The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for an alignment and the contact was informed that an alignment could not be completed because to the tie rods were welded together. The dealer informed the contact that the repair was approved by the NHTSA and that for the alignment to be performed, the entire part had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The recall repair stated that Chrysler would notify owners, and dealers would check the steering linkage jam nut tightness, replacing the drag link assembly or welding the nut to the adjuster sleeve, free of charge. The contact believed that the dealer failed to perform the remedy due to the tie rods not specifically being mentioned as what was expected to be welded together. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that the remedy was to weld the tie rods. The manufacturer opened a case regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 17,519.Read more

Brand new 2025 Ram 1500 Bighorn/Lonestar purchased on 10/24/24. From day 1 it pulls to the right at highways speeds. The dealer has tried to fix the issue with alignment two times, but not luck, they don’t know what is wrong because all the numbers in alignment are green and good. There are several online posts that are talking about this issue with the 2025 Ram 1500s. Also in regard to my truc
... k greeting light feature, the service advisisor said the technician claims it is not a feature on the Bighorn/Lonestar trims, but I believe it is. If it wasn't a feature, then I wouldn't have those options in my settings. I also discovered something interesting about this. At night, after turning my truck off - but without pressing the key fob, LOCK button, if I press the key fob UNLOCK button, the headlights and taillights come on (as per the featured settings) like they are supposed to do. However, if I press the key fob LOCK button first (1 or 2 presses - it doesn't matter), when I press the key fob UNLOCK button, the headlights and taillights do not turn on (as per the featured settings) like they are supposed to. Again, I believe this is a software issue, but could be related to the headlight module that I am seeing being reported online as well.Read more

1) This is the second occurrence of this issue within the past 12 months. While driving, my EV displayed various blinking lights and a “Check EV Connection” message, followed by a “12v Battery Critical” warning. The entire system began shutting down in the middle of the road. I managed to pull over before the car completely shut off. 2) This malfunction posed a significant safety risk to
... me and others. The rapid deceleration and uncertainty of an imminent shutdown almost caused an accident, either from other vehicles crashing into me or from my inability to stop in time, potentially hitting another car. I have faced this life-threatening situation twice within a year due to the same issue. 3) The problem was confirmed by my dealership less than a year ago, and my car is currently being towed back to the dealership for re-inspection of the same issue. 4) The vehicle and its components have not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or other parties for the current situation. However, the manufacturer issued a recall for this problem last year AFTER my initial report, incident, and repair. They claimed to have fixed the faulty issue or replaced the necessary parts, when my vehicle was repaired less than 12 months ago. Despite this, I am experiencing the same critical problem again. 5) During the incident, my entire panel started blinking with a “Check EV Connection” message, followed by a red warning sign indicating a 12v Battery Critical Failure warning. The system then went black, and the panel continued to blink white and black consistently while parked. The car cannot be started or moved.Read more

Steering sticks and does not return to center in sweeping turns. Clicking noise over bumps in very cold weather (may or may not be related--steering issue most concerning). Most prominent at higher speeds (for example, getting off of the highway) but occurs at any speed. Once you turn the wheel, it will return slightly then stick in place. It takes a small amount of extra force to correct it back
... towards center. During these occurrences it may continue to stick or may begin to act normally after the "correction." I would be alright with providing the vehicle for inspection and/or demonstration if requested. The first time this happened, I was driving along twisting roads in northern Michigan. The occurrence caught me off guard, and I traveled over the lines. Personally, I was not in danger but if there was no shoulder or more traffic I feel this issue has the chance at being very dangerous. I am now aware of the issue and can keep it in mind while driving, but I've also noticed recently that the small "jutt" from correcting the wheel could cause an issue on snow and ice. I have not had a dealership look at the vehicle, as it seems to be a very common complaint about the Chevy Bolt, with a new part number being sold for replacement steering racks. I am willing to have it confirmed if needbe. There are no warnings of this occurrence. If the conditions are right, there is a very high chance it occurs. It started roughly around the 60,000 mile mark, and has been getting slightly worse over the past year. My vehicle is now at 98,000 miles.Read more

