Unsure of the part or system that failed, however the auxiliary battery and power distribution system part was replaced previously and did not correct the problem. My safety was at risk when the speed and steering were affected. An independent service center worked on it and reproduced it. The car electronic system went through every warning light system while driving. "Stop/start not ready", "en
... gine light", "airbag light", "service electronic stability control", SERV 4WD, ABS, BRAKE, "service airbag system", tire pressure monitoring, seatbelt light, "speed control messaging unavailable service required", and gas light all came on while driving. Speed was reduced and steering wheel locked up and released several times during the event.Read more

After using the lane assist the steering wheel becomes sticky when I turn it off. Then if I turn it back on letting the lane assist correct my driving to turning it back off when turning around corners my steering wheel becomes really sticky. Then when driving the vehicle with lane asssist on the steering wheel will feel slightly different then I’ll turn it back off and it won’t stick around
... corners anymore (so then I can’t use my lane assist without my steering wheel getting sticky again) it really makes me worried. I don’t know if it’s connected but it makes me feel unsafe. When getting a hold of the dealership, they told me that I had to pay $150 to get a diagnostic because I didn’t have any active recalls. Which I think is a little crazy considering I keep reading about all these recalls about sticky steering wheels, but not specifically mine even though I’m experiencing the same thing they are. I’ve talked to somebody about three different times about recalls on this and they just keep saying that I don’t have a recall, but I’m telling them about what I’m experiencing is similar to people with active recalls, but they will still charge me a diagnostic fee that I can’t afford. And tells me I’m not in warranty. So my safety is at risk.. I have children in this car. I have pets in this car and I have family in this car…..Read more

In reference to Recall 21D / NHTSA 26V363, FCA has directed Jeep Wrangler owners not to park inside or near my home due to a fire risk. My local Jeep dealership and FCA have denied to offer a loaner vehicle, and they have denied my request to cover a rental vehicle. This only leaves me with the option to abandon my primary form of transportation, or drive a known fire hazard. I do not have an open
... space free of other combustible materials available to park my recalled vehicle, and driving the vehicle would create heat and increase the likeliness of a fire. FCA stated I would need to obtain a "Repair Order" from the dealership before they would consider covering a rental vehicle. However, the dealership stated they are not making appointments or taking vehicles under this recall at this time since there is no repair available. I contacted Sandy Sansing CDJR in Milton, FL on 06/11/2026 at approximately 12:47pm CST to inquire about appointment availability and the possibility of a loaner vehicle. I was directed by the service department to contact FCA directly as they did not have any loaner vehicles available. I contacted FCA the first time on 06/11/2026 at approximately 2:43pm CST. I contacted FCA again on 06/11/2026 at approximately 4:13pm CST to open a Star Case. For the answers to the recommended questions, the components involved are the hydraulic steering system components and nobody's safety has been put at risk at this time. The problem has not been reproduced outside of the events that led to the recall. The vehicle has not been inspected yet as the dealer is not making appointments for this issue at this time. No warning lamps related to this recall have appeared as of the time of writing.Read more

My wife and I spent the past 10 days putting approximately 2,300 miles on our 2018 CRV while vacationing. On the first day of our vacation I noticed that the steering wheel would get stuck in a certain position which needed a slight push to unstick the wheel, this occurred after about 600 miles. This stick and unstick process happened every time I needed to make a small adjustment to my steering.
... It happened about 20 - 30 times a minute. As you can imagine driving for over 28 hours in 10 days I was quite frustrated with this tug of war. Many times this added nudge to turn the wheel would cause an over steer requiring a corrective steer in the opposite direction. This oversteering caused me to swerve within the lane that I was trying to stay within. I called my local dealer to make an appointment, I was told that I could drop the car off in a couple of days and it would take them 2 to 3 to get to it. Once they get to it, it would cost over $100 to diagnose the problem then they can estimate the cost of the repair. I need my car I can't drop it off for 2 or 3 days. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer, the vehicle components have not been inspected by anyone. And there were no warning lamps or messages displayed during this failure.Read more

I was driving and the airbag light randomly came on out of the blue. While trying to parallel park I noticed my steering wheel clicking. We ran codes on the car and we are confident that the clock spring failed. My horn and cruise control also no longer work.

