I’ve now had two major safety issues with my 2024 Ford F-150 STX. 1. September 2025 – Loss of Acceleration While Driving I was driving north at about 40 mph when my truck suddenly stopped accelerating. It felt like it went into neutral on its own. I pressed the gas and nothing happened — the truck just started coasting. There were no alerts, no warning lights, and no explanation. I had to s
... afely pull off the road while the truck was basically free-rolling. 2. Most Recent Incident – Emergency Brakes Slamming On in an Empty Parking Lot When I was leaving a facility recently, I was driving slowly through an empty Walgreens parking lot — no cars or obstacles anywhere around me. Out of nowhere, the truck’s emergency brakes slammed on extremely hard. It didn’t just happen once — the brakes locked up five times within about a minute while I was in Drive. There were zero warning messages on the dash each time. The jolts were so violent that my son flew forward and hit the seat in front of him. My right leg slammed into the dash, and the impact was so strong I ended up in the ER afterward with severe pain on my right side.Read more

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the parking brake light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The warning light continued to illuminate intermittently. Approximately a year later, while driving approximately 30-40 MPH, an unusual odor entered the cabin of

The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the brake disc on the driver’s side was hot, and the odor was most pronounced; however, the passenger’s side was cool to the touch and did not have the same strong odor. On 29 October 2025 at approximately 0930, I was riding my motorcycle and getting ready to make left hand turn, was going approximately 5 to 10 MPH and a car made a quick turn into turn lane. While cruising on the highway at 55 MPH, I received a dashboard error message that indicated "Service Shifter". At the same moment, the lights on the gear lever went dark. I immediately took my foot off the throttle pedal, activated my right indicator, and changed lanes into the exit lane to leave the highway and determine what was wrong. As I was coasting down the exit ramp, I began to apply the
... brakes in order to stop at a red traffic light at the end of the exit ramp. The car directly ahead of me, by three car lengths began to decelerate quickly, and therefore I applied greater force to the brake pedal. It was at the very moment I applied greater brake force that the car actually began to accelerate, instead of slow down. This caused me to apply even more brake pedal downforce, and after what felt like all four wheels "shuddering", the can started to slow down and come to a stop. Other than the initial error message about the shifter in gauge cluster, there were no other error lights, sounds or messages when the unintended acceleration occurred. The conditions at the time this happened was it was 50 degrees F, and raining. The car was in Wet/Snow mode, with brake regen locked at Level 1.Read more

I am writing to formally report a safety-related malfunction involving the parking brake system in my vehicle. The issue poses a significant safety hazard while driving and warrants investigation for potential design or manufacturing defects. During normal operation, the parking brake actuator malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to pull to one side and creating an unsafe driving condition. When I
... took the car to an authorized dealership, I was informed that the issue was due to a faulty parking brake switch. The switch was replaced; however, the malfunction persisted. Further inspection revealed that the parking brake motor and actuator needed replacement. Even after these repairs, while driving, the dashboard repeatedly displayed warnings such as: •“Parking brake engaged,” •“Please release parking brake,” and •“Parking brake system overheated.” When attempting to release the brake, the system would only disengage after manually pressing the release button, rather than automatically disengaging when the vehicle began to move — as it should. This malfunction not only causes confusion but also increases the risk of loss of vehicle control or brake system failure during operation. Given the repeated failures and persistent warnings, I believe this issue represents a potential safety defect that should be reviewed by your agency to determine if other vehicles are affected. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and to ensuring this issue is properly addressed to prevent future incidents.Read more

Incident Description: While my wife was driving our 2022 Chevy Blazer at approximately 40 miles per hour, the vehicle’s dashboard suddenly went dark and became unresponsive. Multiple warning lights illuminated simultaneously, including the check engine light, ABS light, and other system alerts. The dashboard appeared to flicker as though it was repeatedly shutting down and restarting. When the

To bring the vehicle to a stop, my wife shifted into neutral and allowed it to coast until it came to a complete stop. I was slowly entering a handicapped parking place right in front of a business. The distance from the front of the parking space to the building wall was about 15 feet, one car length. I approached the place to stop in the parking spot when in a split second the car violently surged forward and would have crashed into the cinderblock wall had there not been a supporting post on the building and a
... metal frame with equipment which stopped the forward movement. The surge was explosive, almost like the acceleration of an airplane taking off. The whole incident took a second or two. There was no opportunity for any driver response to the surge. Had we not been using seatbelts, the front seat passenger & myself would have gone into the windshield and perhaps been killed or very seriously injured. Had I not been driving toward the building when the violent episode occurred, I likely would have hit someone in the parking area and killed or seriously injured people or crashed into park cars. Our injuries were relatively minor due to the seatbelts. The passenger will need therapy on her neck and back. A week later we are still emotionally stressed. There were no indications there was anything wrong with the car prior to this incident. It had only 27,000 miles with new tires and no apparent service issues. This hybrid car, which goes about 22 miles on a charge, was about at the point when it would have transitioned from electric to use of the gasoline engine. The badly damaged car was towed to a lot and later picked up and taken to the insurance facility for evaluation. I have not yet heard back. A NYS trooper investigated. He told me twice to have the Insurance Company look at possible vehicle defects when they examined the vehicle for insurance purposes. I passed on that information, but it appears the insurance company only evaluates the car for damaged. I have not yet gotten a report back yet, but it appears the car is totaled.Read more

Since the recall was announced, my truck has experienced constant ABS and traction control alarms, including an unending beeping warning chime that makes the vehicle unpleasant and unsafe to drive. My local Ram dealer confirms that the repair parts (HCU/ABS module) are not available and that there is no estimated time frame for replacement. This situation has now persisted for months, leaving me
... with: •A continuously beeping alarm while driving or idling, •A loss of confidence in braking and safety systems, •And a significant loss in resale value, since I cannot sell or trade the vehicle while this open safety recall remains unresolved. Impact This recall defect has made my vehicle effectively undriveable and unsellable. I have made multiple attempts to have it repaired, but the dealer and Stellantis representatives continue to tell me that parts remain on national backorder. As a result, I am deprived of the safe and normal use of my property. Under 49 U.S.C. § 30120, a manufacturer must provide a free and timely remedy for a safety defect. The ongoing delay and the lack of any interim solution (such as a loaner or disabling the alarm) clearly violate the spirit of this requirement and constitute a constructive deprivation of use. Requested Action I respectfully request that Stellantis: 1.Provide a functional remedy immediately (replacement HCU or equivalent). 2.If parts are still unavailable, provide a loaner vehicle, temporary compensation, or buyback option until the repair can be made. 3.Confirm in writing the expected date when replacement parts will be available for my VIN. I am filing a concurrent complaint with NHTSA to document this safety-related hardship and ongoing loss of vehicle use and value. Documentation Available upon request: •Copy of dealer service report indicating unavailable parts. •Photographs/videos showing active ABS and traction control alarms. •Records of my prior attempts to schedule service.Read more
