA #21V213). The issue was evidently not sufficiently corrected in the 2016 year models. This is obviously a safety issue that could lead to severe injury or death and should be taken seriously by the manufacturer.Read more

The vehicle is experiencing intermittent and severe steering stiffness, making it difficult to control and creating a safety hazard while driving. Despite this, the dealership has advised there are no recalls or bulletins associated with my VIN and has declined assistance with repair costs. I am writing regarding the diagnosis provided for my vehicle [XXX] . As there were no coolant leaks before or after the vehicle was towed to your dealership. I am formally requesting a
... re-evaluation and more detailed evidence. Given the known history of these engines seizing, I need to ensure this diagnosis is absolutely correct and not a symptom of the internal defect. I request the following information be provided immediately: 1. Evidence of Overheating: Did the vehicle store any specific "overheating" codes in the ECU prior to the engine shutting off? 2. Oil Pan Inspection: Has the oil pan been removed to inspect for metal shavings or debris? If the connecting rod bearings failed (the recall issue), there will likely be metallic debris in the oil, regardless of the condition of the water hose. 3. Bearing Clearance Test (BCT): Was the mandated Bearing Clearance Test performed? If not, I request that this be done, or that a teardown be performed to inspect the rod bearings specifically. 4. Causal Link: Can you provide evidence that the water hose failed causing the engine to seize, rather than the engine seizing causing a pressure spike that damaged the cooling system? I have no transportation to work and school. They would not honor a loaner. This has happened since Decemeber of 2025. I await your written response with the requested photos and technical data. I am reporting a serious and unresolved safety defect involving a 2024 Jeep Wagoneer Series II 4x4 (VIN: [XXX] ) with approximately 34,000 miles. The vehicle has experienced repeated power steering warnings and functionality issues, and on multiple occasions (approximately three incidents) has unexpectedly shifted itself into park while actively driving. These incidents have occurred since Fall 2
... 025 and continued in January 2026 and now March 2026, demonstrating the issue is ongoing and recurring. The vehicle was in the dealership for over three weeks between January and February 2026, at which time a repair was confirmed before the most recent occurrence. Despite ongoing repairs, the issue has not been resolved and no permanent repair path has been identified. The vehicle is currently back at the dealership with no confirmed resolution. The most recent incident occurred on 3/18 when the vehicle shifted into park while in motion, requiring a restart in the roadway. Shortly after arriving at my destination, the battery died and the vehicle became inoperable and required towing. The combination of electrical issues, including power steering warnings and a dead battery, along with the vehicle unexpectedly shifting into park, creates a significant and unpredictable loss of drivability and presents a serious safety risk. Incident Description: On multiple occasions in January and February 2026, while operating a 2024 Mazda CX-5 in reverse on low-friction surfaces (snow/ice) with a slight incline, the vehicle suffered a total systemic failure. System Failures: While reversing at low speeds, the engine spontaneously shut off without warning. This resulted in an immediate loss of power braking and power steering. Si
... multaneously, the electronic gear selector (shifter) became non-functional, preventing the vehicle from being placed into 'Park' to stop the uncontrolled rearward slide. Safety Risk: The vehicle became a "runaway" object on several occasions. In one instance, the vehicle narrowly avoided crushing a pedestrian against another parked car, stopping only when the tires reached a different surface texture. In a separate incident, the vehicle slid uncontrolled down a residential hill, striking snowbanks. There is a grave concern regarding whether the Supplemental Restraint System (airbags) remains functional during these engine-stall events, as the dealer could not confirm occupant protection status during a total power loss. Inspection & Reproduction: The vehicle was presented to an authorized Mazda dealer on March 3, 2026. The service department attempted to replicate the issue by reversing over soapy water on a gravel surface. However, due to the high friction of the gravel, they were unable to induce the specific tire-slip/low-traction conditions required to trigger the malfunction. No error codes were found during an informal scan, and no warning lamps or messages appeared prior to or during the failures. Component for Inspection: The vehicle is available for inspection. I believe the failure is rooted in the traction control or engine management software, which appears to improperly shut down the powertrain when it detects specific wheel-spin patterns in reverse, subsequently disabling critical safety systems including brakes and transmission locks.Read more

Electrical power steering assistance system. The steering wheel starts becoming difficult to smoothly turn in corners over 30-miles per hour. Steering wheel required excessive force to overcome the resistance caused by the steering system (almost like having a non-power system steering system in turns). No issues on straight roadways. No warning lamps light. Getting worse (only used for local
... travel). It requires a physical effort to turn the steering to remain on track within a curve. It has yet to be confirmed by a dealer: Williamsburg Chrysler sold me this vehicle 3-months ago as perfect (but as-is). If YOU suggest a dealership trustworthy enough to evaluate the system I will go there, otherwise I know of no dealership in my area who knows (or cares) to troubleshoot issues that are not so obvious parts are not falling off. NOTE: I noticed a Safety Recall V53/NHTSA 19V-348 Power Steering Assist exists but not specified for my 2019 Pacifica. The description is exactly what I'm referring to.Read more

I am on my second 2026 Honda Passport. The first one was taken to dealership 6 times (once at red rock Honda in Colorado and 5 times at Cleo bay in Texas) for a failed part in the steering wheel. The airbag and other parts were replaced and would fail again afterward. I had to replace it with another of the same vehicle because of so many problems and no suitable repair. My new 2026 Honda Passport
... started having same issue. I took it in and they replaced the whole steering wheel and then after about a month it failed again. There have been clicking and loose spring noises in steering wheel and now the brake. The dealership is requiring that I drive the car from my home to there (92 miles one way) and is refusing to tell me that this seemingly unknown issue is not a safety concern. My case numbers with Honda Corporate are 15880428 for the first car and 16204405 for the second car.Read more

I don't think Tesla ever did the steering bolt recall per SB-20-32-002 on my vehicle. I had all the bolts fail, with obvious corrosion, and the motor separated from the rack causing a loss of power steering while moving. You can see where the bolt physically failed and the corrosion both on the remainder of the bolt and the entire mating surface of the motor to the steering rack. Going back thr
... ough my service records, it is only listed once on 9 June 2021 with notes of "Parts not available" hidden in the comments. Tesla is telling me this was done, with comments about a January 2021 visit, but I never took it to them in January (I did in February) and the February visit has no mention of the recall. Regardless, one of two things happened: either Tesla didn't do the recall and I fell victim to the issue or the recall was done and the new, updated bolts still failed due to corrosion and exposure to a corrosive, winter environment. I still suspect the former for the reason that no visible evidence of the protective wax coating required by the TSB could be seen on the motor or steering rack. Perhaps they swapped the bolts but didn't apply the wax, which allowed for continued corrosion? I won't know for sure until they continue with the repair, but I'm worried they are going to toss the parts and sweep this under the rug and foot me with the full bill. Regardless, I want this documented that I had a failure despite the recall so that any other owner with a similar problem can see this record.Read more