My local Honda dealership inspected my CRV on 6.3.26 after my complaint of "sticky steering." They said the steering gearbox needs to be replaced at a cost of $4,000 +. I would like to create a complaint because my 2023 Toyota Sequoia is not included in the NHTSA recall #25V767 for the V35A 3.4L i Force Max twin turbo V6 hybrid. My Sequoia was manufactured on the same production line as engines that have been recalled for engine debris in the Tundra trucks and Sequoia's. Toyota's reasoning for not including my hybrid vehicle is it's not a safety concern as the hy
... brid electric motor will provide power if the V35A gasoline portion of the engine should fail. Owners of the Tundra and Sequoia have stated that with loss of engine power some control system fail creating a safety issue. I use this vehicle for towing our boat to and from the lake frequently. I travel long distances with family and stranded along the highway could be catastrophic. This is an issue that Toyota is obviously aware of since they recalled the V35A engines because of failure.Read more

The vehicle's steering wheel gets stuck in place causing jerkiness while driving at medium to fast highway speeds. The steering wheel does not return to center automatically and you have to "break" the steering wheel loose from it's stuck position. The constant stuck position of the steering wheel causes distrust in the vehicle and that it will be ultimately stuck in a position to cause an acci
... dent. It also poses a risk that the vehicle can start veering in an unwanted direction and an overcorrection can also cause an accident. The vehicle can be inspected upon request. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, it also has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance or others, but I have researched this issue with similar Honda vehicles and it seems to be a very common issue that needs to have an official recall issued for and fixed by Honda.Read more

Vehicle (31,000 miles) exhibits sticky steering or notchy steering near the straight-ahead position. At highway speeds, the steering wheel resists small steering corrections and then breaks free, causing overcorrection. The condition requires constant micro-corrections to maintain lane position. I first noticed the problem around 10,000 miles. I turned off the LKAS system off. It appears to be get

His only advice was to bring it in. Tires are new, properly inflated, and vehicle has recently been aligned. The symptom appears to originate within the electric power steering system. Vehicle is available for inspection. Safety will be at risk if issue continues to worsen. No warning lamps. Thank YouRead more

While my wife was operating our 2022 Jeep Wagoneer Series III (5.7L HEMI eTorque, ~44,700 miles) at highway speed, the vehicle suffered a sudden and complete electrical power failure. Electric power steering cut out completely while the vehicle was in motion, creating an immediate safety hazard and nearly causing an accident. The vehicle was disabled and required towing. The dealership (Safford J
... eep) diagnosed fault code P0B32: catastrophic internal hardware and voltage failure of the 48-volt eTorque Hybrid Battery Pack. The 12-volt battery was also destroyed as a consequence of the 48V pack failure — the 12V charges exclusively via a DC-to-DC converter fed by the 48V loop; when the pack failed, the converter lost power and the 12V battery was starved of charge. NOTE: This incident is consistent with the active NHTSA ODI preliminary evaluation of 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Ram 1500 eTorque electrical failures. FCA/Stellantis has acknowledged these failures are likely caused by an electrical concern. My P0B32 event represents a catastrophic failure of the exact system under investigation, with the additional safety consequence of complete loss of power steering at highway speed. Stellantis Corporate Case #96719164 is open. The vehicle has been repaired (48V battery pack replaced) but Stellantis has declined to address the warranty access barrier created by their diagnostic system architecture. The dealer's equipment required a new 12-volt battery installation before it could communicate with the covered hybrid system — a $645 mandatory prerequisite to accessing a Federal Emissions Warranty repair.Read more

The EPAS (Electric Power Assisted Steering) module experienced an internal sensor failure, causing a sudden and complete loss of power steering assist. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request and the EPAS module has been retained. The loss of power steering occurred without warning while the vehicle was in motion, requiring significantly greater physical force to maintain control of
... the steering wheel. This creates a serious risk of losing vehicle control, particularly at higher speeds, during lane changes, or in emergency maneuver situations. Because the failure occurs randomly and without any prior indication, there is no opportunity to safely prepare or pull over before it happens, putting both the driver and other motorists at risk. Yes. The issue has been acknowledged by multiple Ford dealerships and independent mechanics, all of whom confirmed this is a known and recurring problem with this vehicle’s EPAS system. Numerous online automotive forums also document other owners experiencing the identical failure, suggesting this is a widespread issue rather than an isolated incident. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Ford dealership, which confirmed the EPAS module failure and acknowledged familiarity with the issue. No warning lights, dashboard messages, unusual sounds, or handling changes occurred before the failure. The power steering loss happened suddenly and without any prior symptoms, leaving no opportunity to anticipate or react to the malfunction before it occurred.Read more

