There was no incident, just routine occurrences of the following that could lead to one: 1) the wipers do not clear the upper right (passenger) side of the windshield, creating a blind spot, which is especially dangerous when turning. Photo attached, though note this is a mild instance and visibility can be much worse. 2) the rearview camera has been blacking out while the car is in reverse. The

This vehicle has had an intermittent (for a few years) issue with all of the warning lights (ABS,Stabilitrak,Parking Brake,Steering) coming on when starting. If you tried to drive it, you would have no power steering causing the vehicle difficult to handle. This would not happen every time it was started. We took the car to the local Cadillac dealership and were told nothing was wrong and it was
... just the system going through the electronic check system and to just not put it in gear until after the lights cleared. That actually did work sometimes. Recently, it came off and would never go off. We took it to a shop that does other work on other vehicles for me. He found that the Electronic Brake Control Module was bad. He tried to source a replacement one but found that it was discontinued with no alternate part. He did find a used one which we are waiting on to be delivered and then installed. My first concern is that if this happened when my wife was driving she could lose control of the vehicle causing an accident. My second concern is how can GM discontinue a known problem (I found multiple forums discussing this issue) part with no replacement. The vehicle is 10 years old with only 75K miles. I have read this has been an issue for quite a few years.Read more

Steering rack and pinion (steering gear) is failing. There is a violent intermittent vibration in the steering wheel when driving. I have had an import repair shop check out the car - I did have some suspension work done on the rear as well as replaced the sway bars in the front (still had the vibration and it continues to worsen). After more review of the issue and numerous test drives it was
... determined that the steering rack and pinion was the issue and needed to be replaced. I authorized the shop to order the parts back in January, however they have been unable to get the part as it has been on back order. I have contacted other shops as well as dealerships and getting the part will require a substantial wait. This is a significant safety issue and even Volkswagen parts department here in High Point NC acknowledged that the part has been "upgraded" a few times so clearly its a known issue. I do not know how this sort of a safety issue cannot be a recall. As the car's warranty is expired and this is not a recall, we are stuck navigating between driving a car that may be unsafe, renting a car or trying to get by on one car when we require 2. We have no option here but to wait, hope and pray that nothing significant happens.Read more

I recently purchased this vehicle and have experienced intermittent power steering failure, posing a severe safety hazard. On sharp or semi-sharp turns, this failure greatly increases the risk of an accident or fatality. The power steering warning light has appeared, and a diagnostic
... scan returned code C2-120-17 with an alternator status of Bad (14.99V). Despite replacing both the battery and alternator, the issue persists. Researching the problem, I found numerous complaints with no meaningful response from the manufacturer. It is concerning that similar issues were addressed in previous recalls, yet this defect continues. This ongoing failure not only puts my safety at risk but also creates a hardship for my family, as we cannot rely on the vehicle for daily use. Each time I drive, I face the possibility of an accident. Note: The error codes from the pictures I included I have fixed but the light indicating EPS failure persists. Given that I recently purchased the vehicle and have already invested additional money in attempted repairs, I cannot afford the costly fix that appears necessary. Based on widespread reports, this seems to be a manufacturer defect that should be covered, rather than leaving owners to bear the financial and safety burdens. I urge immediate action to resolve this issue.Read more

... teer requiring a lot of force to turn the steering wheel that actually resisted with real force being turned. I didn’t know the lane keeping would turn on with the cruise control but it did and resisted me even more. The roads became black ice and it was freezing rain. The phone charge port lost power, the dash blanked out, there was no radio and the rear power port I had switched to lost power and my phone died. I was driving about 30 to 40 mph on the 2 lane undivided snow covered black ice covered highway. In a curve in the road where the highway maintenance snow plows had stopped plowing I believe the truck mistook the snow line for the painted line and unexpectedly and surprisingly actually turned the steering wheel towards the double solid dividing centerline and I turned back into my lane. This slight movement caused the truck to totally slide out of control and cross the double solid dividing centerline and the truck went into opposite highway oncoming lane! Luckily there was no traffic coming the other way or it could have been a horrible accident. I hit the brakes and the truck actually stopped good, and then I got back into my lane and pulled over at the first chance. My phone was dead so I had no flashlight because I flew down I carried nothing but my coat. I tried to inspect the steering but it was all dark and below zero so I continued on towards Fairbanks another hundred miles to the North. Im a travel nurse and I was working in Vermont. As I was driving on the highway in New York on my way back home a shift to park light came on, a stabilitrak light came on, power steering light came on, ABS light came on, and my check engine light also came on. My vehicle started slowing down as I was driving and my lights on my dashboard were turning on and off and my speedometer was not working.

Upon starting the RAM 1500 on or about May 1, 2024, the electric power steering rack and pinion failed to operate. I observed a check engine light illuminated so I drove it carefully to a shop very close to my residence. The code indicated a failed power steerin
... g system but I do not recall the specific code. I contacted my local dealer for assistance. They indicated that since the vehicle was older than 10 yrs old, they did not offer any replacement steering racks or offer any service to the rack. They offered no alternative solution. I did some research, shopped around, and purchased a reconditioned rack and pinion for nearly $2,000. I installed the reconditioned electric rack and pinion assembly myself and power steering control returned as before. Since May 2024, the reconditioned power steering system has been functioning normally. The original rack and pinion is not covered under the limited previous recall. It's barcode reads - P68079506AG and TIC1393C5057 if this is helpful. I have carefully inspected the boots and seals of the unit and all appear very good ruling out any likelihood of water intrusion. Given my electrical engineering background and curiosity, I removed the cover from the circuit board and it does not show any visual damage. It's clean and dry inside. I purchased the truck brand new and it has been garage kept since purchase. It only had approximately 50,000 miles on it when it failed, therefore I am confident that there's a manufacturer defect or long term reliability issue with the electronic circuit design or components used in it that needs to be addressed.Read more
