When turning, accelerating and/or decelerating I hear a clicking sound coming from the rear of my car. My initial determination is the infamous cv joint/axle clicking sound. I have a service scheduled with dealer in a couple of days (5/6/26) to review. I did not receive any error or warning messages. The problem started yesterday (5/3/26).

The control arm bearing appears to have failed without warning causing loss of steering control. This occurred at low speed on a street in [XXX] last night near a gas station, so the driver was able to drive to a safe location easily without risk to life. Had the failure happened at speed a possibly fatal collision would have been likely. The vehicle has been used for the past 8 months to drive t

The tow truck driver said he has seen a number of other control arm failures recently, not necessarily in the same vehicle type. I’ve been to the dealership with it but everything seems normal when I go in. This all started at just over 42,000 miles. Everything points to the electronic rack and pinion beginning to fail, as hundreds of 2017- 2019 CR-V owners have indicated. There seems to be a system failure on these cars. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Power Steering While driving yesterday, doing shopping and online order deliveries, the steering wheel started having slight resistance during turns. It became worse shortly after. As I attempted to leave a grocery store, less than 5 minutes away from home, the steering wheel was extremely difficu
... lt to turn. I didn't see any leaks under the hood nor on the ground underneath my car. Nor was there any smells nor odors. On 5/1/2026, I did hear a slight noise when I turned the steering wheel to back into the driveway at home. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Steering wheel became difficult to turn right or left. I barely made it home to park it, as the longer I drove to get home, the more difficult it became to make turns. I parked it immediately as I didn't want to make too wide of a turn on a road, risking any accidents. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not yet. I will need the car towed to a local Ford/Lincoln dealership for assessment. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet, in the process of contacting my auto insurance about it. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The message on the dashboard was "Service Power Steering" and it appeared on 5/2/2026 for the very first time. Also, the power steering icon showed in a stable amber color. This message did not appear before.Read more

I am reporting a serious and ongoing safety issue involving my 2015 Ford Fusion. The vehicle experiences intermittent power steering failure while driving. The steering assist will suddenly disengage and re-engage without warning, making the vehicle extremely difficult to control. This condition becomes even more dangerous in wet weather, where the vehicle is sometimes nearly undriveable. Additi
... onally, I am now experiencing a popping noise in the steering wheel. This raises concern of a possible mechanical failure consistent with known recalls involving steering wheel bolt defects that could result in the steering wheel detaching. These issues are consistent with known recalls, including: - Power Steering Failure Recall (15V340000) - Steering Wheel Bolt Recall (18V167000 / 18S08) Despite these known safety defects, Ford has refused to repair the issue, stating that the recall has expired. This presents a serious safety hazard, including risk of loss of steering control, crash, injury, or death. I am requesting immediate investigation and enforcement of manufacturer responsibility for this safety-related defect.Read more

At about 9700 miles I noticed a popping noise in the steering wheel when it was turned left or right after driving for a few miles and it could be felt in the steering wheel. The popping sound got worse and on July 7, 2025 I took the car to the Honda dealership I bought it from at 11, 900 miles and the master mechanic confirmed the sound and stated the steering rack needed to be replaced. That was
... done over 4 days but several months later the popping sound that could again be felt in the steering wheel returned. I contacted the Georgia Attorney General Lemon Law division and was advised that because it was a safety defect I should give Honda a Final Repair Opportunity Notice under the GA Lemon Law which I did on Oct 24, 2025. Honda ignored the Notice and the Attorney General Accepted the case for Arbitration which is set for May 29, 2026. In preparation for arbitration, I discovered that at least 3 other complaints have been filed with the NHTSA about the exact same safety issue I have experienced. I do not know how these complaints were resolved but concerning one of them, the steering rack was replaced like mine and the popping sound from the steering returned. Honda therefore knows of this safety defect but has continued to ignore my Lemon Law Complaint and request for discovery of internal Honda information concerning this defect. I have severely limited driving of this vehicle to short trips at slow speeds to my law firm and cannot drive it at highway speeds for fear of steering failure.Read more

On 12/17/2025, my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (VIN [XXX] , 15,871 miles) experienced violent front-end oscillation — known as "death wobble" — while my daughter was driving on the highway at approximately 50–55 mph after encountering a road imperfection. The steering wheel and front suspension shook violently side-to-side. Vehicle control was significantly impaired and she had to slow subst
... antially to stop the oscillation. Video of the incident is attached. The vehicle is completely stock: OEM suspension, tires, and wheels, no lift, no aftermarket modifications. I took it the same day to Safford Brown Jeep, an authorized Jeep dealer. They diagnosed the issue and replaced the front suspension steering damper. Repair cost $800 out of pocket. The dealer called it out of warranty because the 3-year basic warranty had elapsed, despite the vehicle having only 15,871 miles — well under the 36,000-mile warranty limit. A safety-critical steering defect at this mileage on a fully stock vehicle is consistent with a manufacturing or design defect, not wear or modification. This is a known, dangerous defect in Jeep solid-front-axle vehicles. NHTSA has received hundreds of complaints on prior Wrangler model years, and Stellantis (FCA) entered a 2023 class-action settlement covering 2018–2020 Wranglers and 2020 Gladiators with an 8-year/90,000-mile steering damper warranty extension. The 2022 model year was excluded despite exhibiting the same defect. I am filing this complaint to document that the issue persists in post-2020 Wranglers and request NHTSA evaluate whether a safety defect determination and recall is warranted for 2021+ model years. No crash, fire, or injuries — but loss of steering control at highway speed is a serious crash risk, especially with a young driver behind the wheel. Unresolved Safety Defects & Request for Buyback/Replacement - 2024 Dodge Hornet GT Dear NHTSA I am writing to formally demand a resolution regarding a persistent and life-threatening safety defect in my vehicle, purchased from Gary Barbera Autoland. The power steering system in our 2024 Mazda CX-90 intermittently "sticks" while steering, requiring noticeably increased effort to turn the wheel before it suddenly releases. The symptom matches the defect described in NHTSA Recall 24V-022 (sticky steering due to worm gear friction in the power steering assembly) and the ongoing NHTSA Recall Query into vehicles where the 24V-022 remedy has failed
... to resolve the issue. Component: Power steering gear / worm gear assembly. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The intermittent increase in steering effort followed by sudden release creates a real risk of overcorrection, particularly during lane changes, highway driving, and turns from a stop. The driver cannot predict when the wheel will resist or release, which compromises the ability to maintain a consistent lane position and respond to road conditions. Dealer/service confirmation: UNKNOWN at this time — we are scheduling a dealer inspection. We will update if the dealer reproduces or documents the condition. Manufacturer/police/insurance inspection: None to date. No crash has occurred. Warning lamps or messages: None. No dashboard warnings, no error codes, and no messages have appeared before or during the sticking events. The condition is purely tactile through the steering wheel and is intermittent. The vehicle's recall status shows no active open recalls, suggesting any prior remedy under 24V-022 was already performed, yet the sticky steering symptom is still present — consistent with the complaints driving the current NHTSA investigation.Read more