I have experienced all of the following: "Sticky" Steering: A momentary feeling that the steering wheel catches or sticks when trying to turn it, often requiring extra force to break it loose, Notchy or Jerky Feel: When breaking through the sticky point, the car may jerk slightly, Abnormal Noises: You may hear clicking, grinding, or rubbing noises coming from the front of the vehicle when turning
... and Increased Effort: It becomes noticeably harder or stiffer to turn the steering wheel. There are no issues when driving straight but when I turn the wheel, into a curve or exiting or entering a ramp for example the wheel can stick and I have to apply additional force to complete the turn. I have also experienced a notch or jerky when completing wider turns, the steering seems to stick in muliple places while the turn is being made. There is also a clicking or popping sound that occurs at each sticking point. There have been no warning lights and I have tried turning on and off all the various lane assist features thinking that the issue was with the technology. Family members have verified these issues but I just found out about this issue after searching on the internet and checking to see that my vehicle was not included even though many of the searches said 2022 was included. If I can get my dealership to look at this issue or another professional I will make an additional complaint.Read more

The steering when turning especially to the left and more so at highway speeds(although I have noticed it just driving and at city speeds making micro adjustments while going straight) stops having a responsive feel and as I come out of turns and start to straighten the steering wheel back up it does not move and then all of sudden feels like it lets loose and moves a few degrees in the direction
... I am turning it aback to and then feels like it catches again. I do notice it even just moderately adjusting my line (but it does not fall or move as many degrees as when actually tuning) and once again more noticeable at highway speeds. This seems to line up with the service bulletins and recalls the later year models. I believe it is the same problem but due to the model year they would rather distance themselves from the responsibility. I have been noticing something with it for about a week before the date listed but I wanted to make sure and it has actually started showing up more and worse. I am afraid this is going to cause a major issue.Read more

NHTSA COMPLAINT — SHORT VERSION I am reporting a persistent, unresolved, safety-related steering defect in my 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 (leased 10/12/2024). Beginning in September 2025 at approximately 15,412 miles, the vehicle exhibits: (1) uncontrolled steering wheel shifting left and right at highway speeds; (2) hard pulling to the left when accelerating or decelerating; and (3) the vehicle swayin
... g or jerking within its lane without driver input. I described the issue to the dealer as "pretty dangerous to drive" — this language is documented in Repair Order #XXX. Despite 6+ documented repair attempts over 9 service visits from September 2025 through May 2026, the defect remains unresolved. Repairs attempted include: two 4-wheel alignments, road-force balancing, steering angle sensor calibration, front camera calibration, new front view camera installation, and a complete steering gear box (R-MDPS) replacement. The vehicle was out of service for 129 documented days. CRITICAL ADMISSION: Dealer Repair Order #XXX(11/5/2025) explicitly states that Hyundai's Technical Service Bulletin procedures for this steering defect only apply at speeds of 40 MPH and below, and that "above that speed there are too many variables." The defect occurs at highway speeds above 40 MPH. This is a written admission that no manufacturer-approved repair procedure exists for the defect as experienced. Hyundai Techline Case #XXX was opened in January 2026. After Techline involvement and new camera installation, the technician's own repair order states "concern still present" after road testing. Hyundai Motor America corporate case #XXX was opened, and Hyundai has now stated they cannot process a buyback or lemon case. Since the first day of owing this 2019 CR V, the steering wheel did not smoothly turn. It would turn in small increments, somewhat jerking. As the years have gone by, the situation is worsened. Honda AND NHTSA should both be concerned about the safefy of its customers. Brake systems and steering systems ought to top the list for recall considerations. What is the correct number of complaints to cause a recall? How many of those affected actually file a complaint? I suspect a very small number. I am reporting a serious safety defect involving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (VIN: [XXX]). The most significant issue occurred at approximately 50,000 miles when the vehicle experienced a violent steering and suspension instability event commonly referred to as "death wobble." While traveling at approximately 60 mph on a highway, the vehicle suddenly began shaking violently from side to side. Th
... e steering wheel became extremely difficult to control, and I had to fight to maintain control of the vehicle while slowing down in active traffic. The event was severe enough that I genuinely feared the vehicle could roll over or cause a collision. Prior to my experience, my wife experienced a similar incident while driving the same vehicle. The safety risk extends beyond my family to surrounding motorists who could be involved if the driver loses control. Immediately following the incident, I contacted the servicing dealership, Jeep Chrysler of Somerset, Massachusetts. The dealership informed me this was a known issue and instructed me not to drive the vehicle above 55 mph until it could be inspected. After inspection, I was advised that the steering damper was defective and that additional suspension-related components could also be contributing factors. The steering damper was replaced, but I was required to pay for the repair. The dealership further advised that instability could continue and recommended changing to smaller tires to reduce the issue. I also reported concerns through Jeep/Stellantis customer service channels and have documented multiple service visits regarding this and other vehicle issues. Despite repairs, the vehicle has never driven the same. My family avoids highway travel in the vehicle, and we do not feel comfortable transporting our children on long trips due to concern INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more