MY VEHICLE HAS 75,583. I received a recall for 3 items and made an appointment and took the car in for the work. I noticed that their wasa slight dead spot in the centeing of the steering and asked if there was any adjustmen. I was told there wasn't but they would check it because there was a known problem thith the plastic gear in the electric motor's connection to the rack that wears out and can
... completely disintegrate. when I picked up the vehicle they had obviously checked it because the slight dead spot had turned into a clunk. As there was no recall they would nothing about it as the vehicle was out of warranty (10 years, 100,000 miles). Had it had a higher annual mileage it would have been replaced under warranty. My concern is that this fault may be hidden by the warranty coverage. If the plastic gear fails completely the steering could become locked or inoperable. This is clearly a well known problem as there is a youtube video showing the replacement process. This actual mechanism may be used on several other years and models. My 2007 Chevy Malibu began experiencing intermittent power steering failure at around 103,000 miles. This issue makes the vehicle extremely dangerous to drive, even though it is not classified as an official recall because it only affects certain VIN numbers. However, I see multiple other owners reporting the same problem, proving this is a widespread defect. I had the issue diagnosed as a failin
... g torque sensor, which was previously covered under Chevrolet’s Special Coverage Adjustment 10183. Unfortunately, this coverage expired in 2022 or at 120,000 miles—yet my vehicle has significantly less mileage and still exhibits the defect. Chevrolet has refused to take responsibility for this known issue. The previous owner of the vehicle passed away before the car transferred ownership to me, so it was impossible to have this defect fixed while coverage was still active. This leaves me, and others in my situation, vulnerable to a sudden and unexpected loss of steering assistance. This defect poses a severe safety risk. If the power steering fails at high speeds, in rainy conditions, or on the freeway, it could lead to an accident. I strongly urge NHTSA to investigate this issue further and pressure Chevrolet to extend coverage or issue an official recall.Read more

December 2021 about 2 months after purchasing, traction control, power steering light would intermittently turn on as well as the radio screen would flash black. All of these were separate problems and were not ways necessarily present when another light was on but they did occasionally all happen at the same time. Periodically, not every time when the light came there was the inability to turn
... the wheel. The length of time the light of inability to turn the wheel would vary sometimes the light would go away after turning the vehicle off and turning it back on while other times it was days. By the time a shop is able to get it in to be looked at the lights were off and not able to be recreated. It was at the dealership for a while and was told I could bring it home. I had concerns the and voiced them that although the light isn’t on now, what if it does turn on and I can’t turn the steering wheel while driving? It couldn’t be fixed if they didn’t know what was causing it. Eventually an ‘update’ was done and supposed to have fixed the problem. The radio still flashes a black screen periodically, the lights didn’t come on as frequent and the inability to turn the wheel went away. Until recently December 2024 intermittent lights that come on but do not stay on, check engine light, electric power steering, front collision (off) and traction control. These lights have come on intermittently but do not stay on. I have had times where I was unable to turn the wheel, luckily not on the road, the vehicle has lost traction while driving in the snow over the winter and has occasionally felt like the vehicle was ‘chugging’ down the road. Now the symptoms are not present every time a light turns on sometimes it runs fine. The length of time the lights stay on vary and again by the time I can get an appt the lights are off and the lights do not always come on at the same time as another. So the issue occurring with hardly any miles and no again with about 50k mils.Read more

... have to worry about a manufactures part malfunctioning on me while driving. I took it to the Jeep dealer and had it repaired right away. I feel like the repair costs should be reimbursed since this is a “known issue” for this model. There were no warning signs for this incident either. Very unsafe and should be taken care of from the manufacturer. Please issue a recall on this VIN to help other Jeep owners from experiencing this problem. My electrical power steering is going out. A “power steering” flashes on my dash. I turn off my car and turn it back on and is able to be steered. However, my steering wheel read only moves/jiggles on its on at idle and in park. When I drive I feel the steering wheel jiggling on it’s on requiring to constantly correct so I stay in the lines.
